Restaurant is under new management and you could tell! Food was excellent, drinks were good and service was phenomenal! Will return!

Yesterday, 5/20/24, my wife and I went to the Applebee's on the west side of Evansville, IN. We arrived before 5:30 and found the restaurant less than 25% occupied. We were greeted quickly, seated and our drink order taken. The waitperson brought our water and took our order for an appetizer and two entrees. We saw her bring food to a couple of tables over the next ten or fifteen minutes after which we never saw or spoke with her again. Having waited for more than 45 minutes without any contact with her or any other waitstaff, we left and went next door to Logan's Roadhouse. We had never been there before and had a wonderful dinner. I can't recommend the Logan's next to the Applebee's enough and will return there soon. Since we are very pro-labor, we have decided, going forward, to boycott Applebee's as a gesture of our support for a group of servers who have apparently gone on strike. Restaurant had only a few patrons. We were waited on by Krista B. We looked over the menu and ordered two different Irresist-A-Bowls® thinking they were $8.99 ea....they took an average amount of time to come from the kitchen, and were served at a good temperature. My dish had rice, my wife's had Penne Pasta. Both were good portions. The issues at this restaurant started when we asked for the bill, and identified ourselves as seniors, and asked for a Senior Discount. The Bill arrived with the bowls costing $11.99 ea, which we questioned and there was no senior discount applied, and we asked why the check didn't reflect $8.99 for the bowls. We were told that the bowls "Start at $8.99", the bowls that we ordered were $11.99. She indicated she would take the check back and have the Senior discount applied....when the bill was presented for the second time, we only had a discount applied to one of the bowls....we questioned this and she took the check back....presenting the check for the third time, we were told by Krista that "This Store does not have a Senior Discount, and that she gave us the military discount on one of the meals. The bill was $24.60. We reluctantly paid the bill with cash giving Krista $25. Krista never returned with the change, when we asked for change, Krista indicated, "She thought it was the Tip". I asked for my change and the bill back, and was told the bill was thrown away... I asked to speak to the manager, if she wasn't able to get our copy of the bill, and she eventually returned with a copy of the bill. Would recommend people avoid this Applebees, due to this experience. read more

Saw a Two for $20 promotion they were running. And they're close. So we go. We're seated and a server comes and takes our order. Here's where things get weird. We get our appetizer. We've got forks but no knives. The food comes out but they're 1/2 right. Fries instead of mashed. We tell the delivering server about the mixup. We also reporting to our actual server. After the burger is already gone the mashed potatoes appear. Restaurants that have the person taking the order divorced from the actual delivery of the food. After listening, we heard server after server reciting the "I'm sorry "mantra. The food was okay but marred by unintentional disorganized bad service. read more

I've been coming to the Applebee's on Evansville's west side for about a year now. Usually, the food is really good! I think the couple of mediocre experiences I've had at this location is due solely to not caring for what I ordered myself. But, I recently had one of their cheeseburgers (I cannot remember the exact menu item name) and it was amazing. The burger gave me the impression that it was made in a gourmet fashion. It was one of the best burgers I've had in a while! The burger was just cooked to perfection. I think the bun used for my burger was really, really fresh and tasty. The bun had the perfect texture. The fries were fresh and the ranch I dipped them in tasted homemade! I will definitely be getting another burger from the Applebee's on Pearl Drive. read more

The service was as slow as molasses. The food just fair. I would never want to eat there again. The manager thought she was doing us a big favor by offering 5 complimentary desserts to the 20 people in our party. In other words they didn't offer the rest of us anything. Tonight was by far THE WORST experience I have EVER had! The wait was ridiculously long! The server (ABBE) rarely checked on us despite our wait. My steak was ordered Medium and came out CHARRED, hard, and well-done accompanied by cold mashed potatoes and too-salty broccoli. . . Overall inedible. To top it off, my sister and I both ordered the steak and they were served without knives. Had our server bothered to check on us after the meals were served, she may have realized we were missing the knives; however, after standing at the bar chatting with customers who weren't hers, she ran to the back where she disappeared for what seemed like an eternity. I had to go to the bar and ask the bartender for our knives. My brother-in-law ordered a beer when we first got there and was never served. Our checks were all wrong! My in-laws were over-charged ... and instead of offering to fix the ticket, she decided to try and explain the overcharge. She billed the wrong tickets to the wrong cards. It was a complete disaster! They can't feel as if they are providing even remotely decent service! Never once did she apologize or offer to get her manager - who by the way was no where to be seen and definitely never checked on us! I have eaten at Applebee's an innumerable amount of times over the past decades that they have provided service to the Tristate. NEVER have I had such an experience as I had tonight. I am so disappointed! I wish I could at least give it a one-star, but I am unable to even do that! 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE I FIND MYSELF NEAR THAT RESTAURANT AGAIN! Online service won't let you place the order, due to a food shortage. In person service is even worse, very rude, I wait 45 minutes for them to come tell me they didn't have all the ingredients to fulfill my order. What a waste of time read more

Ben here many times but it's really gone down hill. Honestly they do not have pepper shakers for any of the tables. Food was very poor and portions were very small. Wife had $19.95 ribeye and said it was terrible. Skip this restaurant and go somewhere else. read more

I have tried Applebee's once before and we decided to try it again. Nope! Still not impressed! Waitress was almost non-existent. We both ordered steak and it was overcooked and didn't have time to ask for another. I asked for green beans at which time she said they were out. No apologies or recommendations, just out! But husband asked how much was it for a salad with his meal. She told him he gets two sides and can substitute one of his sides for a salad. He did. By far the worst experience that I have ever had, took 15 minutes to get a drink, (no order was placed when we received the drink) the server kept disappearing, finally we get our order in, and again our drinks take a while to show up. Now I tried being patient since I have worked in the industry before and know what it's like but this was just TERRIBLE. The food finally shows up and is in a dreadful state, half the order was wrong. I am not sure if this was a bad night or just bad people, I am from out of town and on Saturday if you are understaffed? Something needs to be fixed. I've been getting the same meal from apple for the last couple months, but it was always for pick up and it was delicious. I came to sit down tonight with my girlfriend she got the chicken Alfredo and I got the quesadilla burger. Her food came out very dry and with little to no sauce. We asked for more it took them 10 mins remind you the place wasn't busy. Then my burger comes out sitting in a puddle of juice and the tortilla was soaked. Needless to say this was not a good experience and I will not be coming back to this Applebee's... the bar tender was great though! read more

Yeesh, I hadn't been to an Applebee's in forever and was surprised to pick up their menu and find that it was full of pictures of salads and other 'healthy' food. I'm all for healthy food, but the menu seemed over the top and desperate to me. I went with four other people for lunch, the place wasn't that busy and we were promptly seated. Our server was friendly and competent and I don't have a single complaint about her. With all the health-food fanfare I was a little surprised to find a serious lack of vegetarian options. I wasn't in the mood for a salad - it would have been something ordered sans meat - so I went for a lunch combo consisting for a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich (minus the bacon) and tomato soup. The sandwich was yummy, but they only give you half of one for the combo and I didn't find it filling enough. The soup was tasty too. We each opted for one of the $1.99 or was it $2.99 desert cups. I got key lime - it was okay - but wished I'd gone for the chocolate mouse one. All and all, a good place for a basic, not too expensive meal. read more

I haven't been to an Applebee's in over 5 years. Sadly they still haven't caught on to trends in diet; vegan and vegetarian. All of their soups are chicken based (even the tomato!) and they offer no type of black bean burger or vegetarian friendly sandwich. Almost all restaurants nowadays have at least one veg friendly option. Anyway, as a company wide issue I can't give this location a bad review based on that. Our server was friendly and was comfortable handling our group of 10 just fine. She came around a couple of time for refills. What I did end up eating was pretty good, but the food took a little longer to be served than I was hoping for. Restaurant was clean enough; didn't check out the restroom though. 4/5. read more

We went to Applebee's on Saturday 12/8/12 and it wasn't a good experience. The first thing that happened was one of our glasses was so dirty I find it very, very hard to believe it ever touch a washer. It looked like it came out of the bus person's bin because. I rubbed my finger across the edge of the glass and there was a greasy smear around the entire thing. I didn't catch it the problem--a 10 year old boy did who was getting ready to pour his milk in the glass. When our meal came my steak was very well done to the point of being completely cooked through with no pink in it at all. Big deal--accidents happen. The wait person stopped by (who was very friendly the whole time) and agreed it was well done and had another one put in for me. They left the old meal on my plate so I left the steak alone but had some of the potatoes. It took a long time for a new steak to show up--I'm guessing around 15 minutes but I didn't check my watch. The manager dropped it off with little fanfare. No apologies, just dropped the steak, said "Here you go" and left. A few minutes later the wait person came by to check if things were ok. The check arrived with no adjustments. The wait person was very nice and professional; much more so than the manager. read more

It was fine. It was our Thanksgiving dinner at Applebee's. It was an abnormal Thanksgiving this year, so we didn't have a big meal/get together that day and we needed food. Our server was very friendly. The music was at a nice level until a customer asked them to turn it up and it got too loud. I think they got complaints, because they turned it back down after a song or two. The dollar monthly special drinks are super sweet with very little alcohol, but you get what you pay for. The food was still pretty good. We got the pretzels with cheese for an appetizer. I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The grilled chicken is the same chicken for every meal on the menu that includes grilled chicken. I wished that it came cut into edible pieces, but I had to cut it up myself which just results in a smashed down salad. I got a side of the mac n cheese because it sounded good, but it kinda tasted like potato soup. I think that it was the bacon in it that influenced the taste. Overall, it was average. New Years Eve day, my husband and I decided to try this Applebee's location for a 1pm lunch. No one greeted us and no hostess was on duty. We took two menus that were in a messy pile there at the entrance and headed to a high top table in the bar area. There weren't many other diners in the restaurant. One bartender was at the bar and no servers appeared. We looked over the entire menu, still no servers came to our table, although 2 had come out of the kitchen area, made brief eye contact, but returned to the kitchen area, never to appear again. No one offered us drinks. No one offered to take our meal orders. After 10-15 minutes of being ignored, we left. No one noticed. Quite a way to celebrate New Years! Tried car side to go for the first time over lunch break. Not only did they not bring it out, it wasn't even ready at time it was ordered for....won't do this again. Took 10 min longer than planned and When I got to the car I realized that the food container had opened in the bag. I'm seriously lucky all my food and fall out. Went to Applebee's on 8/21/2014 for the delicious crosscut ribs that they were advertising on TV. Bad, sad, experience. Had to literally sit & pick each bite of meat off of the bone. Unfortunately, I missed one & it broke off part of my back molar that had a filling in it. This was on a Thursday night. Try finding a dentist Fri., Sat., & Sun. I got into my dentist finally on Tuesday morning. She took out what was left of the old filling & now a root canal is needed. This visit was $78.00 but with a crown it will bill $1205. Our waiter was fine, wasn't his fault for our bad experience. My boyfriend and I sat down and were asked for drinks and appetizers in a timely manner, but waited almost an hour for a 6oz steak and chicken platter- also forgot one of the sides with the steak. There was also a group of college students next to us, who weren't a problem, but the manager was being very obnoxious in taking their orders for drinks. He was treating them like they have never ordered before. On the way out, we saw a waiter drop a silver wear set on the ground and then proceeded to place it on a table for customers to use. Let me just tell you about Applebee's on the Westside went there today got in there about a little bit after they opened and ordered a wonton tacos in the mac & cheese with pepper chicken honey pepper chicken strips and boy was it wonderful but there was a lot of energy in this place thanks to a server name Adam he was you know font and talking to everybody and run around with A lot of energy so I suggest the next time you people trying to think of a place to go I suggest you try that Applebee's over on the west side of Evansville it's definitely a good place to go they got good food and the staff is excellent I said at the bar the girl name Bobby waited on me and she did a fabulous job as well you know was quick on the ball and when I first got there there was a lot of people because they just open but it you know started filling up fast and she still was on the ball so so definitely I give them a big huge kudos good job read more

I try to avoid chain restaurants to the best of my ability, however I recently crossed paths with Applebees for the first time in at least a couple of years. I was honestly blown away by the quality of food. It was great! The brunch burger....shocked! Applebees has an amazing burger and what should have been an average meal, over cooked and served the exact same way as every other mediocre burger, this one goes into the special category..... it was even cooked as I asked, medium. I wouldn't suggest this location unless you want to feel as if you are eating outdoors. We left a majority of our food because we had to stop eating multiple times to kill ants that were either crawling on the table or us. Not to mention the mosquitos flying around as well. read more

Logan's, next door, closes at 10:00 so this is the only game in walking distance of the hotel. Not very busy at 10:30 on a Monday, in a college town, after a holiday weekend, as expected. What I didn't expect was ordering a double shot of Dewars (at the bartender's suggestion), having the bottle run out and having Ethan, the bartender, try to sneak in the second shot as J & B, looking over his shoulder and thinking I wouldn't see/notice.
