I did the London Eye and Sealife on the same day, as they are geographically close to each other. - If you like penguins, sharks, stingrays, and jellyfish, this aquarium is for you. I got a city pass and had a handful of tourist attractions to visit while in London. I did the London Eye and Sealife together in this order. I highly recommend coupling them for a day. The former give you a nice view of the city. The latter is a cool aquarium that I enjoyed visiting. I love penguins. I enjoyed seeing the gentoo penguins swim and waddle around. I probably spent a good chunk of my time here. I also liked the shark exhibit. Seeing sharks swim around a shipwreck was neat. The jellyfish exhibit was also amazing. It's the UK's largest jellyfish experience. I enjoyed watching them float around. Oh, the seahorses were fun. I saw the suck up shrimps with their snouts, which was different. I normally see them swimming around. I spent a lot of time at the gift shop. I ended up getting a keychain and a small penguin plushie. This aquarium is probably one of the best ones that I've been to. Staff were friendly and helpful. I loved everything that I saw. (21)

As soon as we got in it had to be evacuated for a fire alarm, but we were back in quickly enough with no one in front of us. A good way to pass some time while waiting on the marathon to finish.

Did you watch Warner Bros. cartoons when you were a child? Remember Sylvester and Tweety? I hated…read moreTweety bird and I always wished that he would die a horrible death at the hands of my favourite 'villain' Sylvester the Cat. Tweety is probably the most annoying character ever, with his stupid whiny voice and he orbicular parakeet head. If he were human and I knew him personally I would actively search out reasons to punch him in the face as much as possible. OK, so maybe my hatred for that vile little bird is teetering on the line of insanity, but when I found an exhibition with paintings devoted to all of the possible scenes of savage slayings of Tweety I felt vindicated. The Aquarium L-13 was the venue for this awesome exhibition. They sell fantastic and controversial works of art from a range of contemporary artists. Unfortunately this haven for controversy is going out of business due to the recession. It seems that all of the investors have gone bankrupt and the gallery can no longer remain open. It's tragic. It will stay open for the next couple of months though, so be sure to run down to have a look at all of the expensive art work that you will never be able to afford (stuff selling for hundreds and thousands of pounds) before it shuts down forever.

I was attracted to this shop instantly by the quirky and controversial posters and pamphlets in the…read moreshop window. There was a piece that used the WW1 poster depicting the slogan 'Your country needs YOU', but altered to say 'Shop damn you, SHOP'. There were also lots of other spoof political pamphlets and a manequin with a bill board on his back with the words 'I Am The Son Of Art'. Intrigued, I crossed the road to look closer and explore what was inside. I found it was a gallery and shop that exhibited and sold the work of a small group of artists, all apparently chosen to work with The Aquarium L-13 for their particular political and creative persuasion (which generally appeared to be subversive to the way we commonly view and consume art). The gallery/ shop was spread across 2 floors (and downstairs was a sale). It felt raw and real.. more like walking into someones house or personal work space, as there are desks and plan chests as well as a sofa behind a screen, all of which have art work and published pieces on top of and in. It was almost more like a jumble sale downstairs, work heaped in piles to flick through. You could also see the workshop in the basement where the artists create a lot of the work for the gallery (although this is not open for the public to walk into). The work shown includes paintings, prints, published works, 3d pieces, jewellary and more. The Aquarium really stands out from the majority of art gallery shops around, and sells work at affordable prices (ranging from items that are less than £5 to several hundred. It is defintly worth visiting to see some contemporary, innovative and politically charged work.

Visited this aquarium on a Tuesday back in May 2019 with my boyfriend and I've got to say the…read morelocation is beautiful! Its located on the sea side of Hastings. The admission price is such a good deal! Standard price at the door is £10.75 (around $13) and if you buy your tickets online it's only £8.60 ( around $11) For kids (Aged 3-12) (Must be accompanied by an adult) £8.25 (around $10) at the door and £6.60 (around $8) online. The aquarium itself is not very large but when we went it was not crowded at all. This place is definitely a hidden gem! There are so many sea life exhibits to see such as seahorses, sharks, jellyfish, and even reptiles like frogs, chameleons, a python and even a bearded dragon! There is a cool underwater tunnel where you can see reef sharks, stingrays, and colorful fish swimming over and all around. The staff there were also so helpful and friendly! The aquarium is open everyday except Christmas Day from 10 am to 5 pm. There is also parking located right in front of the aquarium where you can pay for parking. I definitely recommend coming to this aquarium. It was so much fun walking around exploring and enjoy my day! 5/5 stars very impressed!

They also have some of the local marine life too, being that Southend is a coastal town, which really does touch home for me. Although not containing much of the magic as when I went here when I was young, I do still admire the place, as they always make sure it's clean and tidy, and that the animals are well kept, looked after, and maintained. The staff have some knowledge about the marine life kept, but there are place cards by the aquariums to tell you more. The aquarium also contains a fairly decent sized restaurant/eating area, but charging for a play area for the younger kids so you can look round the aquarium, or eat in peace is a bit of a low-blow, considering you've already paid to get in and possibly for on-site parking too. Saying that, it's definatly a great family time out, and the kids will love getting up-close to the animals, (sometimes being able to touch them too, but best ask for permission first).

There was a talk on the Star Fish which left a lot to be desired, it was over exagerated and a lot of contradictions were made by the man. On the up hand for kids it has a play den but compared to other aquariums this was over full and not in good condition.

There is adequate parking for most times but on busy Sundays, it can get busy. There's a large room with fish to admire. Don't forget to look at the big tanks down low with bigger fish. The information on the tanks isn't the greatest as to what type of fish go with others etc and the grouping of the types of fish isn't the clearest. However, the staff are all very helpful, so don't be shy - just ask for help. Next door is a medium sized shop with assorted fishy food and gadgets. There is a fair selection but not the biggest. There's a beautiful tropical coral tank wih clown fish (Nemo!) to admire in there too. The shop also supports outdoor ponds with large tubs outside. To exit, you have to go through the garden centre.

Fish keeping the easiest or cheapest of hobbies, but all the same as soon as you walk into Maidenhead Aquatics in Morden Hall Garden Centre it is impossible to not be totally amazed. This aquatics shop is more like an aquarium, with rows of hundreds of tanks full of tropical and cold water, fresh and salt water fish. You do have to be careful when buying fish that they are not diseased or you could wake up the next morning to find every one of your fish new and old, floating at the top of the tank, but I found Maidenhead Aquatics the most reliable and high quality fish shop in London. As well as selling fish, they also have a shop next door selling everything you could ever need for your aquarium. Most importantly, the staff here know a thing or two about fish keeping, so even if you are amateur, they will quickly show you the ropes.
