His seemed the most flexible and had decent rates. Only a couple of us had done ocean fishing before so we didn't know what we wanted to fish for and definitely weren't too experienced. The number listed was his cell. He answered on the first try and walked me through how many people we could fit on the boat, what we would fish for, what to expect, etc. We planned on a half day charter mainly for Atlantic Spanish Mackerel 3 days later (I called on a Sunday and he had a half day Mon or Wed available). We had the max of 6 passengers so he said fishing for mackerel would give us a lot of action and would catch a lot of fish. He touched base the night before to tell us where to meet (depended on the tide, etc.) and to make sure we were all set. He provided all the bait and everything and we didn't need licenses. There was no deposit or anything. Just cash when we got going. He also cut us a little bit of a break for the cost for each additional person. We had to drive 45 min to Wrightsville beach because it was also the 4th of July and he said boat traffic wouldn't be as bad there. Sure enough Mike got us going right off the beach and we started catching mackerel pretty quick. He said it was an off-day maybe because of a cold front coming in so we caught much less fish than expected, but it was still a good time. He was nice and clearly very knowledgable and experienced plus his boat was very clean and updated. Take Dramamine the night before though for sea sickness. You also get to keep anything you catch. When we were wrapping up Mike filleted our fish for us to take home at no extra charge and even gave us a recipe and instructions on how to prepare mackerel. We ended up having more than enough fish for 11 people and it was delicious! Not overly fishy at all. A half day was about 7am-11am. We feel guilty because we forgot to tip him but we would definitely recommend this charter to anyone! He mentioned for a full day he can take you to fish for mahi and king mackerel way off shore which would be fun too, just more expensive.

I choose this school because of the ATA affiliation and because of great word of mouth about the instructors who teach there. I noticed this is not the same programs as ATA did way back then, but now they are geared for assisting with mental and physical wellbeing. I enjoy the warrior side of training combat sparring and learning krav maga! It is like a breath of fresh air to see a Sport/Martial Art that puts a special focus on life skills, such as; self-esteem, respect, honesty, communication, discipline. This helps teachers, as well as parents, help raise children to be healthy functioning adults... It is also a great self awareness and esteem for those adults, who need the reassurance through their effort on what they can accomplish!! They have an awesome program for children, Tiny Tigers program, my son, who has ADHD, was in this program it did him wonders for listening and ability to focus... It helped with his self confidence as he was different in school and was in different classes than mainstream and kids picked on him a lot.. he had a place to go where he felt he was good enough. I suppose I should post so you all can come and see for yourself and not spoil the fun... Ok, 1 more thing, the taekwondo kids here are awesome kids, because all the kids in their classes, like my son was, are treated just like everyone else.. the kids are having fun, exercising and learning to be great people.

We are no longer in Wilmington as we are back home in VA. I just got off the phone with Skyzone off 6431 Market Street in Wilmington, NC 28405 and spoke to Reese. He forwarded the information (email) for me to reach out to Skyzone corporate customer service and request a refund. I did just that and explained the situation. They informed me that even though there were 0 sessions used after my stay there that they would not give me a refund and instead offer me credits, which is unacceptable. I had to reach out to my bank to file a dispute and route the necessary support documentation. I'm leaving a review because of the horrible customer service that was presented.

Evolve Freediving gets Five Bubbles …read more As a PADI certified Mermaid, I'm comfortable underwater, but that doesn't mean I'm not intimidated by Freediving. Lots to be intimidated by: Ashley's WRs, NRs, Evolve's reviews, the depths, the breathholds. Prior to this, the deepest I had been was 4m ... not very mermaid. I'm afraid, but use the fear to my advantage. I'm more afraid of drowning -- I sign up for the class. Ashley wants us perfectionists to get a good start so she assigns two online courses ahead of time. * A safety course * An equalization course I used the 4m pool I had access to to practice the Frenzel. I didn't know how bad I was at equalizing. Our Aug-8-10-2025 course was 16 people, three instructors (Ashley, Ren, Talita) going over the PFI slides, four instructors (Ren joined us Day-3) for the dives. I had a lot of anxiety about how the day-3 dive groups would be assigned. I learned afterwards the instructors picked their students based on temperament. Beautiful moments: Day-2, floating in the water before doing our breath-holds. I've been doing these wrong. It really helps when others around you are CHANTING how do do a proper breath-up. First freediving trance which extended my personal best from 2:30 to 3:40. Day-3, waiting my turn to dive. We were told "when waiting, breath this exact way" Alright. Second freediving trance, much longer. Quickly realized a lot of freedivers experience their dives this way. Keep my breathing s l o w, maintaining my trance, ‍. Nice. We're told underwater it's easiest to "just do whatever your instructor does" ... copying someone takes a lot less oxygen and no thought. Talita's form (my day-3 dive instructor) is perfect. I speed up and slow down to match her pace. I forget where to put my arms and when to breath out, but as the dives progress my form gets closer to hers. I go from trance to flow ... my form is much closer ... I float effortlessly to the surface. The rapture is intoxicating and addictive. One moment of raw horror: Ashley warned us, at depth, our diaphragms would be pushed into a position our brains would perceive as "Out of Air." I did my exhale stretches as recommended, so when this happened underwater instead of raw panic I just had horror. Ashley said she'd push us all as far as we could be safely pushed, and it felt directly adjacent to Death. (which somehow makes it better???) Obviously I'm going to practice a lot with depth. Talita gives me this look like "what did you expect?" and I was like "Oh yeah, nevermind, fear costs too much oxygen anyway." A lot of our class didn't get their cert -- I'm told it happens. Evolve is chill about it, people who missed their skills check can get a redo during a different class for about $45 ($25 for a line, $20 to access the quarry) Some people-in-the-real-world stuff: * Our class had a shortened schedule, it would have been nice to have more class time. * One of the instructors, Ren, only joined us on Day-3. He had an all dude-bro group, idk if they cared. * There is kind of a muted/restrained/conservative vibe (meeting at a church, spear fishing is hunting), but everyone did their best to keep their beliefs in check. I'm so gay I brought my girlfriend. I'm also Buddhist -- the killing stuff parts are difficult for me. Other real world stuff I spoke with Ashley privately about. She's exceptionally concerned about the vibe, and responsive to feedback. I've been building out my buoy to do my line dives and the instructors have been very helpful after the course with selecting gear and helping to keep my dyad safe. I'm looking forward to taking more courses with Evolve.
