Appliance Medic - BEWARE AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS I'm writing this review based on my personal experience with Appliance Medic, and unfortunately, the quality of service has declined dramatically compared to previous years. This company was once reliable, and although their prices were on the higher side, the work was generally done properly. However, after a recent service call, I can no longer recommend them. In my experience, both the professionalism and competence of the current team have dropped significantly. What Happened: We scheduled a service visit for a refrigerator repair. The technician who arrived explained to my wife how she could supposedly fix the issue herself -- yet still charged the full-service fee. He then went on to suggest returning to our home privately, outside of the company, to perform unrelated repair work. We declined this offer because it felt completely inappropriate and unprofessional. To make matters worse, the "advice" given for self-repair turned out to be entirely incorrect. We ultimately had to hire a different appliance repair company, who quickly identified the actual problem and replaced the necessary component. Refund Issues: I contacted the owner multiple times. We mutually agreed that the service fee should be refunded due to the poor and misleading service. Despite several follow-ups and repeated assurances that the refund would be issued, we still have not received it. Bottom Line: Based on this experience, I strongly recommend avoiding Appliance Medic. What was once a trustworthy company has, in my view, become unreliable and unprofessional. Appliance Medic called on a Sunday to come over with no advance notice. The alleged technician who was dressed in religious garb came in a personal car with no identification an no mask. He claimed to be vaccinated via J&J but no booster(s). Because I have an ill person in the house who is scheduled for surgery to remove a suspected cancerous tumor, I told the technician that I could not take the risk of possible Covid exposure. The Technician demanded $85 despite the fact no service was provided. Minutes after leaving I got two follow-up calls demanding payment of $85 claiming that their "time was wasted" and was told I would be placed on their "no service" list. I called appliance medic because I knew that I needed a new computer board for my 20 year old GE double wall oven. Because a new oven would have cost about $3000 I responded to an ad in a local neighborhood flyer. The company has good ratings. However, their offer for a free house call was not applicable in my case because the cost to repairs was almost $800. My complaint is that instead of the $99 fee advertised, they charged $129 and on top of that they added a charged for using a credit card. The person who came to look at the oven was polite, well-spoken, and I have no problem at all with that. I just do not like doing business with a company that does any type of bait and switch. While this is minor, I find myself annoyed and not because of the fact that I chose not to proceed with the repair. **DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY** If I could leave NEGATIVE 5 stars I would. My husband and I were referred to this company by our new homeowners insurance. Long story short, our ice maker was broken and stopped making ice. The technician did not come during the scheduled time frame and the technician and the company did not call us to let us know. We had to call the company to reschedule. The technician did show up - but not at the scheduled time frame and then accused us of breaking the piece and taking it down. As he accused us, he removed the part, asked for payment, told us he has to order the part, and would be in contact. We got a phone call one week later saying the part was in and we scheduled another appointment. The technician did NOT show up and we got no phone call again. We rescheduled 2 more times and finally the technician showed up - once again NOT in the scheduled time slot. Only to find out the first technician who goes by FRANKIE took the ENTRIE piece. We called to repair our Dishwasher initially in March 2023. The technician (Eddy) was very nice and diagnosed the problem as a pressure control switch. He came back within a week to install the $$300 part. So we have now spent $460. Within a week the dishwasher stopped mid cycle again and the water would not entirely drain. I called again and they apologized but said I needed a control board. Waited a whole day again and when he called to say he was on his way, he realized the part was not the correct one. Now a full month later in April, he returned and installed the control board for $100. We went on vacation the next day, but when we returned, the original problems were the exact same. I called and Eddy was supposed to come out last Wednesday. I waited all day. When I called the next day, they did not answer my phone, or call me back. Just left another message, but I bought and had installed a new dishwasher yesterday! Buyer beware!!!! I have left messages requesting a refund for the parts that were installed that were clearly not the problem. 0 Stars I have a Bluestar range that needed repairs they came out on 5/21/2021 to look at the range they said that the 6 burner spark module was bad and they wanted a $266.25 deposit which I paid. I 'am still waiting to hear form them! Appliance Medic did an outstanding job on my refrigeration. The freezer was not getting cold enough. They came out and identified the issue quickly. They scheduled a date and tine to fix, showed up on time and fixed the problem in short order. A few days later, we noticed the freezer was leaking. They were good to their word, came out in short order and fixed that problem. Benjamin is very funny and of course, does a great job. I recommend using Appliance Medic. read more

When you call, you have to leave a message, They responded to my original call within minutes. I explained that I was receiving an error code on my LG dishwasher. Tech diagnosed it as a drain blockage causing a back up into dishwasher and advised me to call a plumber. Plumber said there didn't appear to be a blockage but snaked the drain anyway. The error code continued and I called Appliance Medic to come back and properly repair the machine. No response. I called again the next day and still no response. I was finally able to reach LG and was sent a true LG tech who diagnosed it as a faulty motor. Motor was on back order so after spending over $500 in "repairs" , I bought a new dishwasher. **FUTURE CUSTOMERS BEWARE** If you read other REAL reviews below then you will get a better idea of the kind of company this is. I was assigned Appliance Medic (Solomon) as my repairman through my insurance to fix my washer. We submitted the claim in February. It is now April. After 1 1/2 months of this guy not showing up to numerous scheduled appointments (and he never even bothered to call beforehand or afterwards), I put my foot on a gas and pressed him this week to please please come to his scheduled appointment. Once again, he did not show. And no phone call. The next day he texed me that a technician is coming. Once again, no one showed, and no phone call. He texted me that night asking me "What's the address?" "What's the plan?" At this point I felt like someone was pulling a prank on me; his responses made absolutely zero sense that I couldn't even be angry at the situation anymore, I was just laughing at how ridiculous this guy is. He then told me that it's "All taken care of" and that he will call me back on Monday to schedule another appointment. Hahahahaha OMG. I wrote a review on 7/15/2020 regarding a light bulb for my range hood that I have been waiting for since the beginning of June 2020. A simple light bulb that costs $50 is costing me more time and effort. After writing my review, I received a phone call from Saul stating the bulb would be in the following week. HE ALSO ASKED ME TO REMOVE THE POST FROM YELP. ABSOLUTELY NOT! It is now September 23, 2020 and I haven't heard from Saul regarding my light bulb for my range hood that is under a service contract. I felt compelled to write the review. A simple fix for Appliance Medic would be to deliver the light bulb. If I knew that the problem with my range hood was it needed a new light bulb, I would've gladly purchased the $50 light bulb. My LG washing machine wasn't working properly and the power button was stuck so I couldn't turn the power on. My wife calls appliance medic on august 24th of 2022 and the office receptionist gives her an appointment to send out a technician at 3:30 pm on August 25th . The technician arrives with no logo on his vehicle or name tag. He rings the doorbell and says he's from appliance medic to check out the machine . He says his name is Gabi. I tell the technician the problem and he opens the computer board with a power drill . He says the button is broken and a new part needs to be ordered . He also says that I need a new water valve on the machine . He also mentions that I might need a new mother board since I had trouble with the machine light staying on and the machine not restarting . He calls back the office to get an estimate. They come back with a quote of 1100 dollars . I put a down payment of 250 to include the 130 service call . It is now October 5th 2022 and I haven't heard a thing about the parts arriving . Everytime I attempt to call the phone number listed , I receive a busy signal. Listen here , Zelman Pollock , if you read this review . You are a swindler and a crook . I know that first hand . My fridge got broken Sept 2017. The person from Appliance Medic Monsey location showed up as official LG Repair Representative. Hi did some diagnostics and told me that he need to order some parts and it will take 1-2 weeks. That's it. Right now its March 2018 and my fridge is still broken. I called for service and my appointment was next day which I was grateful as two other companies told me can't come for two more days. The tech called in advance to confirm window of time and when he was on his way which was appreciated. Fernando was a likable man who diagnosed my GE dryer issue in record time. The truck had the new GE dryer belt part of their roving inventory. The other company would need a second trip as they did not carry inventory on a service call. The price was not cheap for repair of a belt that probably cost $20 but given the efficiency, professionalism & experience I would call this Appliance Medic again if ever needed. read more

Appliance medic came to fix my dryer through my homeowner's warranty for appliances. I admit It started off on a bad note between miscommunication from them and my warranty company as this took more than a month. When they finally came for the repair after ordering the parts they told my husband the part may be too big for what it was supposed to fix but they installed it anyway. About 2 weeks later I noticed my basement was very warm and the air felt damp and upon closer inspection we realized they never put back the duct to the outside so all this time , the dryer fumes and carbon monoxide was being exhausted into my home! On top of that, the dryer dial setting only defaults to normal and I lost all usage of the specialty settings that was working fine prior to the so called repair. I then contacted my warranty company and appliance medic and got the run around. I finally caught a call back from Saul and I explained the issues and he was very nasty and denied that this technician would ever remove the duct. Basically calling my husband a liar. I even sent him a picture of my dryer all disassembled by his technician and he kept asking me what that picture was. If you are in the appliance industry , you should know what a machine looks like taken apart. I also sent him a picture of the dial that was ruined by the repair and he denied knowing what that was at all. He vehemently denied that any of his technicians would ever remove the dryer duct! I googled the dangers of having the dryer air not vented outside and this could have been a tragedy. He was totally ignorant and unsympathetic and basically scoffed at the thought and said there was never any danger. I beg to differ. To date I have not received a call back from anyone so if anyone is reading this review please BEWARE of this place! I wouldn't recommend this business to my worst enemy. I called them to come to my house to repair my dishwasher. They charge me a trip/service charge..Gave me no idea how much to repair would be. When they showed up they told me the job would be a very difficult one. Basically used scare tactics. I looked on YouTube and the job takes 10 minutes to complete. They tried to charge me over $400 to install a motor in my dishwasher.I subsequently called another contractor and they did it for half the price. I am fighting with them currently with my credit card company to retrieve the service trip charge. He texted me on my phone telling me he's taking me to court for $100.. This is a review that I recently wrote for an "Appliance Repair Medic", a business that is listed in Monsey, NY as well as Spring Valley, NY. After poking around a bit, I find that this is most likely the same scam artists that also own Appliance Medic. I say this, because they both have the same contact email- info@appliance-medic.com. I have therefore copied my other review here for everyone to see. I found Appliance Repair Medic by searching the internet and contacted them to check out my Thermador gas cooktop and repair one of the burners. The man told me over the phone that a house visit would cost $129, and this amount will be applied towards the final bill if I choose to have him do the repair. I agreed and a repair man came to my house on 2/7/2018. He looked at the stove and told me that a part had to be ordered. He said the total price is $600, and asked for an advance of $300 in order to order the part. I gave him a check for $300. After several weeks, I had not heard from them, and so I called them. Initially, the guy told me he is having difficulty finding the part and is still trying. So I waited some more, and called him again. After some time, he stopped taking my calls and never called back. Then I managed to track down the repair man (employee), and asked him. He got back to me saying that the owner has mailed a check to me since he cannot find the part. I waited some more and called the guy again. This time, he picked up the phone, and told me that the check is in the mail and to get back to him if I don't get it in a week. A week passed, but there was no check. Now the guy stopped answering my calls. I also tried to leave an online message for him via his website, all to no avail. Finally, I contacted Rockland County Consumer Affairs and lodged a complaint. The person assigned to my case contacted the owner of the business, and after several phone calls and a personal visit by him, the man handed a check in the amount of $171.00, saying he cannot repair the appliance since the part is not available. I recently searched the internet and found that parts for my appliance are indeed available. Too bad I didn't do my homework before contacting this sleazy outfit. I cant believe all the negative reviews this company has. This is the second time I've used them and both times I was very satisfied. The second time even more satisfied. I called another company to repair a Viking Wall oven. He diagnosed it as a faulty control panel and the repair would be $1495. I was ready to do it but the fiancé didn't trust this guy. Glad I listened to her. I called appliance medic and after a couple of questions looked at the oven and turned a switch marked timed or manual to the manual setting. After the repair tech visited to take a look at my poorly functioning Samsung refrigerator (tip: don't buy a Samsung refrigerator), he recommend I defrost my refrigerator and see what happens when I plugged it back in. I did that, and the fridge never got cooler than 47 degrees. I paid him with the assurance that the service fee would be credited towards whatever work, if any, needed to be done on the follow up visit. When I called to get him to come back, Appliance Medic stopped returning my calls. With my promise to write a negative review based on my experiences, I finally got an appointment, days later. The tech texted me at appx 6:45pm - or almost bedtime for our children - the promised day to check if we still wanted him to come out. What a terrible experience! There are plenty of honest, trustworthy repair services in the area but Appliance Medic is not one of them and they should be avoided.
