I went to ST's website and filled out the application, where you also paste your resume. No one contacted me for a couple of days so I called them. They were very nice on the phone and arranged an interview for me a couple days later. Oddly, she wanted me to email my resume to her separately. That was fine. She did tell me on the phone that the registration process takes a couple of hours. Man, she wasn't kidding! They make you take this silly personality test based mainly around your views of illegal drugs and drug testing as well as attitudes on violence and honesty. Then you have to take a MS Word test, an Excel test, and a typing test. Then they give you a super brief interview. After asking me some basic interview questions she says that they are "working to generate more opportunities" but the most available position they have right now is doing outgoing calls for the Muscular Dystrophy Association." I don't mean to be snooty but I didn't register with a temp agency to be a telemarketer. The whole time I was taking my tests I could hear their sales guy in the office cold calling companies to try to find jobs for their agency. At the end of my interview I asked the woman in a low voice if there was actually any work available through their agency. She said it is extremely slow right now but they are working on it. So basically, no. Look, the economy is in the toilet. It's not necessarily their fault they don't have any work. (BTW I will update this review if they do find me work.) What I object to is their posting many positions on Career Builder that flat out don't exist. I think that's really dishonest.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I applied to a job through the Parker Staffing website, but…read morewithin days I received a form email to schedule a Skype interview with their recruiter, Kelly. While I communicated with a few others at the agency, Kelly was who I communicated with most often. The interview I had with her was great. It was laid back but still a typical job interview, and then she provided me with feedback to improve some of my answers and tips for revising my resume. I sent her my updated resume, and she kept me on her radar for jobs that might be a good fit for me based on our conversation. When I went in to fill out some paperwork, she sat down with me for about 10-15 minutes to talk with me about an interview I had just been on and about salary negotiation tips--all for a job that wasn't through them. I really appreciated that she genuinely wanted to help me, and not just for a commission they'd get for placing a candidate. In the beginning, she called me about once a week for updates on how the interview process was going for me (for jobs I was applying to outside of them) and to run job openings by me to see if I was interested. It slowed down after the first initial weeks, but I didn't feel forgotten about. I could see that their staff was checking my LinkedIn profile and they called me once to see if I wanted to fill a last-minute need in my neighborhood just for some extra cash. I only went on one job interview set up through them, and I originally didn't really feel that excited about it or that it was a great match for me, but figured I should go for the experience. I honestly felt underqualified for the job, but felt more confident after the interview even though I didn't get the job. It was nice to have that push out of my comfort zone because it motivated me to continue applying to jobs I might not have considered before. After I went on this interview was when I started hearing from them less, and I wondered if it was because they got poor feedback about me from the employer, but I think that was my insecurity creeping in. I remembered that during my first meeting with Kelly she told me that I might not hear from them for weeks at a time because what I was most interested in, a direct-hire opportunity, was what was least commonly available and they weren't just trying to get me just any job. Even though they didn't place me in a position, I'm glad I worked with them because it was free interview and resume help and a new perspective on how my skills might translate into different positions. If I find myself laid off and in need of help and motivation to find a new career, I'll definitely reach out to them again.
