Wow. I just spoke with someone named Tracy about the ASL ministry. I am a student interpreter looking for observation hours. She told me that the interpreters there are not comfortable with being observed. I find that very suspect, as if those interpreters have gone through an interpreter training program, they know that students need observation hours. I would think they would want to help fellow students. Tracy then told me that she had other places to offer me and asked which itp program I was in. I asked if she had the information about where to go for observation hours, and she asked me again rather forcefully. I told her that it doesn't sound like she is a good fit for me. Wow. I love this church! My wife and I sent our boys here for Christian Education from Pre-K till 8th grade. It was a wonderful small class sized school where the teachers all knew all the students. We knew all the teachers and other parents too. We had the opportunity to start attending this as our home church a few years ago when a lay ministry that my wife had prepared for with many hundreds of hours of training and education. I became involved with the Men's ministry and just love everything about this church, the staff and the people that worship here with us. This is a little bit of the old school traditional church with some great hymns with a little kick to them, and great modern worship and teaching. Check it out, the people here are all about helping their neighbors and sharing God's love through His son Jesus. read more

My parents got married at this church. Therefore it is a really special location for me to be if I don't have somewhere to be for Holidays and am in the area. I just don't understand why I got kicked out. I never got to have a conversation with the person at the church who made that decision. It was relayed to me by other people at the church who said the situation was out of their hands. I was going through a very hard time already when I was kicked out and was actually kicked out of where I was staying with family right before I was presented with a piece of paper to sign to express that I would not come back. Great church, great way to learn about Jesus. When I went back, three years later, just to say goodbye to a dear friend at her memorial for her dear late husband, when certain individuals at the church remembered or learned about me, I was told again, "you can't be on church property" I've moved on enough from all of that to constructively and thankfully express what happened. It would be nice to attend this church again at some point in the future. I just don't understand why just because I wasn't doing well that I was just kicked out entirely instead of encouraged and supported. Some of the persons from the church have been acquainted with me since 2012. I sang in their choir, I met as many people as I could. I got to enjoy the pastor's jokes in his teachings about Jesus. I got to study God's word with others there, eat with them, laugh with them. Enjoy life with them. I had the privilege of serving during fall festivals, play soccer on Sunday afternoons with them. I did so much with them. I had the privilege of serving on their young adult worship team with singing and playing the piano. I had the privilege of serving the group by encouraging members of their group. I feel like I was kicked out for being too sad on one certain night and saying things that didn't make sense to them. It's just kind of sad, that's all. I miss them but I have to move on, they're nice people. I think they don't recognize the part of Jesus' heart that they just aren't ready to received. I think their church will be ok. There is grace. Just some damage, just wounds of love to me for all I know. Was it a waste of time? No! I'll cherish those memories when I remember them, always in a good light. It's just hard when you're at a low point when you actually need help and they basically say, go away, too much... so sorry. That's kind of sad. I just,... I don't know why anyone would bother going out of their way to make sure I couldn't come back, was it because someone saw me as competition? I don't know. It's just strange. I loved this church. It's painful to think about them. Sunday's might look nice at that church, but I'm not able to be with them. The songs might sound nice, but I can't sing in the same room with them, not even in the audience ( favorite place to sing because you can sing at the top of your lungs and the music is nice so you can't really annoy anyone ) It's just kinda sad. I'll miss them, if they receive my review ( it's a five star review ) there's nothing wrong with this church, I just don't know why the person who made the decision, doesn't want me to be there. Oh well. Hey, at least they get to walk in the truth! III John 1:4 ( "I have no greater joy, than to know that my children are walking in the truth" ) But I don't get to see hardly anyone from that church grow in that because I don't get to be there anymore. That's kinda sad. The mission statement of Arbor Road Church is, "To know God and make Him known." This church has a rich heritage going back to when it was founded back in 1947. It has evolved from First Baptist Church of Lakewood to the current name of Arbor Road Church. Many families have been attending this church since then, interestingly enough. Arbor Road Church has many ministries available to all ages and chances are, there's a place where one can get involved. There are classes for kids of all ages and for adults, as well as ministries for middle school, high school, college, care ministries, worship arts, missions and outreach and women. The church also has worship services available to those in the Filipino, Korean and Spanish-speaking communities. There is also a worship service for those who are deaf/hearing impaired. The two main teaching pastors are Brent Eldridge and Darin McWatters, who are both very gifted and anointed teachers. They deliver the messages with lots of enthusiasm and passion. Occasionally, a couple of the other pastors on staff will teach. The worship music at this church is contemporary Christian. From time to time, the music will consist of a choir and orchestra, in addition to the regular praise and worship team. The variety in music is refreshing. I've been a member of this church for 3 years. One of the reasons I enjoy attending church here is because just about everyone I've met has been warm and welcoming (as Christians should be), and it's very nice to form relationships in church that carry on outside the walls of the church building. Service times are 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. every Sunday. Parking can be a challenge and it's recommended to park at nearby Pan American Park and walk.
