I need to update my review. My daughter has been coming here since June of 2020, and it used to be an amazing place to come! However, since then, there has been a very high rate of turnover in the staff, which makes it really difficult because I feel like my child can't form a good relationship with her coach. The girl who works the front desk always seems super grumpy and like she doesn't want to be there at all. My daughter's Aqua card wasn't in the bin, and zero effort was made to find it. I'm really disappointed and may need to pull her out and look at continuing her lessons elsewhere. read more

Was super glad to find Aqua-tots! This past spring I was searching for swim lessons and all of them had waitlists and were only 6-8 week long sessions. Aqua-tots was available immediately for our 3 kids (4.5, 3, 3) in the same class on Wednesday evenings. We live in North Salt Lake but it's worth the trek for sure. It's expensive with all 3 of them (we do one class a week) but they're learning so much and swimming this summer during vacations was way more enjoyable for us as parents because they're so much more comfortable in the water. The girls love coach Marissa and she does a great job being patient and helping them learn! I do wish they had more family size or slightly bigger changing rooms since it's a tight squeeze with all of us together but the facilities are otherwise great. read more

I'm not going to totally destroy this place with a review because there are some nice things about it. First the facility is very nice and well taken care of. There is a great seating area for parents to observe and most instructors seem happy to be there. The biggest issue with this business is the way they teach swimming. They go through a list and make sure the child masters each item before moving forward, which seems sensible. However the items the kids struggle with are not addressed or focused on anymore than the items they've mastered. They continue to spend the same amount of time going through the same list over and over. Wouldn't it make more sense to focus on the weakest parts of the swimmers issues throughout the lesson in order for them to advance? I kept my daughter in for at least 15 lessons with little to no progress because of the teaching methods. Plus the cost of this place for lessons is very expensive compared with other places. I am now paying $50 a lesson for private 1 hour lessons vs $45 for a 1/2 hour lesson at Aqua tots. The new instructor has focused on improving weakness in my child's swimming instead of strength which has enabled my child to move forward quickly and bust through the issues slowing her down. I'm blown away by the difference. Teenage management that don't know how to handle questions or concerns properly, they just make excuses. Not sure how you run a business this way, but they may want to reconsider how they're doing things. Pretty big waste of time and money. Would not recommend. Check out Cottonwood Heights rec center. We've been with Aqua-Tots for almost 2 years, and initially the experience was good. The management had an exodus last September, and this location has never recovered. Now we can't wait to finish the year's worth of lessons we prepaid for so we can be done. Here are some of our specific concerns. First, mychild passed the first level in three months and has languished on the next level for a year and a half. It seems like the schools gets you registered, shows some fast progress, and then milks you for all the money they can. We could have gone to a rec center and taken lessons for a quarter of the price and gotten the same quality. Another problem we've encountered are rude management. For example, after being told by 3 coaches that our child was ready to test for the next level, the coach quit. . . again. We approached the manager to see how we could get our child tested since we hadn't had a consistent coach for over a month. The manager's solution was to have her brand new coach who had never worked with our child test him. Because the coach didn't know our child or his abilities, she assisted with everything. The manager was condescending and rude when speaking to us afterward accusing us of wanting our child advanced when he wasn't ready, which wasn't the case at all. We were asking about testing because three separate coaches said he was ready. The manager also seemed clueless that having her brand new coach do the test wasn't an appropriate solution. We've also been through roving coaches. Part of what you're paying for at almost $30 per lesson is consistency. Poor management drove coaches out at an astonishing rate so having a consistent coach wasn't even possible. During this management fiasco, we called to cancel a lesson. Because we couldn't get through, we drove to the school to cancel the lesson. When we showed up, we found the only staff member was a single coach teaching a lesson in the pool. This is a liability - dangerous for the coach and the children. While management has changed and the new manager is more pleasant and the employees seem happier, she doesn't solve problems. Aquatots uses and app to give parents progress. It's April, and we haven't had an update since January. We notified the new manager a month ago that the app they transitioned to isn't updating, and we still have no access to our child's progress. Do yourself a favor - sign up at the local rec center for $6 per lesson and avoid the money drain. read more

We love Aquatots! Coach Michaun does such an amazing job with my little guy, she has been his coach pretty much since level 1. We just moved up to level 3. I love that he is learning an important life skill as well as learning social skills, such as taking turns and learning to wait. My son gets excited every time we drive up, couldn't recommend Aquatots enough! read more

This place has a lot of seating for parents to watch their kids and it's always clean. My kid has seen a few diff teachers and hands down my favorite teacher here is noea she is patient with all the kids and takes her time with each individual and I feel like the kids learn more with her. That lady needs a raise she is wonderful. read more

Terrible experience! My kid is more cautious with new things than other kids but does better with groups of kids his own age. I really wanted this to be a positive experience so he can eventually love swimming however the instructor saw this "behavior" and isolated us from the group. Me and my kid no were clearly struggling and she didn't provide direction, positive or corrective feed back. It was humiliating. So many parents looking at me and my kid as if there was something off about us. I would not recommend this location or at least private lessons if your child is a cautious with new things. My son is 2 1/2 yrs old. Based on his age alone they decided to start him in the level 3 class even though hes never done any swim lessons. On his first class they started trying to dunk his head under water, and hes been scared since. We've since started him in classes elsewhere where we can work on things at his pace and it is going better. The other thing is that their billing practices are intentionally predatory. When signing him up for classes they say that registration is good for a year, and any unused classes can be made up. But they will continue to bill you unless you give them a WRITTEN cancelation form, cant be done online or over the phone. Cancelation means losing registration as well, so you cant do make up classes. And cancelations must be done 30 days in advance, so they're going to bill you for another month. Any business that relies on auto renewal and difficult cancelations is a red flag for me. ***Update: After leaving a review the manager did reach out to me. She was able to finish the cancelation over the phone and offer a refund. I did update my review to 3 stars for that. I do appreciate the manager reaching out and trying to make it right. read more

The instructors here are so friendly and attentive. My daughter struggled transitioning to the higher course where we no longer got in the pool with her. They were so patient with her when her scream echoed in the pool room. They came out every five minutes to give us updates on her progress. To cheer her up and motivate her into the pool they started singing her favorite Disney songs. They sang the whole time and she ended up having a blast. She couldn't stop talking about it. It would've been easier to give our screaming two year old back to us but they wanted her to see she would enjoy it as much as the other class. They all gave her high fives and praise at the end. Love this place, So glad we chose to sign both our girls up here. They are very nice, the facility is super clean and accommodating. They have lil cubbies for items, seating, changing rooms and 3 bathrooms available. The kids love their time there. I recommend them to anyone! read more

Aqua-Tots has been so much fun for my 2 and 4 year old. They were both afraid of the water when we started and after just a short time with lessons they have become so comfortable in the water. Please do not come here!! we have gone here the almost 8 months and at first had no problems.then the instructor left. We have had nothing but issues since. My kid is 3.5 and has autism we were very open about this and her needs. One being she cannot go under water. Well several instructors have ignored the notes and me verbally telling them and submerged her anyways. Causing her to cry, scream and climb out of the pool terrified. the last session it happened 3 times in ones session plus the instructor held her arms to her side as she's "too clingy" she is now beyond scared of water when she use to love it. I had to cancel and they informed me they might have to charge me one more month due to their 30 day notice... it wasn't our fault. When I called Ann marie (Manager) didn't even apologize just asked why we did not tell the instructor the issue.. she blamed us. i asked if the instructor will get talked too and she simply said we will have a reminder for her... they wanted me to try a new and better instructor but my kid won't even put a swim suit on now. i tried to originally sign her up for their special needs class and was told she doesn't qualify for it, I asked if the regular class can handle her needs they lied and as shown cannot. find a different school. the manager did not care and it seems that the few instructors we've dealt with don't care either. read more

My son started swimming lessons last May, he was doing so well and had fun having Emma as his instructor. But today he had Marissa as a substitute instructor. After his swimming lesson, he came out crying. I saw tears on my sons face. I asked him what happened? He said that the instructor Marissa was rude to him. I also witnessed before the class started, that Marissa and another employee from the front desk had an argument and it seemed like she let her steam out on my son during the swimming lesson. That is very unacceptable and unprofessional. When I saw my son crying I immediately went to the manager Ann Marie and complaint about it. I told her that I am just letting her know that the Instructor Today was rude. When I went home I realized how traumatic the experience was for my son. The reason we sent him to a swimming school is for him to have fun and learn. I told my husband what happened and he called the manager again but she didn't show much compassion and didn't seem to care. My husband told her that my son does not want to return to Aqua-tots after being yelled at and we didn't pay almost $200 a month+ the enrollment fee for their employees to yell and mistreat my son. I hope you understand how I feel about this as a parent. I just wanted to bring this to your attention after your employees in Midvale Utah did not seem to care. The comments in this section are very true. Most of the employees here are just a bunch of teenagers who are very unprofessional. The lessons keep on repeating and it shows no progress. For two Months it's just the same routine every lesson. They don't focus on our child's strength and weaknesses. SUCH A WASTE OF MONEY. WE WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE. read more
