I think I might have found a answer to that question at least for the area around Schloss Charlattenburg, Fra Diavolo. A short walk from the Schloss we found this place. A few nice tables outside and a warm greeting was what we needed. A beer ordered, we decided on a pizza and a salad for an afternoon late lunch/snack. The pizza was very good, parma ham and rocket (arugula) is getting to be a new favorite pizza toping for me. Thin crust, but chewy and flavorful. A base of sauce and mozzarella with a few shavings of parmesan on top. The beer was a good dunkle heff and the salad was full of fresh and tasty things. And all for very reasonable prices. So after a day touring Charlattenburg, take a short walk to a lovely neighborhood near Klausenerplaz, enjoy a beer and some pizza while the owner tends his small garden where he is growing tomatoes, hopefully to be included in the next batch of lovely food.

Luckily they found one small table for the three of us, but otherwise, the inside and outside dining was overflowing. They also speak little to no English so hopefully you speak German. While not as amazing as the two other places I reviewed in Berlin that were also Italian, it was pretty good. We ordered the margherita pizza to start and it tasted good. Sadly it asked for it crispy or well done and they couldn't understand so it was not undercooked but pale as heck. The carbonara was okay but had cream - a big no, no - and was too heavy to finish. The chicken verde (a green peppercorn sauce) was very good and I would highly recommend it. The spaghetti bolognese was pretty good but not as good as other places we tried in Berlin.
