After dropping her off, we had only been gone for about three minutes when we received a call saying she wasn't separating well and asking us to come back. When we returned, the staff member at the front desk simply handed us our check and said, "Maybe next year." I was really disappointed by how quickly the decision was made. I believe a better approach would have been to give us the opportunity to stay and let her adjust to the environment, or even allow her to participate with me nearby to see if she became comfortable. Many toddlers need a little time to warm up to a new setting. Instead, it felt like they were more interested in refunding our money than helping her succeed. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I won't be returning. It's especially disappointing because I have two daughters and was hoping to support a local business, but we'll be looking for a program in another town instead. The place was super cute though!

I brought my…read more3 year old granddaughter to Mr. Farber's studio because she walked on her toes... exercise wouldn't hurt were my thoughts. It was the right decision and the best I've ever made. My little Anna stayed and danced with Farber Ballet for 10 years. She became a beautiful, well mannered, graceful teenager. Moving to classical music day after day gave her the best posture, and she is now an honor student and very ethical. Thank you very much Mr. Farber and your wonderful school. The annual recitals were full ballet performance held in a theater, despite being a school and not a ballet company. The costumes were always very extravagant. The choreography included a variety of styles and exposed children to many cultures. It warmed audiences' hearts to watch children dancing ballets and the children enjoyed themselves. I used to sit in the classes and watch the classes. I watched Anna grow as a dancer over the years and I knew it was thanks to Mr. Farber's studio. The small classes gave individualized attention to every student. I definitely recommend it.

I never would have consist ballet for me but this is extremely accessible. American liberty. Ballet is a small ballet company that teaches and performs in ny and nj. The dance school helps to support the dance company. Currently their space is under construction but the company and school busy rehearsing and preparing for many upcoming performances. The school is based on four levels from absolute beginner to advanced beginner. All of the instructors are extremely friendly and well practiced. The school is available for all ages!! That means children and adults!!!! This past year I was able to perform in a ballet for the first time in my life. It was quite an enriching experience. Keeping in mind how tough it is to wrangle a roomful of tots, the dance instructor was impressive in her focus and engagement, laying the foundation of a classic ballet experience. Music included some of the childhood classic tunes we all know by heart, as well as classical piano standards and even a lovely instrumental version of "Here Comes the Sun." Even when a few of the children began to become distracted, our instructor managed to ramp up the interest level with ribbons and participatory exercises. Getting just one kid to pay attention is a big enough challenge, so I was in awe to see what a pro could do. Immediately, we felt like we had been welcomed into a little community. All the staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful, which I especially appreciate in such a chaotic situation as a herd of families arriving and a little bewildered. My only wish is that the space were larger, but otherwise this is a wonderful neighborhood dance school. Well done!

Adult classes are truly a bargain taught by current and former professionals, the owner Lakey was with Alvin Ailey. At the time, the location was at the original Chrystie Street studio. Prior to the lessons at CSBA, we had tried different ballet studios in other boroughs. The other dance studios cannot compare to how impeccable the CSBA lessons were. The ballet instructors, classes, and overall lessons were considered to be top-notch. The CSBA instructors were absolutely engaging, professional, and most importantly knew how to engage young children in class. Their overall program and curriculum were organized and planned out very well for classes of different levels. Because of the relocation, to our dismay, we were unable to make future lessons due to scheduling. As a result, we had to find a different studio. That also meant we had to continue to search for another ballet school that provided at least a similar positive experience we had at CSBA. After months of contacting schools and trials - we felt discouraged and disappointed in not being able to land a school that was comparably close to CSBA. We actually had a hiatus, and had to resort to other activities. Fast forward to the pandemic, CSBA announced their classes were going to be on Zoom! Not sure if that was a blessing in disguise for us - but it was certainly an opportunity for us to once again, relish in the CSBA world again! The announcement came as a huge surprise and we could not be any more excited. Not to say that the in-person classes can ever be replaced - nothing can ever top that, but if this was the next best approach, we will take it! It is not a simple feat to turn an in-person instructional methodology into an online platform - but the entire CBSA program was converted almost flawlessly. This was a Herculean effort by the entire program, that continues to deserve huge praises for their hard work. After months of lessons, we continue to enjoy the quality standards of CSBA - the ballet teachers continue to give their best instruction, even in the midst of this unprecedented time. We feel very fortunate to have had the chance to be a part of such an amazing ballet studio - so that the students will continue to learn and hone the skills for ballet.
