They insisted that I'd only contracted for the front yard so hadn't treated the backyard AT ALL. Not true, as confirmed by a quick review of the contract. They admitted their mistake and refunded a few hundred bucks (the backyard portion, to date). George said they'd have no problem getting the backyard under control, but it was already July and that's not how weeds work - they had months to happily proliferate, and since then it's only gotten worse. Based on this experience, I had no intention of renewing for this year. No matter - they started up automatically, without notice. I called to cancel, relaying my frustration, and they said they'd revert with a better rate. They never did, and when I followed up they quoted a HIGHER price per application. George said it was based on a recalculated treatment area, but the square footage he referenced was for my entire plot, including the footprint of my house/pool/wooded areas/etc. I pointed this out and, despite multiple follow-up emails, they never responded. Very poor customer service. They screwed up my yard and then ghosted me.

We considered taking it down, but decided to bring in someone who knew what to do and how to handle the job of thinning it out and installing cables to stabilize some of the larger branches. It was obvious most of them were specialized in dropping trees, not caring for trees. When I showed the other tree companies the trees I wanted to be trimmed, they seemed confused and asked me what I wanted. What I wanted was for a professional arborist to do a professional arborist trimming/thinning job. When I showed Jason the trees, he started telling me what the trees needed. And, I got a good price quote for doing the work. I also had a few trees near the house I wanted to be cut down. When I showed them to Jason, he immediately confirmed that the one being killed by ash bore definitely needed to come down, but asked why I wanted the others to be cut down. He recommended trimming some of the branches near the house, and otherwise letting the healthy trees live. In the end, I saved a lot of dollars, and got a better environmental solution for what I needed - by talking it over with, and using, Jason at DeeplyRooted - a tree care specialist. Which should have been a red flag as he did not even get up on to our roof. He told us he had another job to do and would be back in 2 hours. He asked us for a 250 deposit which I stupidity agreed to and paid him. After I paid him the 250 the 2 hours suddenly turned into 4 hours. He promised me he would get the job done that day as it was an emergency WITH A HUGE SECTION OF MY TREE ON MY HOUSE! When I called him to tell him we were dealing with the insurance company he said he would be here the next day to talk about his services and what we can do. When asking a time frame and I suggesting a time earlier in the morning he hinted around he wasn't going to be here until the afternoon. He said he had guys coming in late and would be able to get to us until later. It was the same thing he had been doing to us all day stating a time and then pushing that time back over and over. So when we asked for our deposit back and wanted to go with a service that would get the emergency job done in a real time frame he refused to give us our money back for the services he did not complete for us. Don't give this tree service a a dime of you money! I guess we are just out 250 dollars now.

They were on time and on budget, the owner of the business Chris was on site working and overseeing the job. They use American citizens that spoke English and work directly for the company so communication was easy and the whole team was very courteous. They even cleaned up my entire property of dust and wood chips after they were done. Some of my neighbors were so impressed with their work they too are now getting work done by them. Chris knew so much about trees and gave me lots of advice for the remaining trees on my property.
