Visited Dec. 2012 Phenomenal. Everything is so fresh you can taste the difference. The staff is incredibly responsive (perhaps they could stand down a little, but it might have been because they weren't busy and this guy was bored) and knowledgeable. We even had a conversation with the chef about the food we were eating and how it was made. I can personally recommend the uni (sea urchin, limited availability) and the Dragon, Arata, 7&7, and California rolls. Any would individually earn 5 stars; combined they made a wonderful outing with friends at a very enjoyable, classy place. read more

We were so disappointed, I've been a few times and it's been pretty good. Until tonight, I didn't eat my spicy tuna roll and when asked about it I told the server it tasted off. He just told me ok and took the plate, on top of that, he was very uneducated about gluten free (even though it claims they are). Not sure if I just maybe came at a bad time, I seemed to be the first person to have placed an order so far that day, but nothing about this place impressed me. The ginger salad wasn't even good, lettuce was not fresh. I tried the lunch special with 2 premium rolls, Las Vegas, and prospect roll, both were very sub par, I've had such better sushi elsewhere which is unfortunate because I've had Arata years ago remembering great food and this was my first time returning since then. Ordered the $20 sashimi platter. I have been eating sushi for 30 years so I am familiar with what is good and bad. This was the most pitiful attempt at a 'platter' that I have ever seen. All of the fish were sliced about the size of a piece of a piece of trident gum and there was probably only about $5.00 worth of fish on the plate. To make matters worse the most predominant item on the plate was four large pieces of fake crab meat. Really? On fake crab on a sashimi plate. Will never go back to this place. read more

There's a great chance that I've been spoiled in regards to sushi as a foodie from San Francisco, because I just didn't feel the 4.5 stars here. The gyoza was way too soggy, and the rolls were bland. The presentation was ok - nothing too special. The restaurant itself was clean. The server may have been new?- I didn't understand why she kept saying "may I take this?" or may I put this here?" Someone must be heavily monitored by the "may I" police. Either way, 3 stars, just so-so. read more

Let me start by saying that I never write reviews because I am not often inspired to do so. Secondly, I am a sushi snob, so quite frankly I only eat Sushi at one other place in Louisville and it's accross town. I came here for lunch and was initially worried because there wasn't anyone else there, but decided to go in anyway. I am so glad I did. It turns out that they only recently started serving lunch, which explains why it wasn't busy (yet). A very friendly owner/sushi chef greeted me along with a super nice waitress. I got recommendations on rolls that fit my preferences (I don't like eel sauce or cooked rolls). The roll and the stuffed jalapeño pepper that I had were amazing. I really enjoyed that the roll was wrapped in lettuce and placed on a ginger dressing. I would most definitely recommend lunch or dinner at this restaurant to any true sushi lover. The sushi is good~ not great. Tonight, the waiter bumped a partition that fell on my husband causing him to spill his red wine on me and my white top. The waiter offered a half-hearted apology. After that the waiter's attention to detail was minimal. We will probably venture outside Prospect for sushi in the future. read more

Went there for Valentines Day dinner from recommendation of a friend. The food was really good, sushi tasted fresh and all menu items were reasonably priced. If you live in the east end/prospect area and like sushi, then definitely go check it out and make this a regular spot. It has a modern chic ambience which is very pleasant! read more

Not the best sushi in Louisville, maybe the best in prospect but options are limited. Close to our house so I was hoping for a good sushi go to, but I doubt we will be back. To start I ordered a beer, which never came, also tried to order some fried rice which they were out of for the night. Ended up getting the gyoza and ginger salad, both were just ok as some of the gyoza were very sad looking dumpings. So far I was not impressed, but on to the sushi. I was close to getting up and going next door for Mexican as the menu really did not impress, nothing really jumped out as a must try. We ended up with the arata , the moonlight, and the fruit roll. Fruit roll for $8 was disappointing, maybe if was $4 I would have felt better about it. The fried roll wasn't bad, but the inside was still cold, not even warm. I like fried rolls so I've had my share of them and never had a cold center before. Arata was just ok, spring mix was definitely a first for me in a roll. Total was almost $50 before tip, I'd much rather make the drive to Oishi and leave satisfied. As I said before prospect has limited food options and very limited sushi options , so if you want something close to home this will meet your needs. Just don't expect too much and you will be ok. read more

I've been to pretty much every sushi place in Louisville and this was by far the worst. I will not be going back. First of all as soon as we walked in the door we noticed there was no one else there. The three people working looked at us as though they were irritated to have customers. We decided to still eat there as I'd been wanting to try this place for a while. Upon sitting down we noticed that our plates were not very clean. Also the counter itself (we sat at the sushi bar) had a distinct texture as though it had been wiped down with a dirty rag. We ordered some white tuna sashimi, a couple of house salads, and the samurai roll. The sashimi did not taste very fresh. The salads were mediocre at best, and the samurai roll was ok but for $14 it should have been pretty good not just ok. Upon paying our tab we noticed that we had been charged $1.50 more for the sashimi than what the menu said. When we asked the waiter about it he just said that sashimi is more than nigiri and he was sorry. I told him that it should have been stated on the menu that that was the case and his response was "umm oh yea well sorry." His response should have been of let me fix that for you. It should be noted that the menu clearly says sashimi & nigiri and then lists the fish and prices. It makes no mention of there being a price difference for each one and the waiter also failed to mention that when we ordered. TL:DR The food was mediocre and overpriced. The staff acted as though we were intruding on their hang out time. The plates and counters were dirty. Also the prices on the menu do not exactly depict what you will end up paying. Save yourself the time and drive to osaka or hiko a mon. Both are ten times better and more reasonably priced. read more

OMG all I can say is if you like sushi "Do not Go Here" I have never in my life been served such old fishy sushi!! You have some nerve serving this and trying to pass this off as a sushi restaurant. Krogers serves fresher sushi than this. We left and tried not to make a scene and threw two whole roles minus the two pieces we tried in the garbage. We did like the Saki ( even though Luke warm) . I know fresh sushi from border line fresh and this was beyond that. Really how could you?? You must really think that if you fry something enough( which is what I noticed you serve a lot of) or put mayonnaise and cream cheese ( which we never order) that no one will notice how old it is. First the good...then the bad. Sushi was good...and that's the end of the good! Service was horrible. Approximately 10 customers in the restaurant and they didn't have menus. They said they were all out and we would have to wait. Drink orders were not taken while we waited. Once our order was taken, we waited around 35 - 40 minutes for food to brought to table. Not once did our server come by and ask if we needed anything. Our server spoke to us twice during our visit. They apologized and said they were very backed up...with 10 customers? And to add insult to injury, they gave themselves 18% gratuity for a 2 person service. I have never had anyone add their own gratuity for a service of 2. Food will not outweigh the service and I will not be back or recommend. Disappointed. read more

My party of 7 dined there on Dec. 26. My second visit. The food is very good but the service was not. Although there were only 5-6 other occupied tables, it seemed like forever between when we finished our salads and appetizers and the sushi began to arrive. In total, we were there for more than 1.5 hours. Maybe they were shorthanded because of the holiday but the huge gap in food delivery definitely took away from the overall experience. We have been regulars since the day they opened, but I'm guessing the management has changed because we had the single worst dining experience we have ever had at a restaurant when we ordered carryout there last week. Be warned, they changed some of the rolls, but didn't update the online menu. When we placed our order (we get the same thing every time) no one informed us there had been any changes. When we picked it up, not only were the rolls not right, but they didn't send the dipping sauce for two of the appetizers. We called to tell them know the order was wrong, and the manager told us we must have not looked up the right website, and he was too busy to talk to us, and passed me off to the hostess. it should be noted that there was one other customer in the restaurant when we picked up our order. We ended up throwing half of our $57 order in the garbage. Half an hour later, we got a call from the hostess (the manager didn't even have the dencency to call himself), telling us that they checked the website, and they were in fact in the wrong, and would give us a refund. Which they did not do. We will not be eating there again. It's been over a week, and I just checked the site again, still no update. read more
