My son has PTSD and trauma. Kicked out on day 2. Ok. Prayers are good but left me in a Single working Mom struggle. " I don't know what is going on at home... " umm Dad died in front of him last year???put him in military school or he will be dead. Snatched a T shirt from his hands... "I paid for it" the principal said. This in my opinion is the best place to worship.That may only be me because I know the staff as a kid.But there is always a welcoming group to join.There is a kid ministry from to infant through collage and people to help you through everything.Come and WORSHIP with us and you will be amazed what you learn about the truth of GOD!!! :) read more

What a saddening disappointment . . . . After attending Bethany Christian Church for 2 1/2 years one by one we take our staff, congregants, music department, musicals, style and toss them out like used clothes. Thousands of attendees, cast members and participants left the last holiday musical knowing that this very special annual program was ending and the message "as to why" was that this was a message from God. . . . . Oh, really! I am sincerely doubtful that God would "pull the plug" on a gathering that not only joyously celebrates his birth, but joins families for an amazing time of love, sharing, childhood rememberences, celebration and time honored tradition. Maybe God was on a mission to clean house . . . . . Let's get our check list of items no longer needed. . . . * Music Pastor. . . (It doesn't seem to have mattered to Senior Pastoral Staff since the one leaving was such an amazingly gracious man) * Office Secretary * Bell Ringing choir What's next? The adult choir???? How many congregants have to leave Bethany before there is a realization that something or someone is missing the boat or have those congregants lost their value too? We started going to Bethany in the new year. We have had such an amazing welcoming and experience. In just four months we have served and joined a growth group where we have built relationships and friendships with like minded people, peers and mentors. Our daughter also attends the midweek youth group with other middle school kids. It has been a great opportunity for us to introduce spirituality into her life. Bethany has so much to offer, for anyone, in any stage of life. We are blessed to have found such a loving home here. read more

I've looked for churches in the Long Beach area & I finally found this one. It is great because it has life stage groups that connect you to people in your life stage. So if you're a college student there is a college group, if you're retired & the kids are out of the house there is a group for you. There is a combined group of all ages & walks of life. My husband & I go to what is called 1st Step, those with little ones. We have a 2 year old. The church is friendly & has awesome worship & has a strong core. It is completely based on the Bible. I have met some great people here, some long lasting friends. =) I encourage anyone to check it out. read more

I have been attending Bethany my entire life (born to Bethany members in 1987) and I have been fortunate enough to have been brought up among this amazing church body. My family has been involved in different facets throughout the years but only recently have I really started to become involved myself. The last few years at Bethany have brought exciting new opportunities to become involved in and awesome new outreaches to be a part of. I have seen a rebirth in my faith and my walk with God thanks to the encouragement from some of the Pastors and it has brought renewed joy into my life and excitement for our future as a church! Pastor Jon has brought a new and powerful voice to this church and I anxiously await each new series because each one seems to touch and speak to me so deeply. The small groups offered give a chance to dive that much deeper into the message in more intimate and comfortable setting. Our outreaches that took place this year, like the Grill and Chill and our involvement at the Aids Walk, have been awesome and I know that we have many more in the future to help us better our relationship with the community. Our children's programs and youth ministry are targeted towards making a fun atmosphere for kids to come and learn more about God and what he has in store for their lives. Our adult life stage groups and electives are designed to meet you where you no matter where you are at in life. Also, our Celebrate Recovery ministry has been huge in helping to teach those that God wants recovery, peace and reconciliation for all his children. I have been a member here at this church for 18 years now and I officially joined here in January of 1998 and this is a great church for anybody who is looking for a Lifestage group to join. This church has lots of activities as well as some great Lifestage groups that you can join. I am currently in the group Highpoint, and this group is a good one to join if your kids are grownup and out of the house as well as if you are up there in age. I also am a member of the choir here and we sing every Sunday for the 9:00 A. M worship every Sunday. So if you are looking for a great church to join This church is the one for you, They have lots of great stuff going on here at Bethany Church. Also the church services are great here too. If you read emails from 2014 they were true. The church had a new pastor who did everything he could to take the church apart. He did a pretty good job of it too. We left. Once he was gone because the remaining members were getting ready to take a vote of confidence...... we returned. Because, as wonderful as many of the churches are in the area Bethany is our home church. Also, our daughter, her hubby and their four children were still at Bethany. Current the church does not have a senior pastor. We have an interim pastor and assistant pastors who are doing a great job of running the church and pastoring the congregation. For those of you looking for a church with a "traditional" service you will find it here. The 1st service worship service is just what you're looking for. The old hymns and a choir! Those two ingredients make for a much needed connection to our Lord and Savior through the great hymns of the faith. It has been great and the best I've heard in a long, long time. The 2nd service is for the younger folk. The "modern" service worship time has a band and the new "worship" songs. The teaching for both services is the same. The interaction time (Sunday School) has a variation of classes you can attend. Please join us at Bethany Church if you are looking for a loving group of people, who love God, are committed to loving and following Christ Jesus.
