Back in April my husband hired R&K to do work on our back yard, tree removal, leveling it out,…read morefilling in a pond, and more He told my husband he would be here starting the 2nd week in may. The second week in may comes and by Wednesday I call R&K I leave a voicemail but never received a call back my husband calls on Friday and he answers and tells him he was doing storm work and will be here the 1st week in June so the first week in June comes and again no show, no call, no nothing so I call the second week in June and he answered and gives me his second excuse that he can't get any of his workers to show up, which I understand but this is now his second excuse so I have a tough time trusting him. He tells me he will be here the last week in June and I said are you sure my kids are growing restless we wanted to put a pool and trampoline up, (which he knew back in April when we hired him) and he said yes he will definitely be there so I said okay. Well the last week in June comes, again no show, no call, no nothing. So I call and This call he was a complete a**hole to me telling me how busy he is and he has jobs from last summer he hasn't even done, okay if that was true why didn't you tell us that back in April why would you quote us multiple different times and not show up or even call. He promised he would be here the following week Wednesday or Thursday, I told him if he isn't here by then that I'm done and will find someone else! Well here it is Friday and he never called and never showed up. I can not believe how unprofessional this man is, how does he even have a business when he is this unorganized, unprofessional, and rude. reading all the different reviews on different platforms this seems to be a huge problem for this man. Don't even waste your time hiring him, look else where!!!!

They are in my neighborhood what seems to be daily. They were in my backyard a handful of times…read morethis summer. They're hired by Duquesne Light to cut down trees and branches around the utility wires. We got a door flyer early in the summer saying they would be doing work soon but the "soon" should definitely not be taken figuratively. They showed up weeks later in our backyard and just begin cutting. I wish there was some kind of better notice or heads up, but there isn't. So they ended up cutting down three very large trees and left the massive logs just sitting in high piles in our yard. Twice this happened in the summer and then late fall. There was no way we were able to do anything with these logs. They had to have weighed a ton and we didn't have any tools that would have handled cutting them. They needed to be cut with professional tools. So I called Duquesne light and talked with a customer service rep who said the manager of the tree division would call me back. Weeks went by and nothing happened. I called again and was told someone would call me back again. I wasn't holding my breath. Then a few days later a whole crew showed up at my door and told me they wouldn't take away the logs but could cut them for us to use for firewood. This was actually perfect because we do, in fact, have a log burning fireplace and we never ordered wood this year. They spent the whole morning basically halving them then came to the door and asked if that was okay. We were like... ummm no way those halves could be used for firewood. Not sure if they intended for us to get to work cutting them down more if what but they were still massive. We asked if they could cut more, because they were too large and the guy was like ooookay. I'm sure it's not how they intended to spend their whole day but I am SUPER SUPER SUPER appreciative and we ended up lucking out with so much new firewood. I'm not sure why this wasn't done in the first place when they initially cut down the logs, but I suppose someone just dropped the ball. FYI they will not do anything with trees that fall down from storms or natural causes, they did tell me that. But apparently from what happened it is their responsibility to cut it into useable firewood pieces. I'm not giving five star just because those logs sat there for months without any action or calls back. Plus, they threw some of the logs on one of my bushes and killed it :( But again, super thankful they rectified it!

Perkins Tree Service prunes trees, removes trees, and grinds stumps. I have used this business…read moretwice--once to remove my backyard neighbor's tree (yes...) and once to remove four of my trees. In 2021, my backyard neighbor had a tall, dead tree that was near our property line and was very hazardous for several years. On a Friday, I contacted Perkins Tree Service to get an estimate. The owner Tom said that he would arrive for the estimate on a Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, he did NOT show up, so I contacted him, and he changed the appointment to a Sunday morning. On Sunday, Tom gave me an estimate of $875 plus $75 for grinding the stump. He said that he would be available to do the work on Tuesday morning--a wait of only two days! On the Tuesday, four workers from Perkins spent about one hour cutting down the tree. They used ropes and a chainsaw to remove the several large branches and a grinder to remove the stump. They did not damage the nearby fences or any other structures. In 2022, for my four trees, I contacted Tom on a Friday to get an estimate, and he said that he would give an estimate on Saturday or Sunday. He actually came out on Tuesday, and he gave an estimate of $500 to remove four ornamental trees and to grind their stumps. This current job was small, so Tom said that he would not make an appointment for it but would rather fit it in whenever he could in the next 1-2 weeks. Several days later, his crew removed the four trees. They did a very good job, so that only mulch was left behind. They cleaned up debris with a rake, leaf blower, and trash can. I deducted one star from my review because Perkins stood me up twice for estimates and because in 2023, I contacted Perkins again, but they never responded. Furthermore, my next-door neighbor set up an appointment for an estimate with Perkins in 2022, and they did not show up, so he hired a different company.

JJ Tree Services gave me a quote, and I decided to go with them because they were one of the cheapest options with the best reviews. They scheduled me out for 2 weeks. I took the day off to monitor the work because the tree was right over my house so a high risk of falling on my house. They showed up late (2 pm when they said 8 am), so I was already frustrated that I took a whole day off when I did not need to. Then they cut down part of 2 other trees to make the larger tree easier (they asked and I agreed). Then the one guy climbed the tree, said it was too dead to cut while in the tree, and came down out of the tree. They explained they would have to come back with a lift. They told me they would be back on Monday, and I was okay with that. I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM SINCE. So, they caused me to panic because the tree is much more dead than we thought and then they just decided never to answer me again. The tree is directly above the bedroom I sleep in. I have called multiple times a day for 4 days now. Their voicemail is full (assuming they are ghosting others now too). I've texted as well and no one will answer. JJ Tree Services is not worth your time, especially if it is a tree you are already stressed about.
