I haven't lived in NB through a growing season yet so I'm not sure whether their stock will localize as the seasons change, but I hope it will. In any case, the quality of the produce is generally excellent and the prices are fantastic. The focus is heavily Hispanic, so if you're looking for specialty ingredients (fresh and dried chiles and herbs, etc) this is a great place to go. You can usually find ripe avocados! There's a smallish grocery selection too (tinned goods, tortillas, hot sauces), a fish counter in the back (looks good and doesn't smell bad, both good signs, but I haven't tried it yet), small selection of meats and Mexican cheeses. The banchan at Kasia are made by two Korean ladies and they said MSG were not used. I tried sauteed bell flower and seasoned sesame leaves and they tasted excellent. Also, the rice cake tasted great. Their fresh chodang soft tofu tasted so good when I made soondubu stew at home. The local fuji apples were juicy and sweet and Chinese vegetables on sale were very fresh. The belt fish were cleaned thoroughly. But beef chuck eye steak was too tough and wasn't trimmed thoroughly. They also have sushi/sashimi and fried chicken to be ordered and can be eaten at the dining area when you walk in.

This is truly authentic Mexican food. I asked if they make homemade tamales and found out that on Wednesdays and Sundays the owners wife makes fresh tamales. (I will definitely be back to try those.) I got takeout and ordered two orders of 3 beef tacos, yellow rice and pinto beans. My tacos had several layers, and the beef was very tender. On top came fresh chopped onions, and chopped cilantro, a jalapeño and grilled onions. The beef tacos were very good especially the grilled onions. The jalapeño was surprisingly very hot, but it gave a nice kick to the tacos. The yellow rice was fluffy, and the pinto beans had great flavor and were creamy. They gave me two types of sauces, salsa verde and a hot sauce. I really enjoyed my food. This is a mom and pop business, that I will definitely be returning to. We were driving through and stopped by because I love Columbian empanadas and figured they'd have them at a bakery. Ended up leaving with pandebono (a type of cheese-filled bread), lenguas (Guatemalan name, long type of crunchy bread), champurradas (disk-shaped), beef empanadas, conchas (soft bread with icing), and arroz con leche. Music from live bands or DJs set the tone as you shop at the dozen or so tents. Buy Jersey fresh, produce including my favorites, sweet white corn and hydroponically grown lettuce. Get super high quality locally produced and exotic meat. If your not about making your own food from scratch, visit the Polish or Italian specialty tents where you can buy fully prepared meals that just need to be cooked. For instant gratification, get food from the trucks including empanadas. There is the most delicious pickles and olives, fresh baked goods, artisan chocolates and more.
