His store is open to around 5 on most days. The pizza is awesome. I would like to think its the best in town. Its deffently different then the rest. Its more professional in quality. Riverside has good pizza too. Its just down the street. They are compareable but different. The only other place in town that offers pizza is the corner market and lets just not talk about that mess. You've heard of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles but how about Hollywood and Vine in Silverwood…read more For that matter have you heard of Silverwood, Michigan? Well in search of the Northern Lights DJ and I headed north in the Thumb. Now there's not a lot to do in the middle of the Thumb on a Friday night so Northern Light hunting fit the bill. We did see some but the clouds put a damper on that. So we decided to head home-ish and dead reconed our way back. Now we were in the middle of nowhere as far as I'm concerned so when I started thinking things looked familiar I couldn't believe it. Silverwood Michigan is a blink of a town and former railroad stop but now just a few buildings. But of all things I bought my boat off a guy in Silverwood! And I recognized his house!! Well the largest building in greater Silverwood is an old brick structure that beckoned us with honkey tonk beer signs and a clutch of cars out front. Taa daa, Hollywood and Vine. Although I didn't see any sign. It is the local haunt for the, well locals and based on the crowd the entire "town" was there. Everyone knows one another, nach, and were having a good old time when DJ and I went in. This place screams roadhouse. Old bar, hand written signs, pool table and evidently food although we didn't eat and I didn't see anyone eating. We ordered a mixed drink and a CAN of beer and I think it was $8. B'ham this ain't. The bartender who knew the guy I bought my boat off of, of course was friendly as were the patrons. One old timer struck up a conversation with us about venison, again not Birmingham folks, and helped us pass the time. Oh and the drop ceiling tiles had advertisements on the tiles for local businesses! We didn't stay long. It was one and run for us so the food review will come later as will the pics. Certainly worth the trip. Maybe make it part of a Thumb bar crawl! The 5th star will have to wait for the food, stay tuned. Sooo.... We stayed 4 days 3 nights for around $375 total PROS : Fairly spacious 1 Bedroom cottage Kitchenette came fully equipped Doors on cottage locked securely Enclosed Porch Super family friendly with lots of outside activities for kids Movie night 2 days a week Walmart and Gas station right up the street Each cottage had a bbq grill (dirty) but they all had one CONS : Super narrow when driving down hill to unload your things into the cottage so turning around can be challenging (especially with the "no driving on grass" signs. You can unload but you have to park in the lot at the top of the hill and walk back down Wifi was not working well so your basically without service most of the time Lots of BEES The bed was really uncomfortable so we slept on the futon in the living room The heat didn't really work so at night and I'm the early morning it would be freezing. Like throw a hoodie on cold They tell you to bring your own sheets and towels But the blanket that's offered is mad thin so I wish I would of brought my own A few of the dishes were dirty and had to be rewashed before use The tv in my auntie cottage couldn't have been bigger then 20inch (my desktop monitor is bigger) mines was a little bigger then hers which she didn't understand because we paid the same amount for our separate cottages Bonfire pit was right off the water, so it was super windy, cold, and water kept splashing us while we were trying to get it lit The furniture in the cabins was pretty outdated not "rustic" ..outdated The cottages need face lifts which is obvious the paint in my bedroom what bubbling and separating from the walls The shower heads OMG the shower heads was just to much for me.. like if I needed to bring my shower head from home as well they could of just said that! lol but no seriously I was so sad taking a "quick" shower it gave me jail flashbacks! I could of came off another star if it wasn't like that. We didn't get much beach time in because it was pretty windy our entire stay and the current in the water was not playing lol Soooo our 3rd day was everyone's else's last day at the cottage so we end up getting our last day all to ourselves, and is being the nosey individuals that we are after they cleaned the rooms we asked if we could check out the other cottages, when I tell you I was sick that 2 of the other ones had real shower heads and better TVs we deemed 1,7,11 the best cottages to stay in (they have 11 total) We stayed in 4 and 6. The actual beach is a few minutes up the road and it's much more space with sand and the water was more calm to let the kids play in I believe it's called Lakeport state park Overall, would I go back? Maybe .. I wouldn't jump on the opportunity I would also only stay in one of those 3 cottages for a better experience.

Kurt was excellent from the beginning. Being a college student in my last semester of school with…read morea fiance 3,000 miles away in another country's army I was a bit overwhelmed with all I had to do. When I spoke to Kurt for the first time I was instantly comfortable and felt as if I had a friend that I could rely on. The day of the wedding Kurt showed up early and set up microphones and a sound system so my mom and grandmother could sing during the service. Throughout the night things went smoothly and he checked in with us constantly. He had every person in the room up dancing and having a good time. We received many compliments on his work throughout the night and since the wedding have had so many people tell us that it was the first really fun family wedding they had been to in years (and my family is picky, let me tell you). Kurt is also a very economical person, and in our opinion (student with plenty of loans, and military income) he was extremely well priced and interested in the quality of his product above and beyond others that we spoke to who wanted more for less time. Kurt also helped us to connect with our tuxedo shop and our videographer and photographer. He has tons of connections and I wouldn't trade our experience with Kurt for anything. I'm already recommending him to friends who are getting married.
