This company is completely unprofessional in so many ways. Technician came and did work at my mothers home to replace filters just the filters. Told her the job was done my mother signed the paper without reading. My mother does not read in English lets put that out there, Felipe who is the technician who came to change the filters as a professional stated his job was done. My mother is not a professional so to her it looked good but here we are a couple months later and my mothers kitchen floor is all ruined because Felipe did something wrong and didn't make sure his work wasn't leaking. My mother called the company and explained the situation to some lady that works there and stated that it's not the companies fault that my mom didn't check the work correctly? Whats that about my mom is not getting paid $803 to make sure the work is done properly. She's asked plenty of times to speak to a manager or owner and they have simply been ignoring her. A canvasser went through our neighborhood leaving official-looking door hangers (no company logo/branding) purporting to be from our local "Water Control" District indicating that we needed to call them within 3-days, with no explanation of what the circumstances were. I called the number provided, and a woman answered, introducing her self as "Water Control," suggesting she was with our district water control agency. She proceeded to tell me that other "Water District Customers" in the area had reported issues with their water quality. That they were simply following up with others in the same neighborhood to see how widespread the issue might be. They would send a "Water Control" rep over to test our water the next day, for which I needed to be present. Sounded official, so I agreed. A very nice gentleman arrived the next day and began his tests, however, it became immediately clear that he was at my home under false pretenses. This was not a service call by our Water District, but rather a sales call by a private company, I work from home, and my time is valuable. For a company to use such tactics to gain an appointment is lower than low. It frightens me to think what might happen if an elderly person or an individual with a compromised health condition was duped in the same way?! I have no idea how their products work, but I know that any reputable company would NEVER resort to such an underhanded approach to sell their wares/services. Bottom line is yes they are legit I have the system in my home, and yes you nave the change the filters every year... their customer service could be a lot better as it is horrible to call and get transferred to 6 different people ... The quality and value of the systems are perfect for our family needs. Since showering and drinking the Alkaline water our eczema flares have gone done. Every time I set an appointment they for a certain time they call me the day before and change the time frame. That's just one of my issues the other is that when they come out and change my filters they leave the old filter in sink / counter and tell me to throw the old filters away. They also always want to charge me for all filters every single time whe some are yearly and the other one is every 3 yrs. read more

I probably would have purchased the product today if the sales person, Adrian, would've had better people skills. He was rude and assumed that we were not interested when we actually were. It sounds like a great product. I am not sure how many homes this guy has walked in to or if he was just having a bad day but my 2 and 5 year old require our attention. Adrian required both mine and my husbands undivided attention and then asked my husband if he was done with our kids so he could finish his presentation because he was on a schedule. He added that we are probably better off without it because it would be more of a luxury for us. He's right, I don't know too many people who this would not be a luxury for... We've always wanted to have better water for our home, drinking water and all other water use, for ourselves and our kids. My 3 kids suffered from really dry skin and would complain of their eyes burning during a shower.. I also had dry hair and dry skin. Our water didn't taste that great.. and then.... MARVAN came! He was very helpful in answering questions we had, and thorough in explaining how the system works. He was even patient when our kids came in and interrupted. This company is the absolute worst company out there. They tell you whatever they need to get you to buy their product. I was told that for the life of the system there would be no maintenance fees as long as the softwater/purification system stayed within my household and I was the owner of the house. Now I'm told that there are service fees, that I have to change filters on the system, and that there was no way I was told that information. The only reason we chose this company was for the no fees for life of product pitch. Let's move on to customer service...don't even bother talking with the people that answer the calls. They are the worst customer service providers out there. Extremely rude! I called last week and spoke to a girl for about a 10 min conversation (I was getting a little upset that I now would have a $280 maintenance fee and a $85 dollar service fee. Kinda pricy when you were told no fees for life of the product after paying close to $4,000 for the system). She then said a manager would call me back (never did) and set up an appointment for service (no one ever showed up). Shockingly, when I called back there is no record of that phone call or appointment being made lol. I told them I could get a copy of my phone records showing the amount of time I was on the phone with there customer service. However, this company is NEVER wrong it is ALWAYS you that is wrong or misunderstood. The only person that speaks to the customer the way they are supposed to is the amazing manager Adrian. In this economy, where people are dying for jobs, there is no way they should have rude people answering the phones. It's frustrating when we have obviously been lied to by the sales people so that we are suckered into buying the product and then customer service is horrible. I'm sure they are like this because most, if not all, customers calling in are a mad about the lies they were told during sales. I rarely take the time to write a review, but I figured that this may help others interested in this product. My wife and I purchased a new home recently and received a solicitation in the mail regarding water purification. An appointment was made for a rep to come by and give us the "dog and pony" show. Despite the interest in the product, I didn't want to go with this rep because of the attitude and aggressive personality. I decided to go on yelp and found a great review on Aquakleen and Marvan. I gave Marvan a call and it was a night and day difference from the personality of the previous rep. Marvan was passionate about the product, but didn't try to force it down my throat. He was easy going and answered all of my questions. I was already interested in the sytem, but Marvan sold it! My wife feels better about the water we use to cook, and give to the kids. I like that the hard water spots are gone on the shower door and in the drip tray of the frig. It's amazing how I would never have known what I was missing, but now that I have it, could never go without this system. The salesperson was very knowledgeable and informative but we did our research as well before purchasing it. I love my Aqua system but I am not very fond with their customer service. They are very unprofessional when they call you for your yearly maintenance service. They just call and do not bother to leave a message if no one answers the phone. To me if you are a business and the maintenance is part of your sales then you should at least leave a message with proper information. To management, train your customer service properly, this is only hurting your business. Maybe I am wrong and this is normal in California but where I am from if I am running a business and trying to sale a maintenance service then I would leave proper information if no one picks up the phone. read more

I purchased the water softener system from Aqua Kleen (AK) in late 2011. I have not had an issue with the service of the system, as it performs well. I needed to replace the filters recently and had called AK for a quote. I also wanted my water tested, and that ended being a problem. When I was first sold the system, the sales rep said I would receive free water testing and servicing. Notes that included this feature were written down by the sales rep, however, were recently shredded due to the fact that the warranty (valid for 1 year) had expired. Little did I know, previous testing by the sales rep over the course of 2 years (1x each year after install), was never received by the corporate office. After speaking with Adrian at the corporate office, he made things right! Not only made right, but in a timely manner as well! Water was tested, system was serviced and filters installed for no cost. Although free filters was never mentioned, I could truly tell he cared about his customers feeling satisfied with their purchase and AK's equipment.
