Very quick, food was good and the restaurant was clean. Worth a stop if you need some fast food.

Smokin' Hawgs BBQ - Delicious brisket on the smoker

Smokin' Hawgs BBQ

I decided that this needed a more Western feel to it, and the service is fast for…read more Y'all ever find yourselves meandering through Salem and craving a hearty meal that'd make a cowboy tip his hat in appreciation? Well, partner, you best steer your boots toward Smokin' Hawgs. Nestled in the old Main Street Pizza building, this joint might still be a work in progress, but it's already staking its claim as a local treasure. The inside seating might be on the cozy side, but don't let that fool you--there's ample room for comfort. And soon, a new patio with a gazebo will grace the front and side, offering a prime view of the creek that meanders beside it. While you're relaxin' and enjoyin' your meal, you'll also have a perfect view of the century-old courthouse in the town square, a grand piece of history that adds to the charm of this small town. Imagine sittin' under the gazebo, the sun setting over the horizon, and the gentle murmur of the creek as you savor every bite. That's the kind of experience Smokin' Hawgs is fixing' to offer. Now, let me tell y'all about the man behind the magic--Daryel. He's a dedicated chef and a fellow Masonic brother, rising with the rooster each morning to prepare the day's meats and sides. Every dish is crafted with pure love and passion, and it shows in every mouthful. **What we tried:** - **Brat Slider:** I took a bite, and it was like striking gold. Each morsel was a burst of flavor that had me wanting more. - **Pulled Pork Sandwich:** My wife saddled up to this dish, and let me tell ya, she's a tough critic. But this time, she cleaned her plate, leaving nary a crumb behind, except the bread. The pulled pork was plentiful, the baked beans were rich and savory, and the scalloped potatoes were creamy and delightful. - **4 Rib Meal:** My daughter chose this, and those ribs were tender as a gentle breeze, falling right off the bone. I had a taste of the beans--lip-smacking good, I tell ya. The ribs were seasoned to perfection, and each bite was a journey through flavor town. Daryel's signature sauces are the perfect sidekick to the star of the show--the meat. Each sauce complemented the flavors beautifully, adding a delightful kick that lingered on the taste buds. So, whether you're a local lookin' for your next favorite spot or just a traveler passing through, Smokin' Hawgs is worth every mile of the journey. With Daryel's dedication and the rustic charm of the place, you're in for a meal that's as memorable as a Western sunset. Giddy up and head on over to Smokin' Hawgs, where every meal is a culinary adventure crafted with heart and soul, all while takin' in the sights of the historic town square and its venerable courthouse.

I struggle to give it 1 star, because there is a fellow who is very good, and very friendly…read more Unfortunately, he hasn't been working our last few times in. We've had newer employees who are unsure, a bit anxious, not communicating with us as they go, one young man with shaggy hair that he presses down under his visor, his hands are constantly going up to adjust his hat and his hair. The gloves are of no use if he keeps touching his head. I also paid using a coupon, and after the transaction was complete, I was able to see on the receipt that the price had not changed. I asked the young man about it, and he said he couldn't do it. That's almost the reason we chose Subway that day, to use that coupon. I noticed the one lady was filling online orders between physical customers, but she wasn't making any eye contact with us, or telling us it would be a moment while she fills the online order. We'd be happy to wait if we knew what was going on. Tips from someone who worked in food service: 1. Make eye contact with folks as they enter or approach. Let them know you're friendly and doing your best. 2. Don't rush to the point of making a mess of the sandwich. Details matter. Don't throw all the "falling off" toppings in the trash or on the floor. Put it back in the sandwich or paper! 3. Have employees arrange their hair properly before beginning their shift, so that it doesn't require constant adjusting. Tell them to be cognizant of NOT TOUCHING other things while preparing someone's food. That includes money, phone. If gloves need to be swapped out for clean, understand when to do that. 4. When folks are waiting, tell them "Thank you for waiting!" Avoid apologizing. It just hits people better to say Thank You. 5. Don't be a turtle, but go calmly enough to do a good sandwich. Folks want to know they're paying $8 for a worthy product. Especially for online orders, when the people aren't here to see if you're spreading the meat out, being chinsey with the lettuce, etc. 6. When the veggies look unfresh (a bit gooey), try to avoid those, and please make a mental note to find out why they look that way. Again, people want fresh product on their $8 sub. 7. When a customer pays and uses a coupon, please understand how to adjust the price. Coupons bring people in, so use them! Thank you to the Subway employees/ managers who do their very best! I know you want return customers, and I truly want to be one! Thank you for taking a couple moments to edit your approach, and raise the bar. :)
