We had the best stay at the Wigwams in Dornie! We are are two adults with two dogs and we were…read moreworried that it might be a bit cramped - but we needn't worry we had plenty of space - they are so roomy and the dogs loved the surrounding grass area. The Wigwam is well thought out and very comfortable. It has everything you need for a stay (we stayed 5 nights) over Christmas, it was lovely and warm once inside, very very clean and great facilities (Mini Kitchen, Fridge, Kettle, TV, Warm Shower, Wifi). It is so great to make a coffee and sit out the front of the Wigwam and look out over the loch - would love to come back in the summer and use the picnic area and fire pits! Great communication from the very friendly owners and nothing was too much trouble. Dornie is a great place to visit on its own with beautiful views and a lovely little pub but it is also a great place to position yourself for visiting the surrounding areas and Skye for day trips. We will 100% be back!
We stayed 2 days in this wigwam in Dornie Scotland and I was extremely pleased…read more It was my first time in a wigwam and the place was spotless, cozy, and even had a welcome basket with snacks and information about the area. The location was on loch long (a lake) in a good position to see Eilean Donan castle, Kyle of lochlash, and tour the isle of Skye. The town is small but we had dinner out both nights and we were pleased with the food. I will definitely stay at another wigwam in the future. I wish they had wifi.

When it came to recording my band's EP, we just knew we had to get away somewhere special and Skye…read moreticked all the boxes. So we booked our stay at No. 6 Drynoch Cottage on www.islands-and-highlands.co.uk and waited in anticipation! The cost of our stay was pretty reasonable, coming in at just about £500 for four of us for a week. You pay a deposit and then pay the rest by a certain date. We payed online but you can also do so over the phone. - The islands and highlands staff were really friendly and helpful when we phoned to make the initial booking so it's worth giving them a call if you have any concerns or problems as the website is a little simplistic and out-dated. The cottage itself is homely and cosey, with a living room with a fire (now, we're talking!) and other little quirks, like the whisky bottle lamp and a set of decorative birds mid-flight. These smaller things all made the cottage feel like home for the week and it was lovely to sit before the fire after a hard day's work. It's spacious and cosey, with a living room, kitchen, two single rooms and one double. There's a large television and dvd player. (There was a small selection of dvds, so it's worth bringing some of your own.) There's cows in the surrounding fields and even a friendly neighbour kitten and you're surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains! So in terms of location, you've got it good! Unfortunately, there's no wi-fi but, (don't worry, Yelpers!) we all seemed to have good signal on our phones so it wasn't a problem. And when you're somewhere like Skye, internet isn't really a priority because there's so much to do. (We often went through to Portee which is a twenty minute drive away and also took a visit to the Fairy Glen which is beautiful!) When we arrived at the flat there were a few rotten food items in the fridge but it might be the case that the staff who'd cleaned the fridge hadn't read the use-by dates and thought to leave them for the next guests. It was only a pizza and what looked like a pepper. - No biggie! They also leave the key somewhere very obvious for you when you arrive which was a little strange initially but it's so remote that there's no real reason for concern. (Seriously, there are more cows than people!) We took a lot of unnecessary extra baggage like toilet paper, etc but the cottage has everything you'll need for your stay so don't make the same mistake we did! The kitchen has lots of cooking utensils so you're sorted if you plan on cooking in most nights like we did. All in all, No. 6 Drynoch felt completely like home for the week and we really didn't want to leave! It's definitely somewhere we'd stay again and I'd thoroughly recommend it as accommodation in Skye. I miss looking out the window to see cows and, of course, those amazing mountains!
After seeing that Torlinnhe wasn't yet listed with Yelp, I just had to add it myself. My husband…read moreand I recently took a trip to Scotland, with just about 2 days spent up in Fort William and the Western Highlands. We discovered Torlinnhe Guest House through TripAdvisor and just stayed one night, but it was excellent and we can't wait to go back. The guest house is owned by a Andy and Sue, a really sweet English couple who have now been living in Scotland for ~20 years and running this guest house for the last 5. Stepping into the place is like stepping into a kind friend's house. It is clean and homey, with comfortably-decorated rooms and a common room on the first floor for lounging or enjoying a full Scottish breakfast in the mornings. Andy and Sue really go out of their way to make you feel comfortable without being overly friendly or involved in your holiday plans. But if you have questions, they are a wealth of information and can point you in the right direction for exploring the UK's outdoor capitol. We learned quite a bit about the local area from our conversations with them, and Sue even went out of her way to drive us to the look out point to actually see Ben Nevis before our departure (we didn't have a car). We would highly recommend Torlinnhe and found it to be a gem of an accommodation and experience. We also went during low season, so were able to enjoy Fort William in a leisurely way.

Really nice place with clean rooms, comfortable beds and a great breakfast in the morning…read more I stayed in a single, en-suite room and was very happy with the shower pressure and accommodations. There is a mini fridge with water, some snacks and a kettle for tea and coffee; I was even offered fresh milk! The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that they don't accept cards or electronic payment. That's right, cash only! So, keep that in mind and hopefully they catch up to the 21st century in the near future.

I stayed with a large group of tourist guides on a recce to Skye, everyone in the group was impressed and had a good stay. I personally particularly appreciated the breakfast. Although we both got too hot through the night with the heavy blanket. Had the window open the second night which was fine. Room had facilities for tea/coffee etc & even some cookies. Tiny tv. Free wifi in the room which was much appreciated by us. Big bathroom with a shower over bath. Breakfast was great. Option for smoked salmon & scrambled eggs or cooked breakfast. You can also have porridge if you like. There is yoghurt, fruit, juice and cereal if you prefer something lighter in the mornings. Portions are generous so you'll set off with a full belly! Would def stay here again!

Clean, cozy rooms with TV/Wifi, some crackers/cookies and tea & coffee facilities. My room was not ensuite, but I had a private bathroom just down the hall, which was equally as clean and well-stocked as the room itself. Also, the room had its own sink, which I was grateful for. Was only here for one night with the tour, but will gladly stay here again should I return to Ullapool.
