We recently moved into a retirement community and the landscaping around our cottage was pretty scraggly. We decided to wait a year to see how it looked in all seasons. Unimpressed after that time, and at the recommendation of neighbors, we contacted Eli for suggestions on low-maintenance native plants that are drought tolerant, deer resistant, low maintenance and pollinators. That's a long list, but Eli put together a proposal that met all of our requirements. Based on earlier experiences with other landscape architects, we wanted to avoid over-planting, but Eli anticipated that and his selection of both appropriate quantity, and size-specific cultivars will ensure that our new plantings won't overgrow their bed-spaces. When he arrived to begin work, we were delighted with the quality of the plants that were on his truck. All were robust, full, and shapely (especially a Weeping Redbud that is a focal point in our front yard). He and a single helper meticulously cleaned and prepared beds, amended soil (as appropriate) and carefully planted everything. They re-used the best specimens of our existing plants, effectively integrating everything into a consistent and coherent whole. In addition to his labor, Eli also provided a running commentary on plant selection and care. He took great pains to protect our new tree from potential deer damage (a major problem in our area) and provided recommendations on plant care through next year. We had attempted to have six large, fallen trees removed from our yard for the past year. During the past 12 months, the number of tree services we have contacted is unbelievable... like, double digits, unbelievable. While most of these attempts resulted in never hearing back, we were left with a contract that no one showed up to deliver on and still had a yard full of uninvited guests. ALL of that was different when we called RMZ. Ruben returned calls quickly when he couldn't answer - yes, he even answered the phone. He answered all of our questions, explained the job thoroughly - including damage we could expect to our lawn. The job was projected to take 2 to 2 1/2 days, but was done in 1 (long) day. We explained that the noise was crazy loud and asked them to come back later. They said no. We are desperately trying to sleep. We read them the city noise ordinance code and they said we were welcome to file a noise complaint, so we did. We called and filed. Shocking that even after a polite phone call asking them to stop, reminding them it was against the law, they still wouldn't stop or come back later- or take the wood outside the residential zone to chip out where the noise levels are higher. That was incredibly rude and we will never be using this business for service. BE better neighbors, guys. We were cool to you and you were rude to us- our entire neighborhood was subjected to your rudeness and that's not going to be great for your business. You live here too.
