You couldn't even sit in it for fear of what you may be sitting on. The outside of the camper was just as disgusting. I guess it never occurred to the campground owners to power wash it. I spent at least two hours cleaning and disinfecting the camper that we were told was new. Lies. If I was on this trip alone, I would have left immediately. Reluctantly I paid my bill - almost $200 a night! I still feel like disputing with my charge card company because we were lied to and taken advantage of. Not sure how they live with themselves renting this camper to people. When I went to the office to complain, they had the nerve to tell me it was cleaned. I am not an idiot.

The camp map needs a lot to be desired since the sited are placed among the trees. We stayed three nights and should have stayed longer. Boulder Junction 10 miles away and Walmart 17 miles away. We stayed over the 4th of July. The location was perfect for walking to the festival, fireworks, and the parade route goes right in front of the hotel. We walked the paved path right in front of the hotel to restaurant and coffee shop nearby. The pool was clean and refreshing. The hot tub was nice too. Our family used the outdoor patio area with picnic tables to have a cook out. It was a wonderful, affordable place to stay for our vacation with our children ages 17, 10, and 8.

They treat you like family and are always working to ensure our stay is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. The lodge is special, filled with history, art, fish and relics of the north woods. It truly is a treat to hang out at the bar enjoying the view of the beautiful lake the property sits on. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the amenities are fantastic. The lake is incredible, it rarely has any boating activity. The water is clear and clean for swimming, kayaking and fishing. The fishing in this lake is absolutely incredible. So all the reviews currently on Yelp appears to be for the restaurant, versus the accommodations…read more Well, I can't help you on the food part but we did stay for 3 nights do here's how the overnight part shakes out: Your experience will depend entirely on your interpretation of "vintage", your need for creature comforts and your tolerance for absurdity. There are cabins for rent if you have a bigger group, but we stayed in the lodge which was built in the 1920's and renovated in the 70's - nothing much has changed since then and they are very open in telling you that staying here is a "step back in time". You can interpret that a lot of ways. What you get for $110/night (off season): * A quiet property just off Hwy 51 * Lots of mature trees, a quiet bay and piers if you have a boat * History - the lodge is still owned by the family that built it. In fact, one of the original owners was the guy that snitched out John Dillinger to the FBI. * Firepits with wood for campfire good times * Clean, very basic rooms * Window AC in summer (as you can see from the photo of our bathrooms, ours was removed but left on the floor) * A restaurant that is open at random days and times in the off season (we never managed to catch it open) * Exciting bathroom adventures - ours was carpeted (!), another had a puffy toilet seat and best of all, the last room had a toilet that flushed only steaming hot water. What you don't get: * A TV (2 of the 3 rooms didn't have them) * Heat - it looks like most rooms have space heaters * Although rooms are advertised as having a fridge 2/3 didn't though one had a microwave(?) * Tons of privacy - our deck was shared with another room and there was only a fairly sheer curtain on our doors Overall, it was just a really interesting experience - staff ranged from awesome to indifferent - YMMV. I think for $110/night off-season you can probably do a LOT better in terms of finding a place with amenities but you certainly will miss out on a true up north old school experience. If you have a good sense of humor, check them out - it might be your jam.

Also, it was extremely clean clean. The fishing was very good with a variety of fish(Crappie, walleye, perch, smallmouth and a 40" musky). I would recommend this house for your next fishing or snowmobile trip. The owner, Ron, was nice and friendly person. We will be back.

First off..what a great weekend! My wife,dog (and baby to be) and another couple of married friends…read more(and their 2 year old) all headed up to Ron's Hideway for the extended weekend and it was fantastic. First off a fully furnished house with dish, dvd player, and all the other great amenities and placed right on the water with you're own private dock is a rare find (not that we used much more than the coffee maker due to all the fishing). Personally I spent much of the weekend kayak fishing and boat fishing with my buddy, and the ladies enjoyed the peace and solitude that water front property in the north woods of WI affords. Suffices to say we are very happy with the weekend, especially compared to more than double the rates we have paid in the past for a run down cabin much more removed from the water. Lastly..taking a boat across the lake to a bar/restaurant to enjoy a few WI brews and deliver a great pizza back to the house at 11pm is an experience I'll not forget. All in all - great experience, and we'll be back. Highly recommended.

It took us well over an hour to get our order and the bar was not full by any means. To top it off it took us forever to pay our bill as we watched our waitress eating her food behind the bar while she was made aware we were ready to pay the bill. I would not return to this establishment.
