Ambiance is amazing for sure! It's in the Ritz so yeah very ritzy. I've dined here twice. The first experience was a dinner with my younger cousin. It was a girls' night and we had fun. They food was fair. We had the tomahawk steak, seared table side, and sat on a block of ?Himalayan salt. The cocktails were great and service was on point the first time. Paid valet parking, clean restrooms. Here's where I docked a star (let's be honest, this isn't a 5-star dining experience) I came back the second time because the first experience was great. We didn't have a kitchen around Thanksgiving due to renovations so decided to have our family thanksgiving dinner here. It was myself, husband, MIL, and 2 kids (3 and 4 year old). They had the thanksgiving brunch fixed menu and per the OpenTable website, it was $95 for adults, and $40-50 per child. When I tried to make a reservation online, it wouldn't allow me to make the reservation with the kids as it was charging a full price of $95 per child (so $500-$600 for 3 adults and 2 kids). I called aquimero and spoke with their representative who told me that I can go ahead and pay the full price online and they will make modifications to my final bill on the day of. So I did! The moment we sat down, I reminded our server about this bill and she seemed nonchalant about it, reassured me it can be fixed. So throughout dinner, a random person and a lady who introduced herself as the manager came by to let me know that it will be taken care of but just not that day because the bosses aren't working due to it being a holiday weekend. Ok, no biggie. I was told I would get a call the following Monday. No one called. I called for a follow up on a Tues, I was told someone would get back to me. No one did. Yes, it's $100, but it's $100 and however much your principle is worth. How can you charge little children adult price? Oh and I was asked over and over on the phone that "maybe" my kids are 10yrs and older. I get it, mistakes happen, but as I told the many people I spoke with on the phone, you have made zero attempt to rectify this. And what is going on with the Ritz trying to hold on to a measly hundred bucks? Are you struggling? Anyways, food was mid. The seafood tower was ok, but the crab legs and giant shrimp cocktail were super fishy. The steak I had was good though. Perfect temperature, at least they got this one right. Husband and I did have GI symptoms when we got home. Probably the seafood tower rather than the steak. What Aquimero lacks is consistency, integrity, and a sense of decency. Within the Ritz Carlton you will find this restaurant with full bar. It is gorgeous inside. Open and festive for the holiday with a projector of Philly city scapes and cuteness. You feel special here for sure. Aqimero has a great menu for everyone. A few vegan options definitely heavy seafood and veggie choices. They have quite a few signature drinks however, you can't taste the liquor so cut that and go liquor neat/ice/mixer. Cheaper and you taste the liquor for real. The service. Just as everyone else commented-- slow and the place had maybe 30 people tops. And I'm counting those at the bar. Our server disappeared often. And when we would catch his eye, he then remembered what we asked. Whether drink, napkin, water... just eh en. The runners were more attentive and made up for our server's indifference for our table. I had amazing time here on Women's Day weekend. I was a part of a large party and we opted for the endless bubbles and brunch. The food and the service did not disappoint. Have been here 2 different times, total of 4 meals :) nestled in Ritz-Carlton, they have happy hour with drinks in the lobby are with the sound of coins falling, symbolizing the end of the business day at 5pm! Service from both the bar and dinning area. After we had received our bar drinks, we checked in for our reservation. Keep in mind, we've stayed here at this hotel twice, overnight, which is a great way to do dates right! We've enjoyed the Tomahawk for 2 with truffle fries and roasted Brussel sprouts. Best way to enjoy anniversaries/celebrations, comes with a show :) staff is always well attentive for dinner! The drinks kept coming and so did the "NOMs", we have had great experiences for dinner. Unfortunately it's only decent for breakfast, having to compare service of both. Breakfast service is a toss up. The coffee was lacking and the attentiveness/service as well. Only saw waitress for order, service, and end of service without a prompt and only received 1 coffee refill.... I've had the Nova Lox or smoked salmon and bagel. Always a great time with that. I can't say much of everything else... their traditional pancakes weren't over the top, pretty much a staple item to get for breakfast and a side of bacon. Aqimero will cost you mucho dinero. Go in knowing this, because that tab will add up quickly. I think Jerry Seinfeld has a bit about this, where he talks about the shock of getting a bill after you've eaten. This was my experience yesterday evening, but I have no one to blame but myself. And frankly, Aqimero served up some delicious food, so I am not exactly complaining! Let me walk you through it... I arrived 30 minutes before my reservation, so I posted up at the bar and had a drink. Nice bar. Good bar. Charming bartender. Lovely glass of Albariño. Go to my table. Meet my party. Ordered a few starters for the table, including the meat & cheese board. This thing was terrific. In fact, I have half a mind to go back and just order the meat & cheese board and a glass of wine. The olives and pickled peppers on the board were outstanding. Got the ribeye. It was perfectly cooked. I loved the sea salt & chimichurri on the side, so you can add to your liking. The roasted bulb of garlic was a little overkill, IMO. I struggle to imagine people want that much garlic with their steak but maybe they do! It would surprise me, tho. The brussels were outstanding, and you get a lot of them. The sides are definitely sharable. I went in, however, with the knowledge that I would be eating half of my meal and taking the other half home so that I could have it for lunch the next day, and that is exactly what I did. Our server was really nice and patient! She brought me the wrong type of wine (Pinot Noir) and then corrected the action by bringing me a new glass of the wine I ordered (Nero d'Avola) and apologized for her mistake. No apology needed! Mistakes happen and you more than made up for it! The environment of the restaurant is really cool. One thing I really appreciated was the size of the table and how much room you had. That stood out to me. A lot of restaurants try to squeeze you in so as to maximize the number of patrons they can/will get. We started with one server then another one took over- and I'm not sure why or even how the transition occurred. Lastly, the ambiance is nice- it's the lobby of the hotel- but it's just not particularly memorable. This is my first lackluster review in a long time- which should tell you about my experience. I was excited to try Aqimero after a friend showed me a video of his dinner selection that was an enchanting presentation. Learning it was located in the Ritz Carlton was a bonus as well. I immediately expected great ambiance, food and impeccable service. The entrance from street level into Aqimero is breathtaking. The hostess was friendly and advised she would be able to seat us when the third person in our party arrived. That was perfectly fine. We headed to the lounge area and grabbed a seat. Within a few minutes, a very nice server approached us and we ordered cocktails. I had the Espresso Martini and my friend ordered a Spicy Marqarita. Both drinks were satisfying and the tab was closed. We were seated in the bar area and advised of our waiters name. Another nice server offered us water and advised of the specials. However, after an excessive amount of time had passed, I went to the hostess stand to advise our waiter never approached our table. Shortly after, a young lady came to our table and informed us the person we were told would be our waiter went home and she would assist instead. We started placing our orders and one friend asked if they had salad. She was informed the did not. (that's odd for a restaurant not to offer a salad). She then ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and a Lemon Drop Martini. I ordered the pancakes and since I had looked at their online menu, I asked if they had bacon and eggs. The waitress said they did. (why would these items not be on the printout Brunch menu)? I ordered those as well as a Peach Bellini. The waitress brought the Lemon Drop Martini and an Espresso Martini. I advised her I ordered the Peach Bellini. She took the Espresso Martini back and placed it back in the area for servers. Then there was a wait for the Peach Bellini. My pancakes, bacon and eggs were all very good. My friend and I were both completely deflated to see there were 2 small box style crabcakes and not fresh lump crabcakes as was expected in a venue located inside the Ritz Carlton in Center City Philadelphia. This was a major disappointment. And to top it off, her dish was cold as if it had been sitting awhile. That's unacceptable. We ask for the check, and the first thing listed is a $22 Espresso Martini! My friend now goes to the hostess stand where our waitress was located. She acknowledged the mistake and had it corrected prior to presenting us with a new tab. There were far too many mishaps and disappointments for me to say I would recommend you try them. Hands-down, one of my favorite restaurants in the Philadelphia area. I went to Aqimero to celebrate my birthday, and I can't wait to go back. I sat at the bar and ordered drinks and a few appetizers. For cocktails: - I started with the 1976. It was delicious, crisp, refreshing, and well-balanced. - Next I ordered the sancerre, but I should have looked at the price - at $27 a glass, it was nothing to write home about. Inflation sucks. For food: - I started with the hamachi (Peruvian) ceviche. Surprisingly delicious. The flavors were bright, well-balanced, and punched you in the face, but in the best way. - I ordered the octopus. Unfortunately, this was a huge miss. I asked the server if the octopus is good here, because it's kind of difficult to get octopus right. Everything was wrong. It came out at room temperature, including the sauce and accoutrements. This seemed wrong like it was left to die on the plate warmer in the kitchen. And the octopus was ridiculously chewy. I tried it a few times just to make sure it wasn't inedible and each time I was chewing forever. Had to send it back. - Finally, I ordered the truffle fries, which were fantastic. Highly recommend. I had a lovely time at Aqimero. Boozy tea was such a vibe! The seafood platter was outstanding and fresh. We also really enjoyed the tea cocktails. The cheese board was delightful and the empanadas were also really yummy. Our waiter Liam was very thoughtful and attentive. I ordered the Hibiscus Paloma Punch. I'm not a mezcal fan, so Liam substituted the mezcal in my cocktail with blanco tequila. We didn't really care for the Sweet Revolution cocktail. I had a fall a few hours after tea at the Winter Village and the staff at the Ritz Carlton were so kind. Liam got me a vacuum sealed ice bag to treat my bruises and the front desk staff provided bandaids. Boozy tea was a great experience and everyone at the Ritz Carlton was wonderful. We did the endless brunch option but I personally am not a fan of champagne so I ordered cocktails a la carte while my friends did mimosas and Bellinis. I wish they would add bloodys or another breakfast beverage as an option for non champagne drinkers - it is the ritz after all, I expected more! The food presentation was on point. Very aesthetic dishes but the quality was here and there. The pastry basket was pretty average nothing memorable. The parfait however I thought would be average as well was actually delicious! My server, Anthony, recommended the Aqimero green juice and the smoked salmon plate and it was delicious! The portion was extremely generous and I had plenty to take with me. The table next to me was unnecessarily difficult to the same server. They ordered coffee and when he returned with coffee, they wanted espresso. They ordered a soft drink and complained. Out of all the Ritz-Carltons I've seen in this world, there is something special about the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia. The architecture, white columns, high ceiling, and white draping is absolutely stunning. Which is why I selected Aquimero to have my birthday dinner. A group of 8 of us carefully selected a variety of appetizers and entrees so we could have a taste of everything. I had the rib-eye which came with a whole garlic bulb (which I found intriguing) and it allowed me to spread out the garlic on my steak. I had anticipated more creative cocktails but the selection was very simple. Typically, the service is on point but the service was somewhat slower that night. If I were staying at the hotel I would be taken aback by the amount of people in the 'lobby'. My actual experience....Servers are performing too many task. I waited greater than 15 minutes for my drink while I watched the unmasked servers laughing and flipping their hair while creating place settings. My server Lisa was working hard otherwise to ensure customer satisfaction. Because of Covid I believe some of us are at a heightened sense of cleanliness and being sanitary. That's why it may be a natural to offer me a straw touched by bare hands. For me it's unacceptable PERIOD! I enjoyed every course of the brunch. Nothing negative to say. Probably one of the best brunches I've been to! For $70, you get a 4 course meal with bottomless drinks! $70 is a bit pricey for bottomless brunch in the Philly area but it was worth it! Aquimero is located in the Ritz-Carlton and is gorgeous inside! The first and second courses consists of multiple items FOR THE TABLE - so you don't have to pick just 1! The portions are generous, we had to take food home because there was so much. The only course you have to decide on is your entree. I got the huevos rancheros which were good but I would probably get the burger next time. One of my favorite things about this brunch is the many options for drinks. Mimosas are fun but I like a little variety! Aqimero has sparkling wine, Prosecco, mimosas, kir royal, Bellinis, and champagne cocktails. The drinks were so pretty and tasty as well. The service was impeccable! Our waitress, Iyanna (I hope I'm spelling this right) was so sweet and never left us with an empty glass! She was always nearby and was so helpful with suggestions. The only thing I didn't like about the brunch is the lack of music. It was very quiet, I felt like our table was the only lively/loud one at times so it would be nice to have some background music so it's less awkward. Aqimero is a lobby bar and restaurant inside a Ritz-Carlton hotel, and this particular Ritz-Carlton was built as a reproduction of the Pantheon by the bank that once had its office here. The ex-bank design alone makes it a very pretty place, and it being a Ritz makes it even nicer. While hotel lobby bars and restaurants are normally a casual place, Aqimero is an upscale place due to it being in an ex-bank and a Ritz. I have been to Aqimero twice - once for a company event and the second time for dinner to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. The food was good. The service was great, and the servers were attentive and friendly. The prices were as expected for a nice restaurant. The prices are not cheap, but they are not price gouging either. You can probably trust that everything on the menu is good. I liked everything that I ate and am unable to pick a favorite. The guacamole with crab did not skimp on the crab. The shrimp quesadilla did not skimp on the shrimp. The queso fundido was super tasty, and I liked that it was served on a hot skillet. Both the crab flatbread and the wild mushroom flatbread were good. The ceviche tasted so fresh. The lamb chops were tender. The cheesecake was rich and delicious. Aqimero is not an everyday place if you are a normal person. I would go again for a special occasion or when my wallet can handle a splurge. Their endless bubbles and 4-course brunch looks so tempting, and I might try that the next time I splurge on a meal. read more
