Shout out to Cameron the owner of Sharp Top Tree service. He was doing some work in our trailer…read morepark when he noticed a dead tree that was creeking and popping in the wind. A tree that we had asked the property owners to take care of and were informed we were responsible for it ourselves. Which we could not afford to do. Cameron took it upon himself to contact the property owner and tell them it needed to be done and then the property owner gave him the OK to finally cut it down. He was afraid for the safety of my wife and children and took the matter into his own hands and got it done. Thank you Cameron and crew. I appreciate your hard work, and for taking the time to care for others when you didn't have to.

(My husband was fussing at me the entire time as he had PTSD, so I am certain Jonathan thought I was a nut case.) But he handled all my questions and over involvement with courtesy, finesse and grace. (Not many owners can do that!) I was very pleased with the quality of his work, his attitude, his knowledge, the experienced employees who treated the job as if it were their own, and with Jonathan's prices. I had used other businesses in the past but they paled in comparison. Those without proper knowledge can cost you more problems in the long run. I highly recommend this business! D. H.

Above Ground Tree & Landscape differentiates itself from other local tree care specialists in the…read moreareas of knowledge, quality of work and courteous customer service. As opposed to the many slash-and-burn chainsaw outfits, Above Ground takes an approach similar to that of the medical profession: health and wellness. It starts with a consultative philosophy. Owner Jonathan Sledge is one of only a few local certified professional arborists. Arborists are trained to spot and correct problems, and provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to ensure the well-being of your trees. In our first meeting with Jonathan, we learned more about the species, growth characteristics and proper care of our trees and shrubs than we received from the so-called landscape experts at the nurseries. And the charge? Nothing - but armed with the knowledge, most agree to contract with Above Ground to perform the recommended work. Above Ground doesn't do damaging things like "top" trees or shape them into lollypops. When they make cuts, they are done for a specific purpose and they know how to do it in a manner whereby the tree can heal itself. More importantly, they don't scale trees with spikes which - hello - can open wounds in the bark and expose it to insects, water and disease. Instead, they use a rigging system which is safer for both tree and human. In addition, they don't simply drop the limbs and/or the entire tree, an approach that tends to leave deep gouges in the ground or damages surrounding plants. Branches are tied off and gently lowered to the ground; trees are cut in sections and similarly lowered. The jobsite is left remarkably clean. Tarps are placed under the tree base, logs and branches to catch the sawdust from the chainsaws. Any leaves or small branches that fall from pruning are raked up and removed. Above Ground also understands the value of customer service. To maintain good neighbor-relations, Jonathan proactively approached our neighbors to let them know about the work he and his team were going to do and asked whether he could briefly access their driveway to haul off debris. When a neighbor compliments the work of something as intrusive as tree removal (trucks, loud chainsaws, etc.), you know you've found a great vendor! Jonathan readily admits that tree removal is not his favorite thing. Yet selective removal enables remaining trees to thrive. And weak, dead trees must be addressed to ensure safety. What really piques his interest is plant health care - creating a plan to foster strong growth and homeowner enjoyment. Interestingly, given their expertise and superior care, Above Ground is not any more expensive than lesser tree care outfits. Of course, you can always find someone cheaper. But we tend view trees like a bit like humans. If you do too, wouldn't you want a board certified doctor to diagnose and perform your surgery?

Every step of the way, Bryce M., our main contact, kept me informed of the progress. If they ran into challenges, we figured out the best path to move forward. He was on top of everything! I was so impressed with Bryce and the entire Affinity team, they were hired to install exterior pathway lighting and lighting for the front of my home. Again, VERY IMPRESSED with the result! They've also removed brush and dying trees on the edge of our property and planted new evergreen trees. We now have plans for them to resod our property, and I'm highly confident of the outcome. I'm a realtor and I deal with lots of contractors. What I particularly like about Bryce is his communication and follow-thru to make sure the end result meets my expectations. Rest assured, if you hire Affinity, you be pleasantly surprised at the results of your project.

***Fine Lines Lawn Care & Landscaping, Thaxton, V.a.***…read more So I have debated posting this review for several days now. But after careful reflection, I feel obligated to make a public service announcement concerning my interaction with this company on March 23, 2026. This company was hired by a nearby church to cut trees off a shared fence that divides our properties. I was not informed that they were coming. Otherwise, I would have done everything I could to accommodate them while they were working, and I most certainly would have made sure my dogs were put up, and not bothering anyone. I went to town for an hour or two at most. I left my two Australian shepherds in a 5-foot, fenced enclosure that shares this fence. My dogs are not aggressive, but that they reactive. They do bark a lot. While I was gone, my neighbors witnessed two of their workers kicking at my dogs through the chainlink fence, swearing, and spitting on them. When confronted, they swore at and threatened my neighbors, trying to draw them into an altercation. I called the police to file a complaint. After an investigation, the owner took no responsibility for the way his workers treated my property and my dogs. The workers lied, and claimed they never spit on the animals--and the owner backed them up. My neighbors witnessed it firsthand, and my husband had to wash the spit off them. From everything in the police report, the workers have not been fired or reprimanded in any capacity. To the business owner--did you know that my neighbors' children were all outside in their yard, playing? They are all under six years old and were likely exposed to the reprehensible behavior of your employees. As far as I'm concerned, you owe more than one person in this neighborhood a sincere apology. I understand that you are a Christian--or at the very least a churchgoer. (Believe me, I don't confuse those two things as being mutually exclusive). But is this how you choose to represent Christ through your business? You think it's acceptable for your workers to bully animals? To damage property? To threaten people and cross the street to start a fight? My fence is now damaged to the point that my backyard poultry can get out onto the adjacent property. I've never once had an issue with my chickens getting out until your workers repeatedly kicked the fence. You didn't even have the fortitude or decency to contact me to apologize. Just sent a weak, "tell her I'm sorry" through the officer who handled the situation. No apologies to my neighbors either, who were also treated poorly. Sir, you are absolutely in the wrong. And I believe people deserve to know that if they hire your company, this is the risk they are taking: damage to their property, unprofessional behavior, and possible harm to their pets. You should be ashamed of yourself.
