We decided to give this Applebee's another shot (even though we haven't had the best luck at this location) because my kids love their chicken tenders--and I was really craving a solid burger. Unfortunately, this was another disappointing takeout experience. First thing: I don't recommend ordering through their website. There's no place to add special requests (condiments, extra toppings, etc.), which is a big deal when you're ordering burgers. Ordering through DoorDash was also a no-go because the pricing was way higher (I'm not paying around $20 for a basic burger). If you're set on getting food from here, I'd honestly recommend calling the restaurant directly so you can confirm details and make requests. Here's what we ordered: * Classic bacon cheeseburger (requested pink) with fries * Mushroom Swiss burger (requested pink) with fries * 2 kids chicken tender meals (one with applesauce, one with fries) + apple juice * Triple Chocolate Meltdown * Extra side of fries Total was around $67, which is a lot for takeout--especially when the food misses the mark. Timing was fine on paper: ordered at 3:38, ready time said 3:58. I arrived at 3:55. But even after checking the order before leaving, I didn't realize how bad the temperature issue was until we got home--because somehow the fries were already ice cold right out of the gate. I'm not overly picky with takeout, but cold fries immediately is a rough start. Burgers My wife's Mushroom Swiss looked like it had been cut to check the temperature, which I appreciate in theory--but it was still overcooked. The bottom bun was completely soggy and basically fell apart, so it wasn't even something you could pick up and eat like a burger. She did say the flavor combo was good (mushrooms, Swiss, and sauce), but the patty was dry and the texture just wasn't enjoyable. If you order this, I'd honestly suggest getting the sauce on the side to avoid the bun turning into mush. My Classic Bacon Cheeseburger was also a letdown. I ordered it pink, and it was nowhere close--fully cooked through, dry, and it had that hard seared/crusty exterior that just screams "overdone." I also tried to customize it (no tomato, extra onions, extra pickles). The pickles were an upcharge and you get three pickles... and the "extra" onion (also an upcharge) didn't look extra at all. The one bright spot: the bacon was actually the best part--nice smoky flavor and tasted fresh. Kids Meals The chicken tenders are what they are--standard pre-made tenders--but my kids genuinely enjoy them, so that part is fine. What wasn't fine: their meals were ice cold too, and the portion of fries in the kids meal was honestly tiny. Thank goodness I ordered an extra side of fries to share. Also, we found out they were out of apple juice, so we switched to chocolate milk (the little bottles). Not the end of the world, but it's another small thing that adds up when everything else is already off. Dessert The Triple Chocolate Meltdown was the highlight. My wife really liked it, and I did appreciate that the ice cream came in a separate container (smart for takeout). That said, it was a small scoop for the price, so it felt a little overpriced--but at least it tasted good. Overall For the price, this was a miss. I understand takeout isn't going to be perfect, and burgers can continue cooking a bit in transit--but these were overcooked, dry, and not enjoyable, and the cold fries/kids meals were the final straw. When you're paying $17+ per burger, I expect better consistency from a major chain. If you're going here strictly because your kids love the tenders, I get it--but if you're hoping for a satisfying burger night, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. (Photos included--forgot to snap one of the dessert.) And I forgot to mention, when walking inside to get my food, there was a terrible smell. My wife took me to Applebee's for my birthday for lunch. I found that they had a very good variety of food on the menu. Their alcoholic beverage menu also provided a good and varied selection, both in a good price range. The service was very good. When the dish that I ordered arrived, I was amazed to see the generous portions. But more important was that my food was fresh and it was delicious! And this is not my first visit. I should have posted a review long before now. There was music playing at just the right volume, unlike some places that think blasting music helps you digest your food. But what I found really pleasing was the wonderful variety of the styles of music, all of them soothing, and all of them creating, what was for me, a perfect dining atmosphere. | Why this establishment has been stuck with low ratings and reviews is a complete mystery to me, and very undeserved. Went there around 9 pm (Friday 17 October) restaurant wasn't very busy. Was seated but waitress took 20 minutes to bring water and eventually took our order. The food finally came and that's where it went downhill quickly. My wife ordered oriental chicken salad, which was served with wilted, lettuce and cold chicken. I ordered small steak with fries and potatoes. The other couple ordered boneless chicken, wings, and some type of pasta with chicken. It took us five minutes to get any utensils to eat with, but when they brought the utensils, they were plastic. They said they were so busy and couldn't wash the utensils. Needless to say I was not happy trying to eat a steak with a plastic knife and fork. Eventually, they brought one set of utensils for me only the rest of the meal. All the other people had to eat with a plastic knife and fork. We complained to the waitress that the salad was unacceptable and the buffalo wings weren't good either she took them then the manager came over to see what was wrong and we explained that it was unacceptable. She asked could she bring something else and we were like no thank you. She said she would adjust the bill and bring it back. That process. Probably took close to 20 minutes. I literally had to go up to the kitchen to say can I get my bill? This has to be the worst Applebee's I have ever eaten in my life. I wouldn't recommend my dog to eat there. Went there for lunch Wednesday . Server was young but good and prompted . We ordered a rum breeze bucket and ask if we can keep the bucket she said yes and two sodas . We got appraisers mozzarella cheese sticks and onion soup . The regular drink came out first. Then mozzarella sticks then the onion soup . I ask the server where are rum buckets was we had been waiting 15 min for . She came back with the wrong drink . Took another 5 minutes to make a new one . The onion soup was cold and after the rum bucket was finished we could not keep the bucket. Hello everyone! I've tried to give Applebees another chance after so many years have past since I've been to this franchise. Unfortunately my taste buds have changed many years back and I thought my food was just ok. My broccoli was wayyy to salty and over cooked with no nutrient value. Ribs were ok and $3 margarita again was wayyy to sweet, had to order a tequila shots to mix with it to be an enjoyable adult drink. Recently went to Applebees and had a very bad experience. The service was very slow and my wife ended up with food poisoning barely making it to the restroom. Manager shifted away from their responsibility in the matter. She thought maybe a stomach flu but it happened so quickly there was no way that was the issue. Went to Applebee's last night with my husband, I got the whiskey bacon burger and my husband got the Mac and cheese. Problem 1- ordered my burger medium with no other changes. Burger came out well done(not that big of a deal) however, the fried onions and the fries tasted extremely burnt. Problem 2- husband ordered the Mac and cheese which comes with tenders on top. No problem except it was like they dumped the tenders sauce all over the Mac and cheese. Problem 3- the building filthy, from dust on all the light fixtures and ceiling tiles to vents. Obvious water damage above the bar. The service was subpar however, there was 3 servers in the bar and one (male) spent about 45 minutes sitting and hitting on a person at the bar. read more

I waited at the front for 5 minutes before anyone seated me. I have been seated been seated for an additional 7 minutes and no one has come to the table. Slow, inefficient and quite disappointing. Meanwhile this is the waitstaff except one server. Finally went to bar and asked for manager. Absolutely terrible customer service! The silverware was dirty- whenever we asked for new ones it took forever the manager was in no hurry at all. The table behind us was also served the same dirty silverware and complained as well. I ordered the 1/2 price boneless wings that were cold and bf ordered steak that was beyond well done, he ordered medium. It took an hour for the food, 30 mins to track down someone to discuss the issues. Manager did not care at all. She took the steak back and had his silverware on it. Came back with a new plate 30 mins later and ran off before he could ask for another knife and fork. We saw the waitress maybe twice. The place was not busy so it couldn't have been because of that. This restaurant is run by thieves do not come here. I placed an order online only to be told 30 minutes later they were out of everything and couldn't process my order. I asked for them to process a refund and the girl on the phone told me she would have a manager process it that minute. Two days later I noticed that the transaction was not refunded to my account and had posted. I called again and the manager on the phone said there was no record of my transaction and that she would have to do some more research and give me a call back. She never gave me a call back. I had to reach out two days later and spoke to another manager Nichole Allen who told me she never got the message. it sounded like the same person I already spoke with. Best experience yet at applebees in danville va. Me and my wife came in for lunch Monday and got steak and they were delicious. Krystle was our server and was outstanding, very efficient, attentive and carried on a conversation with us about football cause she saw we had on jerseys. I've tried to give my hometown Applebees a chance time and time again only to be disappointed like I was today. Customer service at this location is TRASH. They don't know how to communicate effectively AT ALL. I placed a curbside pickup order. After waiting in the car for over ten minutes I decided to go in and request my order. The person who took my name disappeared without returning. Another person came and asked what I ordered in a brisk and rude tone. I told him the many items ordered and he stuffed some napkins in a bag and handed it off. After checking my order I was missing the main entree item to one. It seemed to tick him off more to correct the problem. I just honestly felt the service and courtesy could've been three times better. I'm not looking to have my anus licked but geez. UPDATE: I came to visit this Applebee's again for the first time in awhile with my friend who works in the area. We were seated quickly, but were seen by a waiter and two waitresses who all asked the same question. It took approximately 15 minutes to get our drinks and by the time we received our drinks, we were ready to order. My friend and I got the 2 for $20. She ordered chicken tenders and fries while I ordered a healthier option. She stated that her tenders were over cooked and it looked like it. Her fries were soggy and it looked like it as well. Our drinks were beyond empty by the time the food got to our table but didn't acknowledge the empty glasses. We had to wait for a waitress to walk by to ask for our drinks to be refilled. I understand Applebee's is not going to be the best. But, a restaurant needs to have exceptional customer service and waiters/waitresses that pay attention. When we go to Applebees we're not looking for high end, exquisite food, we're looking for something fast, cheap, and decent. The fact the waitresses/waiters were not at all attentive and the food wasn't even decent was definitely another reason why my rating didn't change. If Applebee's in Greensboro, Charlotte, and other areas can have better service and food that is actually edible then I don't see why this one can't. read more

Overview: Applebees is what it is. Guess the complainers below just came on an off night. As out-of-towners, I was pleased to find a familiar feel. Food: Ordered the new Mix & Match platter with: sweet potato fries, not too shabby, good with the orange sauce; sirachia shrimp, the beau's favorite, just the right spice and not too wet; wonton tacos, a bit messy, but that makes them even better, not a slaw person, but loved it on the tacos; brisket sliders, meh, maybe better without the bread, pineapple was a nice addition; churro smores, sweet and simple, dip and enjoy. Oh and the mango tea was on point and always full! Yum. Experience: Kudos to the hostess! Lauren sat us in a booth per our preference and def kept an eye on us. When our server hadn't showed just yet she came to apologize and took our drink orders. Turns out, the waitress, Taiwan (love the name!) was helping on the line, later saw her bussing & cleaning - kudos to her, too! Despite her many tasks, she was attentive and friendly. While the food at this Applebee's has always been consistent to me; the dated and shabby decor and overall unkempt condition of the Dining room during my last few visits leaves this location as one of my last considerations when dining out in Danville and not even in the discussion for dates or business meals. I don't know if they need better management but for a corporate owned brand there is nobody watching over this place. At least 10-15 minutes to get drinks and don't order off menu from the bar; basic mixers like butters or olives are probably going to be out of stock...as is Diet Pepsi that my wife just ordered. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. Party of 7 on a Saturday nite in a strange town so we expected a wait time, host said 30 minutes so we expected more like 40. The vestibule was getting packed with incoming guests. The host called us up for 2 false alarms because he couldn't get it past his ears that there were 7 of us. Sure enough after 45 minutes and 4 "I'm sorrys" he was leading us through the dining room with a floor littered in food bits and used napkins, numerous empty tables sat covered with food and dishes. Our table was situated to make entry and exit impossible, those on one side had their backs against a wall when their knees were well under the table, those on the other side were constantly being bumped by numerous staff members passing behind when their chests were against the table. After 5 minutes a harried young lady introduced herself as our server and just as quickly announced that we would be moving to another table, we hoped to better accommodations. Wrong. Our destination was 2 identically situated tables hastily cleared and shoved together about 20 feet away. Our tables were being combined with 3 others in the opposite direction to seat a party of 14 that had trickled in AFTER we checked in. A waitress stood ready with pen in hand as they were seated while our server literally disappeared after helping move those tables. After 25 more minutes of conversation and surveying the room for a server we were beyond thirsty and had memorized the menus. At this point we were one hour and 20 minutes in and patience had evaporated, we got up to leave just as the host guided in yet another group. He got an earful in front of his new crowd, we got another "I'm sorry". One of our party found the manager on the way out and offered a play by play of our evening, he was mute except for another "I'm sorry". Yep, now we're sorry too, sorry we saw their sign from the street. I'm not going to play the race card here, but the manager and 99% of the staff were taking care of their kinda people ya know. They didn't even put sauce on my wife's riblets! Thry said they were out of the sauce she wanted so they just sent it out without any. No one asked if a different sauce would be ok. Hostess sat us rather quickly, but took a bit to get a server. Finally our server appeared and quickly informed us that it was not her section, but she was doing it as a favor for her boss. Once she took our order, we never saw her again. That's because she was too busy flirting with the guys drinking at the bar. We even had to ask the hostess for drink refills.
