I read the reviews on this doctor's office, I was skeptical but decided to try it. Let me tell you,…read moreDr. Carter is by far the BEST doctor I've seen in a long time. He spent almost 30 minutes explaining procedures and my hormone imbalance. He called me in 5 refills of a medicine I've been fighting to get for months because It's controlled even though it is a hormone. He sat with us and talked to us instead of at us. He even decided to take my wife in as a patient due to hormone issues. His bedside manner was the best I've had in a long time. His nurse was a male and was very friendly also. The reviews on several sites are wrong, we weren't rushed, he looked us both in the eye and made us feel extremely confident in his ability as a urologist and surgeon. If you have any fears or doubts e-mail me I can vouch for this great office and Doctor.

I have been a patient at Dr Huffaker's office for over three years. He performed the InterStem…read moredevice to assist with incontinence issues I was having. I saw him for an exam prior to the surgery and that was it. Each time I had an appointment, I saw Jennifer, the nurse practitioner. On one particular appointment, I advised her that a "bump" was present above my tailbone. I asked her if it could be the wire that had moved to that area and she looked at it and commented that it was probably the wire. Keep in mind that I still had not seen Dr Huffaker. Presently, I have had numerous urinary tract infections. I called his office when I had one and the receptionist made me an appointment for two weeks later! I ended up going to Urgent Care! The dip test was positive, so the doctor prescribed an antibiotic. The appointment at Dr Huffaker's office finally came right after I had been diagnosed with the UTI. When I got there, they took a urine sample, I saw Jennifer and was told they'd let me know. Ultimately, the culture from Urgent Care came back negative. Dr Huffaker's nurse called me and very rudely said "you don't have a UTI!" I told her that I know my body and am certain when I have one. She continued to tell me "well, you don't have one" and that was the end of the conversation! I called the office manager and told her that I didn't appreciate the attitude of the nurse. She apologized and I was told if I have another UTI, I'm to call them, tell them I need to come into the office to give a specimen and after I do that, they'll call me! Now, anyone who has ever had a UTI knows that it's terribly uncomfortable and one needs treatment immediately! On Dr Huffaker's website, one of the treatments that he sees patients for is a UTI! After that fiasco, I once again spoke with the office manager and told her that I wanted the InterStem removed with no replacement. The surgery was scheduled. When I was in pre-op, Dr Huffaker came in to talk with me. He asked why I wanted it removed and I told him that there were issues that my husband and I had discussed and that was why. I proceeded to tell him about the "bump" above my tailbone and I thought the wire had moved. He immediately corrected me and said "well, it didn't move, it probably migrated!" I'm an educated person. Doesn't "to migrate" mean TO MOVE? And then,(and this made me see red) he said "well, that's probably why it wasn't working!" At this point, I'm thinking that he was either not told about it, or he just didn't want to bother with it! I wouldn't recommend anyone go there, especially if you're seeking treatment from a urologist! The lack of compassion and understanding at this office is lacking!

I've had to start over at DUKE. Now I'm paying to repeat what was done last year. When contacted about me having to pay to repeat tests that were of no use, I was told, "well you received the service". Even though it was botched, too bad. I think if they took their car to be fixed and the mechanic messed up, they would have a different take at it. Thank God I'm not on deaths door. Don't waste your time or money with these people. One star because no stars is not an option.

I had Dr McPhail for a prostate biopsy. I sat in the room about 20 minutes in the fetal position…read morebefore Dr McPhail came into the room. He inserted the ultrasound which caused very much pain and then he explained that he was going to numb the area where he was going to take the biopsies. After about one minute he started taking biopsies and the pain was excruciating. I could feel the needles as if I had gotten no numbing medicine whatsoever. I was yelling in pain each time he took a sample. That didn't seem to bother him as he just kept going. When I got home I was in so much pain that I was sweating and nauseous. I called the doctors office and explained my symptoms, they told me to go to the emergency room even though I did not have an elevated temperature. The person I was talking to at the doctors office did not seem to know for sure what was going on, she was just repeating what she had been told by someone else. I decided to wait a little while to see if the nausea and sweats would pass. I stopped sweating about four hours after the procedure. I stop being so nauseous after about 5 1/2 hours. Looking back it seems to me that the pain from the procedure must have been what caused the sweats and my nausea. It must have been quite traumatic to my body to have caused that reaction. Nowhere in the literature that I have looked at that I found where they warn of such pain caused by this procedure. It is now halfway through the day after the procedure and I still have not heard from the doctors office. To be fair on this review the office staff was very nice.
