The Blue Reef Aquarium is a lovely little place to take younger kids, right on Southsea seafront. Sadly it isn't the hugest of places, and older kids would get bored easily, i think. That said, i've taken my brother along numerous times now, and he never bores of it (He is 8). I would recommend it to parents as a Bank Holiday day filler, or for trips on school holidays.
Though i have mentioned that the Blue Reef is small, that does not mean that there isn't loads packed into the space they do have! They have an enormous range of fish to look at, Tropical, Fresh Water, Sharks, some frogs and snakes, a few otters and even a turtle!
The Blue Reef is goos for a morning/afternoon out. If you go as a family though and intend to visit more than once, i would definately suggest buying a years pass! The cost of a family getting in for a day is almost as much as a year, so you can save yourself some pennies there.
When you enter The Blue Reef, you are stamped on the hand. This means you can come in and out as you please all day, which is an added bonus.
There is a lovely little gift shop at the end of the walk round, but beware, kids will get excited and it isn't the cheapest place to buy things.
I know there is a cafe attached too, so food is easily available.
All in all a good day out, but remember older kiddies might not be entertained for long. read more
