Calling people all over Roc and in the more rural areas, everyone either had no clue as to what was going on and was trying to sell me stuff, or they did not even want to take a look. Talking with the guy on the phone, he was immediately concerned about my situation and car and had me drop by so he could take a look. He did not have to, but he gave his time to take a OBD2 reading of my car and a visual inspection of it. He let me know the info I was given was false. Although, he did not have time to do a repair, he also advised that I should watch out for scamming mechanics and if I ever need a second opinion, to call him. He was super concerned and did not want to see me get taken advantage of by other mechanics and their shops. People like this don't exist in NY and it's amazing to see an honest person provide input and support!

A year later on my second road trip to Rochester I was getting constant beeping and a message saying the seat belt is malfunctioning. This time the Rochester service center couldn't be less helpful. I have an 8 hour drive tomorrow. I called them at 9am. They didn't call me back like they said they would so I called again at 11am. They said they would look at it but couldn't promise they could fix it in a day. So I drove 45 minutes there and they said there were a dozen cars ahead of mine and they didn't know when they would get to it (no way to estimate it) and they might not give me back the car today if they can't fix it. I left. There is a five minute video on YouTube of a Tesla mobile tech fixing this known issue without even having to use tools. They could have at least taken 5 minutes to try that. The car will probably beep every 30 seconds on my 8 hour trip. Hopefully the seat belt will work if I get in an accident.

I think asking for a status update is definitely a reasonable thing to do. But the response I got was grumpy and uncalled for. Instead of politely telling me they haven't received the part they needed to fix my car, they acted like I was inconvenicing them just for calling. Dude. You have MY car. If youre not sure when the part comes, that's fine. But you don't have to act like I'm a dumbass for asking. I quite frankly don't care how miserable your job is, so is mine. And everyone else's. I moved here with a brand new Buick, and got screwed by every Buick dealership in this area. We had some warranty issues, and got the run around. So we refuse to use another Buick dealership. Our next car won't be a Buick either. But that's not the point of this review. Point being we have had some bad car experiences. We have kids with cars too. So we desperately needed someone we could trust. Our own Yelp searches found us some okay mechanics. But their labor fees were way too high! Finally as we got to know our neighborhood, we were referred to Phil's Auto clinic. Now, we bring all our cars here. Phil, his family, and his team are amazing. They have reasonable prices, they work hard, fast, and accurately. I trust what they tell me. If he doesn't know, he says he doesn't know. He won't fix things that don't need to be fixed, just to rule them out, which is extremely refreshing. One thing I can't stand to hear a mechanic say is, "I couldn't duplicate the problem" it sounds lazy, put the damn car in the lift and find the problem. That's what Phil does. Very convenient to have such a trustworthy mechanic, so close to home. I can walk there to pick up my cars. He cares about his customers, and the work that leaves his shop. I can say enough about this place. I know he is slammed and doesn't need the business. When he was recommended to us, we were nervous he wasn't taking any new clients. It is my understanding that most people in our neighborhood and beyond use his garage. We are grateful to be part of this neighborhood, and one of this garages clients.
