I almost never write reviews, but I have to share with as many as possible how sincerely thankful…read morewe are for Dr. Nik and the wonderful staff at Karing Hearts in Johnson City TN, and the wonderful treatment we have received at their hands. Doctors in general come in all ranges of how much they care and how much energy they are willing to dedicate to each of their patients. When we think of maybe the 50 or 60 patients that they have in their hands within a week's time, (I actually I have no idea the number Dr. Nik is treating at any time, that number could be way low), the amount of stress they must bear, wondering if they have done all they can do, and if they have found the right diagnosis and treatment for all kinds of problems that they cannot see inside of our bodies. They also have to have a wonderful bedside manner, or we don't feel that they care. When we think of all they have on their plates, and all of the knowledge that they have available in their heads, we can only be patient and grateful. How many of us can be UP all day long for days on end? Especially when often the news they are delivering is very hard for the patient and their family to hear. Doctors have to rely on test results to get at the cause, and therefore the best remedy for us. This takes time, and at least Dr. Nik sent me for these tests. My 1st heart doctor sent me for an echocardiogram, and declared that nothing more could be done for me, and sent me home with no hope. Dr. Nik was not quick to send me to surgery, and he was working to get me to the position of having the least invasive surgery. Time between tests at Karing Hearts was about 2 weeks, and after each test, it was the following week that I had a meeting with Dr. Nik to find out what was next. How many doctors can you say that about??? I had to wait 2 months to see my first heart doctor for the first visit. Even when I called the Karing Hearts office to make additional appointments, like to check my low blood-pressure, I got an appointment within the next few days. I feel heard! I am extremely grateful for all of Dr. Nik's expertise and caring. My experience is that I am in the best of hands, and I didn't have to go to a major city to get this excellent care. We are sincerely grateful to all of you at Karing Hearts, and especially you, Dr. Nik!!!! And, of course he could not be so good without his wonderful caring nurses! THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!!

The only thing that I would be hesitant about (and this goes with any hospital) is that you always have to have someone there to make sure that the doctors and nurses are on the same page. When you have multiple doctors with conflicting opinions, it becomes a parent or relative's responsibility to set them straight. YMMV in the above statement. Overall, the staff was great but there were a couple night shift and surgeons that needed some help in the people skills department. Not a huge issue, but when the stress from an injured family member hits a family hard, it might become a bigger problem.

They make a LOT of mistakes. In addition, different divisions/floors don't keep in contact with each other, leading to constant confusion. You can be dealing with two doctors, different specialties, who do not talk about the patient's needs. Some of the nurses are excellent, but they disappear for long periods. Sometimes you'll have eight visible nurses, then suddenly NOBODY. They allow alarms to run endlessly - it's excruciating. Why don't they have a central nurses' station on EVERY floor - with somebody always there? The cafeteria is adequate, at best. I stuck to the lobby sandwich shop. The patient food is odd, and most seems very unhealthy, for a hospital. Stop providing difficult-to-eat food for old people, folks.

I felt like I was under attack by her because I wanted to switch Derm offices. She called me a tough girl, after I said I had been vaccinated for everything as a Military brat, then proceeded to cut on me before I was even numb. She said that she was glad 'that I was not one of those kinds about vaccinations." Just what kind does she mean? I sat there in shock. I had a great relationship with Dr. Clemmons, Sr who was one of the co-founding doctors of this center. I am debating about calling the Nursing Board and filing a complaint against her. I would not let her work on my dog nor another human. Such a shock from a place that I spent thousands of dollars in the skin center. If I were one of the owners, with their credentials and reputation, I would dismiss her from her job as she does not have the credentials that the majority of their staff has and the unacceptable way she dealt with me. I was looking for help not what I got. Politics have no place in a doctors office. She may get sued as well.

I've had a neurologist, a cardiologist an orthopedist, a Thoracic Surgeons and just about any other kind of doctor you could imagine work on me. but I never ever ever realized the true value of a nurse until I spent all that time in the hospital. I had the great privilege of being a friend of one of the most respected Thoracic Surgeons in the country, dr. Joseph Wilson, in Palm Springs California. And dr. Wilson told me if I truly wanted to know what the best thing to do was, just ask the nurses that took care of the patients after the doctor got done working on them? What an interesting concept coming from a doctor, it may be one of the reasons he is so highly respected! What does this have to do with Johnson City Family Physicians? When I decided to leave California and the comfort of all my knowing doctors in that area I came to Johnson City and found out that sometimes that care is not always the same or the care allowed is not always the same in different states. So after a few failed attempt to find a family physician here in Tennessee, something led me, for those of you that believe in God you'll know what I mean for those of you who don't let's just call it a very interesting set of circumstances. I made an appointment with a nurse practitioner? That is a person who started out in the medical field to provide the care and compassion that a nurse does and then through their own personal desire went back to school and got a master's in order to be able to prescribe and care for patients just like a doctor does. So you get the care and compassion of a nurse send it in with the capabilities of a doctor, and I can assure you did some doctors aren't really that interested in your personal being? I know that sounds funny but if you would like me to share instances out of the hospital with you I will. So went to the office and I should have known right when the nurse came out to get me, her name was Doris Hardin, and my aunt Doris was married to my Uncle Joe and brought me to Great cousins and I used to work with a gentleman named Denning Hardin, who always made me laugh because he said there is no ding in Hardin hahaha and then the nurse practitioner Doctor Pat Gibson came in, and it was my aunt passed who offered to adopt me from my mom because my mom was only 17 years old when I was born set my mom chose to come to California and live with her sister on Gibson Road in Woodland Cprovideralifornia! So the words and the word Gibson were both big parts of my life before I even got here and I mean a lot to me and fortunately they mean far more to me now than they used to because I have found a caring considerate understanding and a dog loving oh, and it was a dog's love and push that actually got me back walking again so, well, I would have given Dr Gibson 20 Stars but that would have been a couple hundred too short? Or maybe thousands?
