They were so kind to upgrade us so we could have a better view of Skye! The hotel itself has a great view for sunsets and very cozy rooms. Definitely recommend for anyone visiting Mallaig!

Nearby you will find a COOP where you can buy food supplies, but note that there are no other shops. If you are travelling without a car I would suggest you find accommodation nearer the town centre. The host and his wife are very nice and accommodating. The B&B offers 2 bedrooms: 1 single and 1 double/twin. In your bedroom you will find clean towels, a small TV, clean carpet and sheets, a wash basin, coffee and tea facilities. You are handed a key to the main door and room and can come and go when you like. Breakfast is served plenty and you can expect the full English breakfast or anything you order the night before. Just fill in the sheet, which is left in your room and request what you want for breakfast. This is a very nice and efficient idea. Why only 3*? Unfortunately you need to share the toilet and bathroom with other guests, you might not know. Also, the walls appear to be very thin and you can hear people talking downstairs or in the other room. Still, its a nice place to stay if you have a car and and do not mind sharing the bathroom.

The hosts were very helpful especially John who cooked us a great full English breakfast. The bathroom was shared with another room but this did not bother us as the place was very clean and tidy and the bathroom spotless. The place is about a mile from the local town of Portree and the setting is very beautiful. only took us about 15 minutes walk into the centre when going out one evening for food. By car it's only a couple of minutes. like I said we were impressed by how clean the place was and there were some great maps and local guide books which we could borrow. On the whole we enjoyed our stay very much and I'm going to give it a 4 :-) xx Kata

My husband and I stayed in the Sun Room a couple of nights while on our honeymoon and just loved it :) Room was comfortable and clean, ensuite bathroom had a nice waterfall showerhead and a towel warming rack, bed was comfy and warm (with an electric blanket!). When we checked in and also in the afternoon we we came back the next day there was a delicious vegan cake waiting for us! The chocolate mocha one was positively divine :) They also serve eggs from their own ducks and chickens for those who want them for breakfast, and the ducks and chickens freely roam the property and are friendly. They also have a dog (Fergus) and we think an outdoor cat. It is a really lovely property, and the couple who own it also operate a bike rental service. They seem to operate in an environmentally friendly manner as well! If we're ever looking for somewhere to stay on Skye again, we'll definitely be looking here first! :)

I am so pleased we did and I am so pleased that we decided to "glamp" it up a wee bit! The Shulista Wigwams are a new development, run by Adam and Sally Williams. They put a few on their land and have been having a success of it ever since. They really deserve it. The welcome we got was warm and friendly, nothing was too much bother and the chat was great. Situated at the very top of Skye, Shulista is a staggeringly beautiful part of the country. We were lucky to have mostly clear weather and the views in the morning were amazing. For those without prior knowledge (of which I was definitely one prior to this) the Wigwams are an arch construction, wood with a simple layout, en suite and cooking facilities in one. I think they were £65 a night and you get a TV and the basic set up to make your stay comfortable. Completely self catered these provide a warm and comfortable base to explore the area. I was impressed by how comfortable they are, we could have easily stayed a lot longer and seen a lot more, or simply sat outside and watched the world go by with some of the local produce called Talisker! We set ourselves up and I spoke to Adam about having a bbq, he provided a full fire pit kit for £5 and we set to work. I can't review my own cooking (5 stars of course) but rather the help and willingness to find anything we wanted made us feel welcome and happy in our small pods! The wigwams are warm and cosy, not luxury compared to hotels but very luxurious compared to tents! This is not camping, this is good living! By a coincidence fans of the Grand Designs program will recognise a house you can see from the Wigwams, as it featured a few years ago and is now a coffee house and art studio. Well worth popping into and grabbing some quality coffee while there. If you want a great getaway break then this is the place for you. Gorgeous countryside, great people, comfortable and peaceful. Ideal!

We were lucky being four people and getting a room for four with an en-suite bathroom. The shower-door was broken and it was heavy glass so it was a bit annoying. It wasn't exceptionally clean but reasonably tidy. The common room was small and cozy. What I found a bit annoying was that the little kitchen gets closed at night (after 10), so that one cannot get a tea or a drink from the fridge even. It also closes at 10 in the morning and you cannot get in until 3 pm. Not a problem if you are having daytrips around the island as we did, but it might be a problem for someone, particularly in emergency situations. I am giving 3 stars to try and be more objective about how the place actually is, but my experience was actually worth 4.
