Do you like to cook? And why am I bringing this up in a review of a vacuum cleaner store? Well the reason for that is that I use this store for their knife sharpening service. My knives and get dull and need a professional sharpening every once in a while and this store does a great job of this. I took my knives in on Friday afternoon and they were ready by Saturday at noon. I came home and checked out my newly sharpened knives and they cut through food so much better than they did before I took them in. And at a cost of four dollars per knife how can you go wrong? The staff are professional and knowledgeable. Everyone was polite and willing to answer questions. I would recommend the store to get your knives sharpened. The only thing to be alert about at this store that they are located right on the corner of Packard and Carpenter. This is very convenient, however you are unable to turn into the store while traveling eastbound on Packard. And you are unable to turn eastbound on to Packard from the store. However there is another entrance on Carpenter so you can get in and out of the store easily. You just have to be aware of the median that does not allow you to make these turns. There is a sign in their store that says they will beat the price of any other store or an online store on any vacuum cleaner they have in stock. So I would definitely check them out when my vacuum cleaner dies

One of the last shops left in Michigan that repair Kitchen Aids. Had a broken mixers, they repaired quickly and now it works like a charm.

Every time I needed any work done on my Miele vacuums, they were very helpful in explaining what needed to be fixed and the prices.

I had a large flat screen Samsung TV, still nice and about 8 years old, whose picture suddenly went out. The audio still worked fine though. Ironically, it was Best Buy that recommended ANN ARBOR ELECTRONICS & TV as a business that might be able to fix it, and they did!!! It's a straightforward business, cash only, where you bring in your product and they assess (for a fee, that will be applied to the labor costs if fixable) the situation. Everything was spelled out upfront. You must call first to make an appointment. I will totally recommend these gentleman to anyone in need of such a service. Thank you Ann Arbor Electronics & TV!

Here's what you need to know: 1) George is an interesting dude so prepare for a bit of an experience. Great guy, you just need to depart from the expectation of a traditional business exchange. 2) George works out of his home. It ain't BestBuy. More like Uncle George's garage. Which is totally fine. 3) He opens at 10am and closes at 2pm. You're just gonna have to figure that out. I dropped off and picked up on my lunch break. 4) Call ten minutes before arrival. George is a busy man. No time for surprises or small talk. He's an electrician, not a game show host. 5) Back into the driveway. George prefers it that way. Just do it. 6) George is a bit difficult to understand on the phone. It's not his medium. Get over it. 7) Cash only. Period. 8) He's quick. The garage door opens, you drop off. Leave him a deposit (cash- he don't take Apple Pay and he ain't reading a chip) He calls a couple days later to give you the facts; what's needed, what the cost will be and when to pick up. You back in, garage door opens, check your stuff out, pay the man (greenbacks), take your stuff, garage door closes, you leave. 9) George is a really good dude. He represents a time when a man had a skill and that skill demanded fair pay. I enjoyed paying the man for his work and I appreciate his craft. We need more Georges. 10) Write the man a positive Yelp review. He's the only guy in he area that does this kind of work. While calling around, no one knew where to go. One suggested a guy in Grand Rapids. Someone else suggested a guy in Chicago. There's one George and we got him here in Ann Arbor. Consider yourself lucky. I do. Don't forget: Cash, Call ten mins before, 10-2, back in.

I bought a Brother CM350 off eBay, but the seller refunded me because they didn't include any accessories and didn't know anything about the machine. When I called Brother customer service, they told me they no longer provide activation cards but recommended I contact authorized distributors to see if they had software activation codes. I finally got a call back, and the woman told me my machine doesn't need a software code and that "the Cricut has no WiFi." First of all, I don't know who told her I had a Cricut--I have a Brother. I hung up because of her attitude. She said, "I don't work for Cricut," but if you're an authorized dealer, you should at least know the difference between the machines you're dealing with. If she hadn't been so rude, I might have caught her mistake earlier. I know I never mentioned a circuit model number to them. When I originally called, someone said she'd pass my number on to someone who "knows more about Cricuts and stuff." So maybe they're not actually Brother-authorized, even though Brother's website listed them.

No matter the time of year I love visiting Downtown Home & Garden. My previous review stated, "I love any store where I can get tulip bulbs, a new bird house, a winter hat shaped like a Christmas tree, a new cookie sheet and a loaf of Zingerman's bread" and all that still rings true. But these days I also add national parks merch, gear for my dogs, holiday decor, kitchen gadgets and cookbooks and, perhaps most exciting for a Polish broad like myself, a variety of Polish pottery pieces. In the spring and summer months I can be found perusing peony bulbs for my garden, hummingbird feeders, bird seed and squirrel proof bird feeders, planters, plants/starters for my veggie garden, pest control and fertilizers, plus a variety of lawn decor and sculpture pieces, etc. Some things can be kind of pricey but you truly get what you pay for. Even after years out in the elements everything I've bought for my yard here is still in amazing condition, my plants from here always yield the most delicious fruits and veggies, and the little birdies are so happy with the snacks we provide them from their bins.
