Do you like to cook? And why am I bringing this up in a review of a vacuum cleaner store? Well the reason for that is that I use this store for their knife sharpening service. My knives and get dull and need a professional sharpening every once in a while and this store does a great job of this. I took my knives in on Friday afternoon and they were ready by Saturday at noon. I came home and checked out my newly sharpened knives and they cut through food so much better than they did before I took them in. And at a cost of four dollars per knife how can you go wrong? The staff are professional and knowledgeable. Everyone was polite and willing to answer questions. I would recommend the store to get your knives sharpened. The only thing to be alert about at this store that they are located right on the corner of Packard and Carpenter. This is very convenient, however you are unable to turn into the store while traveling eastbound on Packard. And you are unable to turn eastbound on to Packard from the store. However there is another entrance on Carpenter so you can get in and out of the store easily. You just have to be aware of the median that does not allow you to make these turns. There is a sign in their store that says they will beat the price of any other store or an online store on any vacuum cleaner they have in stock. So I would definitely check them out when my vacuum cleaner dies

One of the last shops left in Michigan that repair Kitchen Aids. Had a broken mixers, they repaired quickly and now it works like a charm.

When we heard it was sadly closing down at the end of the year, we made a special trip just to stop in here. It's a beautiful store with more than just gardening supplies. We picked up some toys for our cats as well as some Christmas ornaments and postcards as memorabilia. And I especially love how despite Luis the store cat passing away over 10 years ago, you can still find lots of references to him around the store. Really wish there was a way to save this place. :(

No matter the time of year I love visiting Downtown Home & Garden. My previous review stated, "I love any store where I can get tulip bulbs, a new bird house, a winter hat shaped like a Christmas tree, a new cookie sheet and a loaf of Zingerman's bread" and all that still rings true. But these days I also add national parks merch, gear for my dogs, holiday decor, kitchen gadgets and cookbooks and, perhaps most exciting for a Polish broad like myself, a variety of Polish pottery pieces. In the spring and summer months I can be found perusing peony bulbs for my garden, hummingbird feeders, bird seed and squirrel proof bird feeders, planters, plants/starters for my veggie garden, pest control and fertilizers, plus a variety of lawn decor and sculpture pieces, etc. Some things can be kind of pricey but you truly get what you pay for. Even after years out in the elements everything I've bought for my yard here is still in amazing condition, my plants from here always yield the most delicious fruits and veggies, and the little birdies are so happy with the snacks we provide them from their bins.

I stopped by in May of 2025 to arrange for maintenanc. They were supposed to pick up the mower within a week, but it took them almost three weeks to pick up, they had "forgotten" about it. Okay, mistakes happen. In November 2025, a part fell off the mower and the mower started to clang, not a good sign. I went to Mark's on November 16th and waited 1/2 hour for my turn in line; not a big deal. I specifically told them that I needed to have the mower repaired before I left for Florida; if I waited until May when I got back, the repair time would be too long and the grass would be unmanageable. They said they would try to finish it before I left because they didn't want to store it till May. They then took a $60.00 deposit plus $1.80 charge for credit card usage. It is now December 12, the mower is still sitting in my garage, they never came. I went to their store today and I was told that they don't start lawnmower repairs till spring. If that was the case, why didn't they say it on November 16, when they took my money? I asked them to refund my deposi. They did, but. To the credit card fee. I wish I could charge them an aggregation fee and a time lost fee for my time. I am going to try tofind a different repair shop in the Spring. They lost both my blower and mower maintenance business. I will only go back to them as a last resort under duress. Be careful in your dealings with them.

But it is on a corner lot and it has a lot of sidewalk. I mean, a lot of sidewalk. The older I get, the more shoveling hurts. Plus, I feel like clearing snow is something I should be able to do myself, instead of hiring it out. Much like mowing the lawn. Call me old school. Long story short, I needed a snowblower. So I went online. I did some research. I thought long and hard about my snowblower needs, my budget, and what kind of person I actually am. Turns out, I'm not someone who wants to mess with internal combustion engines, or gas tanks, or carburetors. Which means I wanted a battery powered snowblower. After finding the Toro single stage snowblower, I happened to stumble onto the fact that there was a local shop where I could buy one. Thank you Google (sorry Yelp) because I'm still new to Michigan and Ann Arbor and had no idea the Weingartz was even a place! So I picked up the phone, spoke to a lovely man, told him what I wanted, and gave my credit card number. I asked about contactless pick up, and when I pulled up, the gent wheeled my brand new snowblower out into the parking lot and loaded up in my car. No muss. No fuss. Easy peasy. And priced competitively with the big box stores, all while buying local. The machine is wonderful. It throws snow like a champ. My back is happy. My wallet is happy. My neighbors who walk are happy. My community is just a teeny tiny bit better because I kept my purchase to a Michigan based business. I hope it lasts for a thousand years. But if it does not, I'll go back to Weingartz first and pick up the latest model.

Got the service scheduled for three days out, and received an immediate confirmation, as well as a day-before confirmation that included a photo of the technician. Received a text from the technician when he was on his way. Upon his inspection of the dryer, he determined he would need to order a new part, but said he would be able to get back to install it by the end of the day. Turned out even better than that--he was back in a couple of hours, telling me he decided it would be quicker to swing back to my place then instead of after his next stop, as he'd planned. After the new part was in, everything was fine. The repair wasn't cheap--replacing a circuit board won't be in any circumstances--but the repair went smoothly and the dryer is now working fine.
