The park is a multi-purpose park as it has a few fields along with the BWI Trail. Parking was easy to find as well once I realized the trail parking is on the other side of the ball field parking. Once parked, I hit the BWI Trail and fell in love. As the trail itself is a little over 11 miles, I did 2 miles and turned around and headed back. The trail is spacious and easy to follow. The signs are clear and the variation of the trail varies from easy to moderate. As I walked along the trail I was captured by the sights of the airport, the horses, and the natural landscape of the greenery. As my walk came to an end, I not only felt good but I was also excited at the experience. If you're in the area and wanting a great trail to walk, run, or bike, check out Andover Park.

In general, cyclists are kind and let you know that they are passing. It's nice that you will see the occasional bench there if you just to sit and enjoy some rays or take a break. There is plenty of free parking at the entrance up by the ballfields or down a ways by the horses. I'm probably doing a disservice by only mentioning the walking trails because that's basically what I will be using. But from what I have seen the ballfields look well-kept and appear to be a fine venue In the county for recreational sports.

But get out of the car, walk over the ridge, and behold! Picnic tables, a few in-ground charcoal grills, a tennis court, and park benches strategically placed along the path. The picnic tables are shaded nicely by the trees, but if you need to move one around a bit for some reason, you can because they are not chained down. There are also trash cans so you don't have to carry it out. A coworker told me the path goes around the border of the park but I haven't walked it yet. Soon though. There is also a small stage there and apparently they have live musical performances some times on the weekends. I'll be watching for those as well. Great place to take lunch to and eat outside away from the office!

The second is on shade and seating, because I don't plan to stand the whole trip. Third is quality of the equipment, and the forth thing is the actual condition of the park. Well the park itself is pretty big with plenty of open space for pretty much anything you could dream of doing. The playground area though it wasn't the biggest, it wasn't crowded and the equipment was in good shape. There is a huge water tower behind the park that provided a good deal of shade at the time I was at this park, which had 2 benches near the playground,and yes my daughter had a great time. When i went they were actually having a music in the park event. However i'm not much for country music, and it didn't really look like there was anyone there that may have been interested in some good old J.Cole, K Dot, or Yeezus. I wasn't trying Wang Chung that night... So i left that part to the natives. Overall this is a very nice park, and i'll definitely be coming back.

The Trolley Trail is one of my favorite local hiking and/or walking trails. I mentioned both hiking…read moreand walking because you can go off the walking path and into deeper forest trails. There are also a few streams that are not roped off and you can go off the walking path down to the water. This trail has a lot of wildlife, including snakes, bunnies, ducks and deer, therefore, it is best that you keep your pets on a leash. There is one spot of the trail that is underneath a bridge and a lot of the dogs and cats get spooked due to the loud shaking noises. I frequent this trail a lot with my cat, Rune and we have never had an issue. It is very quiet and most of the people coming and going are incredibly respectful. The trail is easy to get to, and there is a lot of free parking, especially if you come early! At the beginning of the trail there is a café which is the perfect spot to grab a coffee, tea or a breakfast sandwich to enjoy on your walk!

The difficulty level is very low; the trail is wide and most of it is paved. It's about three miles and there are markers every 1/2 mile. The view along the trail is absolutely beautiful during, it doesn't matter what time of the year you go. There's a stream which you easily can go down to. As for parking, there's a huge parking lot right at the start of the trail and since this trail isn't busy, it stays pretty empty. If you don't want a difficult hike and just want a relaxing walk, this is a great trail for that. Plus, it's great for kids and pets.

Although quite crowded during weekends, the trails are quiet for the most part. My husband & I took the Soapstone trail to the beautiful Cascade falls and it didn't disappoint. The path was clean & easily accessible. Although rocky at a few places and had a creek crossing, our 3-mile hike went by quickly. After the hike, we couldn't miss visiting the popular attraction - the Swinging Bridge. It did scare me a bit while walking on it lol but for the view and the cool breeze blowing, I'd definitely visit it again. I only explored between trailhead 1 and 2 and that is only a small section of the 15 mile trail that extends all the way to Horseshoe casino. Since I was on foot, I saved those miles for when I am on a bike. The Winans meadows has a huge pavilion and a large field. The area was once part of an estate so the remnants of it is great to explore. There is a trail that leads to the mansion of the estate that still exists. The park boasts plenty of trails but they are not well kept. There are signs that post the beginning of a trail but it is difficult to distinct the paths. I stuck to the main paved Gwynn Falls trail as I was too spooked by the other trails. Also check out podcast series, Serial. Other than the creepy elements, the park was not crowded which is a breath of fresh air during the pandemic.

There is a historic mansion, church, tennis court, and various trails. There was also construction going on so perhaps there will be even more to offer when completed. I will re-visit and hopefully get to see more. The one thing that made me leery was it is the only park I've visited in the DMV (DC/MD/VA) that has signage all around the parking area and in front of the tennis court that says 'Please Remove ALL Valuable Items and Lock Your Car'.

It's a little distracting to play tennis there during peak times- there's a lot of activity between the planes, the highway, people smoking pot in the picnic areas, and once there were even kids on ATVs riding around loudly. Sometimes people blast music in the parking lot for absolutely no reason. For awhile there was a creepy old guy who lived in his truck in the parking lot and would make me super uncomfortable being there if alone, but he wasn't there the last two times I've been- maybe he has moved on. But overall, it is great that there is a place in the community for activities such as tennis and skating, and it seems to be well-maintained.

It's not a very long walking trail. It was good enough for what we wanted, just to get a good few laps in for exercise. At the time, the park was busy with people playing tennis and basketball. There were a few little league baseball practices going on as well. The parking is another story. If you do not get there at a decent time, you could end up parking along the side of the playing fields or in the grass outside of the park. Thankfully, we were able to get a parking spot. If you live in the area, it's a nice park to visit. Just be aware that after work hours during the week, parking could be an issue. On top of that, the park could get really crowded.
