American Home Shield dispatched Appliance Wizard for a second opinion on our dishwasher after an absolutely awful experience with another company. Appliance Wizards technician was so knowledgeable and able to diagnose our faulty dispenser. The technician also gave us really good advice on the soap and how to improve performance. Such a refreshing change from A-Fix. We still have to wait for the part to come in but right now I couldn't be happier with their service. read more

The owner came out to diagnose a dryer that was not drying our clothes all the way. It was taking us 4 times of setting the dryer to finally dry our clothes. He walked outside to look at the vent and came back in to inform me it was clogged and said we would need to have our dryer vent cleaned. It was just cleaned in the fall. The next day I went out to inspect the vent. The cover had a little lint on it but nothing big. I pulled off the vent cover and the vent was clean. This was pure laziness on this tech's part. And he's the owner of the business! I contacted the business to ask them to return and they decided not to. What a sham of a business. read more

This company directly caused over $5,000 of damage to a client's property then denied ever touching the washer. They forgot to hook up a drain hose and that caused the damage. They refused to provide their insurance information and basically told the claims rep to file a lawsuit if they wanted to pursue. Yikes. run away! read more

He was excellent - on time, very knowledgeable, fixed both appliances efficiently, and is an all-round nice guy. I have called on Appliance Wizard for (maybe) 15 years. Appliance wizard was paid to do a repair on my refrigerator. The tech came out to repair a frig leak. Within. Two hours after he left the fridge started to leak and flooded out my kitchen floor causing additional damage to my kitchen floor. The company diagnosed the problem incorrectly and refused to come and and correct the issue after they had been paid. There are other complaints that had been filed with LANDMARK WARRANTY CO. Like others, I had the misfortune of working with this company because Landmark Home warranty contracted them. Our oven went out the day before Thanksgiving, and they could not come and check it out until a few weeks later. Once the technician did arrive- he told me they needed to order a part. No one followed up, and after multiple messages left, we finally got someone back to our house 12/30. So like others have stated, we unfortunately went a whole month without an oven which is not great. The tech who did work on our oven was fast and efficient. My 1st introduction with Appliance Wizard was with Walter (Owner), he was assigned to repair 4 of my items, my complaint is regarding 2 of them: LG washer and Kenmore dryer, American Home Shield (AHS) is responsible for assigning them. They were quick to respond, quick appointment set up and diagnosis. Just like the reviews " At first, everything was great. Jackie was great to deal with on the phone and Walt came out and did a diagnosis. The second visit to install the parts went entirely downhill." This is my story completely! Friday 10/26 - 430ish: 2 installers came out "Rob (son of Walt) and another guy. I didn't watch them install the parts but they came back upstairs within 15mins and said they were done. After an hour later, I put on a medium size load of clothes to wash and left, like I normally do, and 10 mins later I was told by my kid that the washer was flooded...No doubt, water was 1-2" on my bathroom/basement floors! It took us 3 hrs to clean up. I immediately called the company, Eastside #, and got the sister of Rob on the phone. I told her that he'd just left (less than an hour ago) and my basement was flooded, so she said she'd call him and told me to call AHS as well. She calls me back 5 mins later and says, "he doesn't know what happen because he didn't touch the water" I told her that whatever he "did aka touch" made our water overfill. She said he could not come out again tonight but would call about the time he'd be able to come by tomorrow, but no guaranteed time based on his already set schedule. I even sent her photos of the damage. I sat on the phone with AHS for 45mins to inform them of the situation and they told me that they could not send anyone else out here because "Appliance Wizard owns the service request" and I'd already paid the fee to them. They said they'd submit another request and the sooner they could come would be Tuesday. It was further explained to me that I could not get an emergency vendor because "Appliance Wizard" was (had) already serviced my issue...WTF. I asked them to file a complaint because this was a terrible, my flooring was 90% installed and water had gotten under 25% of it, which now needed to be uninstalled and repurchased and reinstalled + labor. Saturday, 10/27/18 9am - Rob shows up and takes a look at the washer and said the sensor/valve that was clogged and he flushed some air through it. Further stating that it was the sensor that tells the washer how much water to "fill". He also said that we should wait until the load is underway before walking away...Really? Really...who has time to wait their clothes wash, in fear that it might overflow again...when it wasn't overfilling until they install their suspension kit. 30 mins later I washed a medium load of clothes and sure enough the water was almost filled to the brim, like a "heavy load" and I was still getting the error msg of UE (Uneven) This was precisely the problem they were supposed to fix!!!! I took photos and I called AHS again, who then put in another service request. I even told them that the dryer was still not drying our clothes on High Heat in 40 mins...this was the other appliance that was supposed to get fixed, another service request was submitted for this as well. Today, Sunday 10/28/18 - My floor installer comes to finish off my flooring and told me he couldn't because the flooring was warped and water was trapped underneath, he'd have to remove about 25% of the flooring, and I'd have to purchase ~3 boxes of flooring to repair on top of a $200 labor fee. I am furious because if we don't replace it, it will grow mold. Now I'm back on the phone with AHS again to explain my issue. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Appliance Wizard for a fairly new Whirlpool refrigerator that stopped working. The appointment was 1 week out. I found an alternative and tried to cancel and was put on hold 16 minutes. Their support service unclearly states that u can hold or get a call back (1) or get a call back 2). The call back option did not work. Not sure how to cancel. Sadly my 2 year old dishwasher stopped dish washing. It seemed like it wasn't getting water so I rebooted it by briefly turning off the circuit breaker. Yea-it got water! ---but still still wasn't performing it's amazing Kitchen Aid job. Last resort : Read the manual. Oops, I was supposed to clean the filter every 2-3 months. My bad. Couldn't get the "upper filter" out so I called Wizard Appliance Repair. The Wizard pushed a few buttons and said the dishwasher was 10 years old and needed a NEW MOTOR--about $700.+ service call. "Still less than a new washer." Called kitchen aid service. "That model is 3 years old. Not a new motor-A new appliance repair person." Try power off for 5 minutes. I also let the water at the sink run until it was hot and used "Glisten dishwasher cleaner". --SUCCESS!! Amazing dishwasher again. Expensive misdiagnosis by the Wizard. read more

Do not hire this company. Do not let them in your home. Do not let your home warranty company send these folks. I am surprised they are even still in business. Would rate Appliance Wizard a 0 star if possible. Worst experience with any company I have ever had. American Home Shield sent them to us to diagnose and fix our GE Dishwasher. Took 2 weeks for them to come to our house and diagnose the status. Took 2 more weeks until they came back with parts. The tech who arrived to install the parts was irritated before even walking into our house after being asked to wear a mask as we have an unvaccinated child. It went downhill from there. After removing the DW door we pointed out that the seal at the bottom was frayed and torn (which he failed to notice during the first assessment visit). The tech just ripped the seal off the bottom and indicated that he had no intention of fixing it and that "the seals don't do anything." After taking apart the DW and replacing the circuit boards, he then proceeded to remove the parts he had just installed and put the bad parts back in. He remounted the DW door and took the new parts with him, pretty much leaving us worse off than we were before he had come to our house. He just walked out the front door and when I asked him what the status of the work was, he just scoffed at me and said he would refer us to another company and that he was taking "his" parts with him. We have been without the dishwasher for 4 weeks only to be left worse off and starting over with AHS! I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life. Do not hire this company. Do not let them in your home. Do not let your home warranty company send these folks. I am surprised they are even still in business. read more

THEY ARE THE WORST! They are one of the servicers for American Shield Home Insurance and they cancelled on me twice when an appointment was made. I should of just asked for another servicer from that point. Then when they finally came they did not fully fix my dryer and said they'd come back. They didn't, no call nothing. Now they're telling me to pay for another work order (another $100 with American Shield) because it was a different part to the dryer when it broke on us again.....because of them not following through with their job. Our freezer has been problematic since moving in and we were set up with this company through AHS. Appliance Wizard came to our house twice and the freezer is still leaking, more than it did from the start. The first time a technician came to assess the problem they barely looked into it since I said we replaced the ice maker. He claimed we solved the problem and left within 5 minutes. The second time the technician came, a part was replaced (which should've been replaced to begin with had the technician spent more than 30 seconds looking at the leak during the first visit). I've requested service for a third time now and Appliance Wizard refuses to send someone to fix the same leak unless we pay another fee. The problem was never properly addressed due to the complete lack of knowledge or care. This place sucks. read more

Our home warranty company sent Appliance Wizard to repair/review our washing machine. The repairperson came, decided it needed a new motor - motor was ordered, a month later motor arrived. Repairperson installed new motor and after a number of swearing segments declared the machine as unfixable... that in itself is fine HOWEVER SHE HAS NEVER FILED HER REPORT WITH THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND IS NOT RESPONDING TO REQUESTS FROM NEITHER SAID WARRANTY COMPANY NOR MYSELf!!! Consequently, the home warrenty company (First American) is making me start the process all over again by sending out a new repair person...process began Sept 1 and new assessment appointment isn't until Oct.25. Like many reviewers here I have a home warranty with American Home Shield, which is awful, to say the least, and this company is one of their service contractors. When they are sent out by AHS they are limited as to what can be done to make a customer happy but in my case they were terrific! They assessed the issue with my dishwasher in minutes, ordered the part, and a week or so later arrived to install. That took all of five minutes as well. They were professional, timely, and all-around nice guys. They had been to my house before installing my new wall oven/micro combo and also did a great job. read more

After six trips from a different company through the insurance company Joe came out from appliance wizard and within 5 minutes diagnosed and took care of everything I needed to have done with the insurance company in order to get a new refrigerator since obviously after six times of a previous company who were very horrible and putting us through 5 months of me having to get to $25 refrigerators while waiting on them to do nothing appliance wizard took care of it in 5 minutes They were very thorough and actually took tools out and used them unlike the other company so they made my weekend and I now will get a refrigerator that I can use The other company did not even care that I have a 87-year-old dad and 85-year-old mother living here without a refrigerator Bottom line is if you want something done right call the appliance wizard read more

Very rarely when things go wrong do you receive a phone call profusely apologizing. This is the case here. I won't go into the details but suffice to say, Deanna came through for us with the repair on our washer. Serviceman was fantastic and we now, technically have a new washer with all new parts. Worth repairing and cheaper than buying a new one. I recommend this service and will definitely use again in the future. read more

WIRST SERVICE EVER. DONT USE!!! I had Appliance Wizard replace a door lock on my washer which was terribly expensive only for them to tell me it is probably the circuit board. Turns out they were right it was the circuit board so now they had to order the part. I called twice to check up on it. It was confirmed that the part was ordered but that with the pandemic it takes longer. I got so much attitude and none of it good attitude from Autumn the receptionist who verified they ordered the part but she would not call and check on it. I hate to leave bad reviews, not wanting to unnecessarily harm any small business, but the experience I had with Appliance Wizard was so bad, I feel I have to share. I have waited several months to see if they would respond to my concerns and repair the damage they made to my kitchen floor but the manager is mysteriously never available when I call and messages I leave are ignored. Here's what happened: a rather unfriendly gentleman came out to my home initially to replace the igniter on my gas stove. (Stove wouldn't start) The door to the kitchen was closed and the repair seemed to be taking a very long time. When I finally went to investígate, I discovered the front glass door to my oven was shattered in tiny pieces all over the floor and the repair guy was having a close to whispered conversation with his office. We discussed what had happened which seemed like a straight forward accident. However, during his attempted repair, had pulled the oven out from the wall and I was horrified to see that in addition to the broken glass door, there were now deep gouges in my cork floor. I pointed this out and asked him how he would repair it and he said it would be taken care of when he replaced the now broken glass door. That seemed acceptable. Months went by with no word on my glass door Finally, 7 months later the same guy came back to replace the glass door The delay in glass replacement was related to COVID supply chain issues and I understood. I then asked him again what he was going to do about the damage he did to my floor. He said a "floor guy" would be giving me a call Well, needless to say, no floor guy ever called and now I am unable to get any response at all from Appliance Wizard. I am going to have to replace my floor and, although I wouldn't have expected Appliance Wizard to pay for all of the cost, they should have provided some compensation for the damage they caused. In my experience, it is very unusual to encounter such extremely unprofessional service. I would urge anyone needing an appliance repair to steer clear of Appliance Wizard read more

this company accepted my job less then 24 hours after I had placed the word from landmark HW. They scheduled 28 days out. After the tech came, he had to order a part and could not give me a date to come back. The part arrived 1 week after tech came but they waited 3 days to call to schedule an appointment. When I had talked to Al. he stated this lengthy time was a problem between me and my landlord, btw I am the owner. And Al stated he didn't care how long it takes. After a few passive aggressive I silts from Al who was frustrated that I wanted to schedule an appointment in case the part came early... which he refused... this company scheduled an appointment to fix my machine 3 weeks later. The total time I was left without a washing machine was 2 months and Al did not care. While the tech seemed a bit empathetic and confused who Al is... all I was told was they were short handed and parts take a long time... if I were you... I would find a different company... one that cares about your business. read more

My first appointment was scheduled from 2 - 5. The Tech did not come. So we rescheduled. He came and ordered a part, I waited a month with no call. I called them and they realized they had the part, but never bothered to call me to schedule an appointment to install it. Finally,  They installed the part to my fridge and left. It did not fix the problem. So I called them again and the tech did not want to come out, instead he asked for a text of my appliance number so he could order a different part. About 2 weeks later I called them again to check in to see if they had my part, it was in. They didn't bother to call me to tell me they had the part again! So, we scheduled another appointment from 11 - 2 and he did not show up again. I would not recommend this company to anyone based off my service. read more

This place is the worst. Seriously. I only had to use them because of my home warranty. My fridge stopped cooling, the guy came out, glances at the refrigerator and said, "I'm going to order a circuit board. They'll call you when it gets in." Turned around and left. They stopped answering the phone whenever I called so I emailed to get an update on how long it would be before the part arrived. Got a response right away: 5-7 business days. That was 2 weeks ago. American Home Shield says the part arrived, but Appliance Wizard still says they don't have it in yet. Whatever. I'm getting my $75 service fee refunded and instead of giving Appliance Wizard another dollar I'm having a brand new $3000 fridge delivered tomorrow. After working with appliance wizard (VIA American home shield) I felt the tech was short and told me that the censor cook was normal to not cook thoroughly. Even though the censor cooking worked great months ago and my microwave gave an error code. Initially I gave a lesser review since I felt service was sub-par. Especailly since I didn't recieve any sort of call or notification for day of arrival time. After the owner/operator called we talked over the issue experienced he expressed concern and dedication to good customer service. Turned out the tech recommended my microwave be replaced with a new model in accordance with the contract I have with American home shield. Overall I do feel apliance wizard is trying to the right thing for their customers. I do recommend them to anyone. I will use them again. read more

Unfortunately, we've had to cross paths with the Wizard a time or two. He isn't the jolly kind that makes fireworks, he's more like Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter. Each time they have come to our house to fix a bewitched appliance it has turned into a circus of sorts. They end up leaving with the appliance in worse condition and you wont hear back from them for a month or longer while they are off at wizarding school. The owner (Walter) is very condescending and only really cares about collecting the service fees. Their apprentice wizards are learning spells of slaying the broken or bewitched appliance from youtube while at your house. If this is your only option on fixing your appliance, you'd be better off buying a new one than dealing with this group of "repair" folks. read more

I'm very surprised at the 1-star reviews on Walt. I've used him three different times, twice in emergencies. He was prompt, personable, and his prices were completely reasonable. I'm writing today to add a very specific testimonial for this guy. About a year ago he came out because our 14-year-old washing machine started leaking. He took a look, identified the problem and fixed it, and then warned me that it would keep happening periodically and showed me how to fix it myself next time. This weekend, as predicted, it happened again, and I fixed it myself. That's REAL customer service, and that's why Walt will get my call the next time I need outside assistance. They do NOT stand behind their work or the lack of. They supposedly fixed my ref back in mid Feb. All the guys did was melt the accumulated ice in the freezer and vacuum up the water and said that should not happen again.well about2 months later it started leaking again. Not wanting someone in my home during covid, i just cleaned up the water myself daily. Feeling safer now and called them last week with no response. Called again and they wanted to charge me again. I used appliance wizard for a home warranty repair. Usually the companies I get that American Home Shield (AHS) sends over are not great. Appliance wizard was an exception! Every person I dealt with was professional from start to finish. Deanna scheduled my appointments and was always kind and communicative. Rob was skilled and respectful of my home. He made sure to cover his shoes and wear a mask. After my warranty expired, AHS would not cover a revisit to fix a minor issue. However the owner of appliance wizard made it right immediately without any further compensation. I would recommend this highly professional company to anyone! read more

This is by far the single worst experience we've ever had with an vendor in Portland. Walt was contracted by First American Home Warranty to replace our built in microwave. He cancelled on us twice the day of supposed service after we'd taken off work. He's a liar...said he couldn't do our install because he didn't have the proper paperwork/workorder and when we called the warranty company they informed us that was in fact incorrect. And then after a third phone call with the home warranty company they informed me that he basically said he didn't want to do the job so he just blew it off. Unbelievable lack of professionalism and i will NEVER use them again. I will be reporting him to the BBB as well. read more

When I finally reached him and asked him to schedule he got upset, claimed he was out in the field and told me to call home warranty back and tell them he does not want the job, a small repair on stove buttons that was put in over a month ago. They came out, looked into the issues, replaced parts, found out that those parts weren't the issue, and came back out with the correct parts on a Saturday morning to resolve the issue. This is one of the most unprofessional service companies I have ever dealt with. Service Tech showed up 4 hours late and then proceeded to let me know that he could not perform the necessary installation which was clearly due to company not doing their due diligence in understanding the scope of work and already knowing the details of the type of wall oven unit that would need either 1 or 2 people to do this work. When I followed up after the weekend, I shared my experience and asked simply why this would not be more obvious with whom I think was the owner of the company. Service person (I think owner) on phone became super defensive and yelled at me to go F myself and find someone else to come do the work. Never have I experience such a poor lack of respect and understanding for customer. This company I doubt will be in business much longer if it continues to operate like this... other reviews here also indicate how poorly rated this company is. They suck. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! Appliance wizzard came out to look at my stove and decided a motherboard needed to be replaced. A week later, after they had the part, they came out and replaced it. So...two weeks go by and all of a sudden our stove top started turning on all by its self! I couldn't turn any of the burners off because the twist knobs were already on OFF!!! the only way was to pull the oven out and unplug it. It turned on while we were at work leaving my dogs in a house that could burn up at any moment. I called and expressed my concern, telling them about my 4 month old baby... I need the stove for bottles and sanitizing baby parts! Plus I don't want a fire hazard with anyone in my house let alone my baby! They said they weren't covered to come out and hung up on me. I have called and called and they either ignore my call or pick it up and then hang up. I am so upset. Please....you have so many options! DO NOT USE THESE GUYS!!! read more
