(Neither of which were simple issues. ) This last one we had to call him on a Saturday night and he called right back and came Sunday morning. He worked very hard to successfully make the problem something that cost us a few hundred dollars instead of a few thousand. We had a big piece of lead pipe several feet under our home clogging our main line. He went to extreme lengths to fish it out while many would have said they had to dig to fix it. This was beyond appreciated. We can't recommend him more.

We needed a leak fix ASAP on what could've been possibly the hottest day thus far, and they were…read morethe quickest in terms of response time. It was so unbearably hot since we depend heavily on our central air, and didn't have access to remote fans or window ACs. So you can imagine our haste for help. But the problem was, a few places nearby in Jersey City were booked for the day, as well the week, assuming that everyone was calling these folks because it was just so freaking hot outside. Fortunately, Challenger answered and were prompt in their scheduling. They told me they'd be at my house within the 2 hours of our call, and are one of the only companies out here that'll void the consultation fee. Yes, that's right! You do NOT have to pay that $70+ charge for just "taking a look". They also quote you before making any repairs, and even did a leak test without mentioning a dime as well. We ended up having to refill Freon (approx. 5 pounds worth) but with the leak fix included, our total only hit $400. That's a freaking steal! Most places I've called quoted me at $550+ not including the looking fee, so these guys really did hit the bar with a bargain. Quick work as well, Manny was in and out within 2 hours. And even with my plethora of questions, both dumb and complex, they made sure to give the truth as far as fixes go. I think we've been "contractor scammed" annually for the past few years, as this has been a recurring problem that hasn't been fully investigated. Most guys we've hired weren't able to locate the leak, or hardly mentioned/acknowledged the possibly of one. So hearing that there was in fact a medium-sized leak attributing to the frozen coils was so reassuring. Hire these folks up! There are no frills or hidden fees in what they do.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Challenger Company in Roselle. After they…read moreinstalled my hot water heater, the manufacturer later issued a recall. When my unit suddenly stopped working, I reached out for help--only to be immediately told that it must be the recalled part, without anyone even coming out to inspect or properly diagnose the issue. That assumption alone was a major red flag. I was then told that no replacement part could be sourced until Monday because their supplier was closed--completely ignoring the fact that other plumbing supply companies like Oasis and American Supply are open on weekends. I was left without hot water and no real support. To make matters worse, instead of trying to honor the original installation or offer a reasonable solution, they attempted to upsell me a completely new unit at more than double the original cost. This, despite the fact that I hadn't even gotten full use out of the first one they installed. This company clearly prioritizes profit over customer service or ethical responsibility. I would not recommend them to anyone. Do your homework and go with a company that stands by its work and treats people with respect.
