Negative Experience Despite an Attentive PA…read more My first visit with Urology Specialists of the Carolinas started reasonably well. The PA, Tyler Hahn, was attentive to my health concerns and took the time to listen. Unfortunately, my experience with the rest of the staff was very different. I was made to feel as though my presence was an inconvenience rather than a patient seeking medical care. I was told that I would need a follow-up appointment for a cystoscopy and that the office would contact me to schedule it. After waiting three weeks without hearing from anyone, I ultimately had to call the office myself to get the appointment scheduled. At the follow-up appointment, Dr. Daniel J. Linn performed the cystoscopy. Unfortunately, the interaction felt extremely cold and impersonal. After the procedure, he told me that he didn't see anything out of the ordinary but when I attempted to ask a few follow-up questions, rather than taking the time to address my concerns, he started working his way to the door while offering vague suggestions/options. The interaction ended with him telling me that another follow-up visit would be needed. As a patient, I don't expect special treatment, but I do expect basic communication, professionalism, and the opportunity to have my questions answered. The rating of this place matches my experience and I will drive to SC or somewhere out of network before I have to visit here again.

He spent almost 30 minutes explaining procedures and my hormone imbalance. He called me in 5 refills of a medicine I've been fighting to get for months because It's controlled even though it is a hormone. He sat with us and talked to us instead of at us. He even decided to take my wife in as a patient due to hormone issues. His bedside manner was the best I've had in a long time. His nurse was a male and was very friendly also. This is a revision of my original post. I initially shared that my AUA experience was grossly…read morelacking. The review was topped with a one star and left me with a sense of where do I go from here. Today, the sun shines a bit brighter. I had a conversation with the practice administrator. This interaction lead me to gain a better understanding of what may or may not have lead to my frustration. AUA recently underwent a big change. Staff and physicians are attempting to learn the new systems while also trying to provide patient care. Unfortunately, it seems that I was caught up into the perfect storm. The administrator was polite and sincere. I feel my concerns were heard and that things will be moving forward. I'm hopeful that future me will revise the rating to give AUA 5 stars.
