The place looks like an Irish Bar as described earlier. Food 3/5: I ordered some Tagliatelle al a Bolognese as Menu du Jour. The Tagliatelle are coming with a Mixed Green Salad. The Salad was good with some French Dressing. The dressing wasn't homemade but it was tasty. The Tagliatelle were OK. It was eatable but I thought the sauce was a little bit tasteless. Service 4/5: Service was good. The waitress came at our table right away to take our orders and she was checking with us to see if the food was alright. My sister had a Horse Steak that she couldn't finish but the waitress made sure to ask her if anything was wrong with the steak since she couldn't finish it. Good restaurant for a quick lunch if you don't have time or you don't know where to go. There's still better places in Lausanne.

His recommendation was spot on, and the hotel worked out very well for us. The location of the hotel is fantastic. It is just a few blocks from the metro, which we used many times per day. It is also situation in an area with several shops, restaurants and grocery store. The market is nearby that is on Saturday mornings. 5 stars: location. You can't beat the central spot near so many things you want and need. 5 stars: service. As a family run hotel, the service is strong. They are warm and helpful and speak english quite well. 4 stars: breakfast. They offer a breakfast with the room and it is so nice to have more options than just pastries and espresso at most cafes and restaurants. We actually had brewed coffee, and lots of eat, each morning. A hard find in Europe! 3 stars: room. It was clean, but it was small. For a moderate priced hotel it was what we expected, but tiny bathrooms and rooms are hard with two people. Especially with limited mirrors and no bathroom plugs for american hair tools;-). All in all, I would stay here again and recommend to others.

There are Michelin star restaurants in the hotel: PIC au Beau-Rivage Palace. Three other restaurants offer Japanese and Swiss cuisine. The ultra luxurious Guerlain Spa has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, 9 treatment rooms, 1 tennis court, 1 paddle court, and a golf practice area. An amazing place to stay, plus Lausanne is so much fun and gorgeous in spring and summer.

First the dumplings were freezer burned and all dried out,they developed a tough skin on top and were pretty disgusting. Then the chef? For what ever reason decided to put watery lobster/ shrimp broth over them to bake and puff. Too bad because the broth in itself had excellent flavor, but you have to thicken and cream this sauce so it adheres to the mousse.This chef's version is a $38 chf Disaster.I'm very disappointed and recommend sending the Chef back to cooking school.

The front desk staff was exceptionally helpful securing us a last minute reservation for dinner w/ our kids at Le Chat Noir, which was a fantastic meal. The front desk had to call many places to find a place with availability and they were happy to do so. And the location was close to everything - Restaurants of all kinds, coffee shops, the cathedral, the main sights downtown. The train station was a bit further but still just a long walk. The hotel also includes a free transit pass. I would highly recommend Hôtel de la Paix if you're staying Lausanne, a beautiful city.

They also have a really nice outside Terrace that has a sensational view of Lake Leman looking across toward Evian, France. The hotel is in close, (5 min walk) proximity to the Lausanne Train Station which makes it really convenient if you don't have a car or choose not to drive. Hôtel Mirabeau Lausanne was the final and most swanky of the 3 hotels we tried during our whirlwind…read moretour of Switzerland in November 2017. We were in town specifically to experience the start of the Lake Geneva-area Christmas Market season and Mirabeau was a great home base for our excursions. The train station is just a couple city blocks down the street (not too steep coming back), there's a bus stop right next door, and you're a 20-minute walk away down to the shore of Lake Geneva or up to Old Town. The wonderful daytime concierge, Peter, started us off with the perfect welcome. We arrived exhausted around 17:30 after a long day of tourism in Solothurn and a rush hour train ride back down to Vaud. Unfortunately, something had gone awry on my reservation (something I suspect was entirely my own fault) and I had reserved a room with 3 beds, but only 1 guest. We were a family of 3 and the room they originally had for us would have been tight, so we were immediately upgraded to a spacious 4th-floor "family room" suite with a balcony over Avenue de la Gare and a partial lake view from the kids' room overlooking Avenue de Rosemont. We paid an additional $50 per night fee for the extra adult, which I consider entirely reasonable especially with the included the $25 daily breakfast buffet for all of us (a bargain compared to what we'd been spending on most Swiss restaurant meals). As it also happened to be the American Thanksgiving holiday, Peter also offered to make dinner reservations for us at his favorite traditional Vaudian-cuisine restaurant (Café du Grütli http://www.cafedugruetli.ch/) that would put us in the middle of the Bô Noël (Lausanne's Christmas market & light display in Old Town https://www.bo-noel.ch/en/). We had a tasty seasonal meal, drank delicious local wine, and made new friends with the friendly proprietors. I later realized that the restaurant was listed as one of the recommended favorites on Trip Advisor and in Rick Steves' book, so we were in good company. Love! Our beds were very comfortable and the soaking tub in the enormous bathroom was great for relieving the stress of the day. TV options included some BBC channels in English, so that was a relief after a week of French- and German-language everything straining our language-ignorant brains. We didn't use the contents of the refrigerated mini-bar, but I appreciated having a fridge to hold my dinner leftovers! We didn't use many amenities around the hotel, but we thoroughly enjoyed the self-served breakfast spread in the 1st-floor restaurant. Everyone (even the picky 5th grader) found something they liked. I personally gorged on lox, sausages, mushroom melange, ratatouille, assorted cheeses & bread, freshly soft-boiled eggs, fruit, and juice, plus plenty of expertly brewed coffee - all great fuel for a day of touring and travel. Reviewer W.R. was right, though. The opening/closing sounds of the doors for these rooms are very loud, and I could see being annoyed if the floor were fully rented with lots of coming & going at odd hours. I always bring heavy-duty earplugs when I travel, so noise wasn't an issue for me this time. I'd definitely return to this hotel for my next visit to Laussane, and if the season were summer, I'd ask for a room on the lakeside. Sunsets over the lake can be spectacular!

We travel here quite a bit to visit my husband's family (usually 4-6 weeks at a time) -- we find special hotels like this are not easy to come by and this one is a stand-out! We've stayed in Ouchy at some of the "higher end" hotels and although also extremely nice, we enjoyed being a little further outside the more touristy area to absorb real life in Lausanne. If you have time, try out Le Flon, easily reached by the nearby train station if you're w/out a car. Great atmosphere for dining, shopping and people watching (modern/urban outdoor setting). Also, do not be swayed by the hotel's Best Western affiliation. This is by no means like any BW in the United States.
