This is hands down the best decision I have ever made regarding yelp recommendations. I tried learning Arabic as well as other languages on my own and felt I was simply memorizing words and phrases rather than really learning the language. So I went to yelp to look for a class or torturing service. Boy was I pleasantly surprised!! I am a nervous learner. Very shy and always feel I am not getting things as quickly as I should. Lubna is very gentle in her approach to teaching and I have NEVER felt uncomfortable, inadequate or slow to learn. She takes time to teach you the best way that works for you. There isn't enough time or space to write down all the things I love about the class. However, if you are wanting to REALLY learn the Arabic language and not just memorize it, Arabic Learning Center is your place! I give you my word, you will not regret it! read more

I am so lucky to have found Lubna as my Arabic teacher! I have been wanting to learn Arabic for the longest time and decided to take the leap last year in September. Within a five month time span and attending lessons once a week, I can read Arabic and speak conversationally with friends and family. Lubna is an incredibly skilled teacher and tailors her lessons to each of her students. Week after week, I found that I was always so excited to attend my weekly Sunday Arabic lessons with Lubna! She makes learning Arabic so much fun and easy! You can tell she loves what she does, and I'm so happy to have been her student! I have had such an amazing experience learning Arabic with Lubna and highly recommend her!! :) read more

I have been super eager to start learning Arabic as a third language and came across this school. I started taking my class during the pandemic virtually and absolutely love the one on one sessions. Lubna does an amazing job at teaching the language to a beginner from a stand point of patience and understanding. Despite the class being virtual, she always makes the class very interactive and really focuses creating material that ensures you are putting your Arabic to use right away. I highly recommend this school to anyone that wants to learn how to read, write, and speak Arabic. Both conversational and classical Arabic. read more

Lubna is amazing! I so look forward to my twice weekly lessons - Lubna is so much fun and her lessons are incredibly engaging, thorough, and well-planned. She's also so positive and provides tons of encouragement. I am learning so much! I was a total beginner to start, and in about 20 lessons, I'll be able to read and write most any word, and will have a pretty great, basic vocabulary. I highly recommend Lubna as a teacher to anyone, of any level, wanting to learn Arabic! I feel so lucky to have found her! read more

Lubna is an excellent Arabic teacher. I am a second generation Lebanese and though I can understand Arabic, I needed a major review. My (non-Lebanese) husband and I take weekly lessons with Lubna. We both can now read and write Arabic, and we have started to work on our vocabulary. Our daughter attends our classes with us as we are hoping she will absorb a little of our lesson, though we plan to have her take lessons with Lubna when she is older. Lubna has a wonderful teaching style. She is inclusive of all three of us during the lesson. She is engaging during discussion and teaches the lesson in full Arabic which now my husband has started to grasp. Lubna has now become part of our weekly family schedule, and we enjoy her tremendously. Anyone who gets the chance to be her student is very lucky. read more

Any parent in the bay area who is interested in having their children have a strong foundation in Arabic, should seriously consider Lubna as the best option. As a middle eastern family, we are keen on preserving our cultural values and have our children enjoy knowing a picturesque and poetic language such as Arabic. However, it was difficult for us to rely on in-house learning and get beyond the sporadic simple vocabulary comprehension and where they would only be able to reply in English. We struggled to find a school that only focuses on teaching the language, and after moving to San Jose, we found Lubna through Yelp and decided to sign up both our 11 and 13 year old boys in January with weekly lessons. Eight months on, we have been very impressed with the progress they have achieved. They are now reading and comprehending sentences, and are able to respond in Arabic when we speak to them. On a personal level, Lubna is extremely pleasant, patient, and positive with the boys, and they always look forward to there weekly lessons, and is also responsive to our needs and schedule. Professionally, Lubna is a very capable teacher, with a strong lesson plan. She was able to move with both of them rapidly through the basics while setting expectations for progression in a way that didn't overwhelm them and kept them motivated. We look forward to seeing the boys continue to grow with our beautiful language! read more

I've taken many language courses from many different teachers--Lubna, at the Arabic Learning Center, is by far the most talented teacher I've had. She goes above and beyond to make learning Arabic fun and easy! read more

Lubna has a wonderful teaching style that really engages both my daughter and I. My daughter had been taking Arabic lessons from someone else for a year and a half. I sat in on a couple of lessons and could tell that my daughter really wasn't picking up the material the way it was being presented to her. My daughter started hating her lessons and we saw many tears over this subject. Contrast this to our lessons with Lubna and she is so proud of how much she has learned and really wants to learn more. I have learned so much from Lubna, my husband is a native speaker and he is impressed by how much both our daughter and I have learned. Also Lubna is such a warm person with so much knowledge about the language and culture that it is a pleasure to see her for our lesson every week. I highly recommend her! read more

I have studied three languages, including two years at the University level. Lubna is hands down, the most effective, competent language teacher I have had. I have been learning Arabic with her for about 7 months now (no prior experience). She is extremely methodical, experienced, and encouraging. Every class I feel more motivated in my studies. I highly recommend her for anyone wanting to learn Arabic in a fun and systematic way! read more

My wife and I heard incredible things about the Arabic Learning Center and miss Lubna through mutual friends. We enrolled our two children in class about 3 months ago and we could not be happier with the results. My children 9 and 8 have not only learned how to write the entire Arabic alphabet in 3 months, they are putting together complete sentences. Lubna is an incredibly gifted teacher. She draws the children in and teaches in a way to make them enthusiastic about learning. My kids love the class and have gotten to a point where they literally run to her white board from the minute they walk in the room. Her teaching style is both dynamic and effective - she engaged the children and challenges them by having them at the white board for the entire class. She taught them the Arabic alphabet in a very simple and seamless way, allowing them to build their knowledge and self confidence at their own pace - I am admittedly a native Arabic speaker but could never read or write. Miss Lubna has graciously allowed me to sit and "observe and learn" with my kids and funny enough - my kids are much stronger at reading and writing then I am - my wife and I could not be more please with the results we are getting and I honestly wish my kids were this enthusiastic about learning at their own schools. Lubna is enthusiastic, fun, creative and deeply passionate about teaching - you can tell this is something she truly enjoys - I would recommend her without any reservations - we have had an incredible experience and my kids have been transformed right before my own eyes. Thank you for your incredible help. read more

We were a little skeptical about starting our 2 year old in Arabic classes, but Lubna has been great with him. He loves coming and playing all the while being immersed in only Arabic. In months that we've been coming, Lubna is very flexible which is a huge plus for anyone with young kids. She's come up with creative ways to teach our toddler while keeping him engaged. read more

I started learning Arabic just two month ago. I already can read words and simple sentences. There are many advantages to learn a language one-to -one. Lubna makes every session very productive, and I can always slow down her when I need to clarify something or go faster through easier for me moments. She professionally feels how well I comprehend or not and how I feel about certain material. Lubna is always open and willing to explain deeper than in a text book. She can adjusts and focuses our classes according to my interest. She is encouraging, patient, and fun. I always look forward to our sessions. I would definitely recommend Lubna. She is a 5-star in Arabic :-) read more

I have been taking Arabic lessons with Lubna Baransy of the Arabic Learning Center in Cupertino for about a year and a half. Initially, I had wanted to take a group class, and took a few private lessons to catch up. However, the group class schedule didn't work out for me. Since it was readily apparent that Lubna was a great teacher, I decided to continue with private lessons. In fact, I've even suggested to Lubna that she write her own Arabic book! One of the things I like about the lessons is that from the very start, Lubna had me speaking even though my vocabulary was limited. In summary, if you are interested in learning Arabic, I highly recommend Lubna Baransy. read more

Lubna is an incredible Arabic teacher. She has taught my son for the past 10 months and he has made tremendous progress... clearly and solidly advancing with every lesson. Her method and textbooks are well developed and age-appropriate. She is serious about her work and expectations from the students, all while making it fun and interesting. My son looks forward to Arabic lesson every week, which is a far cry from our previous experience with a different provider. read more

I' am so happy to have found the Arabic Learning Center. After, getting engaged to an Arabic speaker and wanting to better understand the Quran. I stumbled upon this place doing a Google search. I didn't want to take a class due to time restrictions and needing something that would allow me to study at my own pace. Ludna, the instructor was very pleasant, she seemed to have a lot of energy and knowledge on the subject. Throughout the course Lubna, was every helpful. She has a grasp of the language and an understanding of the culture, as well as, a great attitude and approachable manner. The course work was hard at times. Lubna, always was able to put it in terms and in a way that made it easier to understand. Lubna, was always flexible with my schedule and had a patients I don't think I would have trying to teach someone a new language. I would recommend the Arabic Learning Center to anyone that was trying to learn Arabic or Hebrew. I had a wonderful time learning the Arabic alphabet and got out of the course way more then I expected. read more

Lubna is an excellent teacher: energetic, friendly, communicative, and responsive to the student's particular needs. I started taking Palestinian Arabic lessons with her about 4 months ago, having already studied Modern Standard for a number of years, and I now feel that I have a good basis in the colloquial dialect. Lubna pushes you to express yourself in whatever dialect you study with her, but in a friendly and very encouraging way. She's also open to exploring whatever type of studying you're interested in; for example, I wanted to read a book by a Palestinian author, so we both read 'Men in the Sun' (Rijaal fi sh-shams) by Ghassan Kanafani, and then discussed it in Palestinian Arabic afterward. She'll also suggest tasks outside of the usual textbook exercises, such as listening to a Palestinian TV broadcast or watching a film like 'Paradise Now', and being prepared to talk about it in class. I appreciate the variety of experience, which might otherwise be missing from a 1-on-1 course, in the hands of a less engaged teacher. I definitely recommend taking a class with Lubna. read more
