Let start. Out of convenience this was, pretty much, the choice place to eat- with us being from out of town and all. We were sat quickly considering the restaurant was at 20% capacity- Best part of this experience. There were 8 of us. Our orders were taken relatively quickly, so quick in fact (the waitress was actually in such a rush) we had to ask her if we could finish ordering before she left. As quick as the ordering was- that's how LONG it took to cook. 45 mins? And hour maybe? It was a while. Burgers do not take an hour. Fries do not take an hour. Salmon should take 9 mins tops. Plenty of staff, but there is something wrong with the kitchen. When food rolled out : all but two plates were WRONG. That's 25% correct. Talk about YIKES. Waitress blamed the kitchen, kitchen blamed the state. No, really, he came out and he blamed South Carolina for liking food overcooked Shame on you South Carolina with your love for horrifically over cooked food, how dare you force this guy to cook so bad. And it was DRYYYYYYYYYYY. The food was sooo dry. The chicken covered in Alfredo sauce- that was so dry even the Alfredo couldn't save it. Why? because the Alfredo was dry. I'll never ever have to wonder "can Alfredo be dry if it's wet?" Ever again. The answer is yes. And the waitress had no clue what was on each plate, no clue whose burger was who's. We tried sitting inside to the worst server ever who rolled his eyes, we had our food BEFORE even getting a glass of water and he didn't even realize we had no drinks OR utensils. After that, we tried ordering through the app and using carside pickup. Don't bother, they NEVER have came out, we always have to go in to get the order... I have been to basically every Applebees in America besides a few in Vermont and North Dakota.. I'll get to those eventually. But this Applebees overall is the best experience I have had from the franchise hands down. I ate here twice in the day I spent here while visiting the famous Peach Water Tower. The food is immaculate along with every employee I engaged with. They were so attentive and had a constant smile on their faces. Harley was my server and she done a super duper job and is as sweet as a button. The next night I sat at the bar with Stevie who is a stone cold fox with a personality to match it. The locals were also extravagantly nice. The Gaffney SC Applebees belongs on the Mount Rushmore of Applebees. That is all. Periodt! read more

Terrible service. First time in forever that we didn't leave a tip. My sister, mom & I walked in towards the end of the lunch rush, a little before 1 PM. A hostess(?) approached us and asked us to specify our smoking preference, to which we succinctly replied 'NON.' (Seriously, South Carolina - get with the times and ban smoking inside restaurants already!) She went to go wipe off a booth near the bar. Meanwhile, another oblivious employee (who looked less than thrilled to deal with us and had stains all over the front of her shirt) came up to us with menus and attempted to seat us. We pointed to the table that was being cleared off and she sauntered over to it with the menus without a word. We sat down and waited a couple minutes before a more cheerful woman approached our table. She said she would be back in a second to take our drink orders. She came back several minutes later to take our drink orders, but we had more than enough time to decide which meals we wanted, so we put in our food order as well. It took more than 15 minutes and another waitress to get our 3 waters, WITHOUT the lemon that was requested twice. We all ordered pretty simple meals; soups, salads, pastas. It took over 40 minutes to be delivered and at least part of each of our meals were cold. Our table only had two rolls of silverware when the three of us were seated, so my mom asked our waitress for another set. The woman smiled and nodded and then wandered off into the wilderness. After a few minutes, my mom walked over to the hostess area and grabbed a fork & knife herself. We were pretty fed up when we FINALLY got our check, and my mom gave it back to our waitress, along with her credit card. After at least 15 minutes my mom went to the bar to inquire what was taking so long, because she had to get back to work, and the waitress(/bartender?) said that she forgot to swipe it. Then she dropped the card, which fell behind some bar equipment, so we had to wait even longer for the card to be retrieved. It was like our table was in a little invisible bubble. Sometimes our waitress would happen to stumble into it and acknowledge us, but when she left, our existence was completely erased from her memory. I get particularly irked when I have to taste and smell cigarette smoke during my meal, especially after we have been supposedly seated in "NON-smoking." I asked our waitress if our table was really in the appropriate section, and she said yes, but that the bar (only a few feet away) was open to smokers. Well that doesn't make a bit of sense to have a centralized smoking section surrounded by smoke-free tables. But I guess "senseless" doesn't bother people who don't have any sense in the first place. To sum it up, the whole thing took about 90 minutes, when at all other locations I've been to (specifically Spartanburg and Boiling Springs) it takes about 30 with 0 complaints. Like a previous Yelp review has mentioned, the concepts of time and service are apparently warped within these walls. read more

I like Applebee's restaurants, they are usually dependable with good quality food and friendly service. The location here in Gaffney is very hit or miss according to who is working at the time. We've had good meals with good service most of the time...and then we get so-so food or slow service by folks that are not enjoying what they're doing. Makes you wish you had chosen somewhere else to eat. Anybody can have an off day, but management needs to keep an eye on the folks serving and in the kitchen to keep the quality at an acceptable standard all the time. Dirtier than the average Applebee's. Food on the floor, food scraps on our table, uncleared tables with dirty dishes and food all around us. Took 25 minutes to get drinks, 45 minutes for our appetizers and one hour for our meals, which were wrong and undercooked. Felt bad for our server, who was as frustrated as we were with the slow service from the bar and kitchen. Most of these major chain restaurants are pretty similar, and there are several in Gaffney that are much cleaner with better service. I won't go back. This was 2nd time we tried this Applebee's. Last time was awful but we give 2nd chances thinking maybe it was just an off day. But we were wrong! This time the service was almost acceptable, except a table that came in after us- a very large group - kept getting attention why we got none. I ordered onion soup and it was served room temperature. My Caesar salad looked like someone just threw Romain on a plate and with a few croutons. The riblets were were full of bones but no meat. This was their second chance, but there will be no third!!. We would not recommend this unless you were absolutely starving and had no other choice. Just about any other place . I'm not going to disagree with the previous reviews as I could see how it could be awful being that there is only 2 servers in this restaurant during the time I went. The restaurant was empty so it wasn't an issue getting great service. The food was freshly hot and was fresh. The only thing I didn't like was how expensive the meal can become. My wife and I got 2 for $20.00 and the check came back over $30.00. The beverages were over 6 dollars. That's a little much if you ask me. My daughter decided she wanted Applebee's for her birthday dinner. We came around 4 pm on a Sunday and figured we'd beat the crowd before dinner. I should have read reviews before coming here. We got our drinks, ordered apps, was told they were half off, then was told they weren't when she put the order in. Ok. Wasn't a problem. We ordered our food, and what came was not what we ordered. I kept mine because I didn't want the kitchen having to remake two of our waitresses mistakes. It was gross. Ended up sending it back and had her take it off the bill. I didn't order anything else nor did she ask. Waited 20 minutes for them to bring my daughters food back out. By then, my husband ate his whole plate and was sitting in the car. Never refilled our drinks during this wait. When she did bring refills, one cup of Pepsi to refill both mine and my daughters cup and warm unsweetened tea for my husband. No ice left in his previous cup since it's been empty for 25 minutes. When my daughters food finally came out, I asked for drinks to go and a to go box since my daughter (on her birthday) was ready to go. She said she'd bring fresh drinks but didn't. I paid way too much to have that kind of service. Ive never had to speak to a manager before but I will be calling tomorrow.
