Background: I have to travel around the area for work (sports writing, local newspaper). Often I end up finishing work late at night and want a snack; sometimes need to write up a story....and more often than I care, I end up at the closest Mickie Ds. So to find someplace like this is extra special. This place had very friendly staff, even though it seemed pretty busy (Friday night around 10 pm-- prime time for a bar. Good, extensive menu, althouguh I just tried one app, which came out quick and was very good. Decent selection of craft beers on draft. Nice music from a solo musician-- not too loud or obnoxious (I will say, it's a shame folks don't CLAP more when a guy is doing pretty decent live music!). You have to go through this area to know how rare it is to find such a gem open late on a Friday night, without being a loud booze-only bar.

While they're mostly known for drinks and food, they occasionally host live music. And then there's the name confusion: Bubba's Brews is now known as Boathouse at 33, but I feel like the Bubba's name is going to stick around a while for locals... as "Boathouse at 33" doesn't roll off the tongue quite the same way. Now let's get to the food severed at Bubba's, which is more like pub or bar food--wings, nachos, tacos, etc. I recommend the wings, fried catfish tacos, and nachos. All of these are great. On the weekends, Bubba's serves pit-smoked meats like brisket and grilled wings (these are different than the fried wing which are on their menu every day). The day I tried the brisket, it was just okay (it just needed to be smoked a bit more so it would be more tender). But I know briskets can be hard to perfect, so maybe it was just an off day. I am, however, eager to try the smoked wings, but it seems I keep visiting on the days they don't have them. As for the staff at Bubba's, they are all fantastic! Everyone is attentive and super nice! So much decor, and not a speck of dust or cobwebs on any of it. Looked like a victorian era mansion inside the dining room they took us to. It was all autumnal decor, so beautiful! The place is probably an old department store or something with many different rooms, each with its own decor theme; lots of space for special events. Some families were seated in private rooms. I walked through several of the other rooms and they were all decorated for different holidays, Christmas & Halloween mostly. Although those rooms had a lot of kitschy decor, they were also very beautiful. There were giant carved fireplace mantles, grand pianos, a hall of mirrors, and gorgeous carved wood antique furnishings everywhere. We were coming from a family reunion & a trip to Cumberland Falls, so I feared we would be underdressed (and felt we were a bit), but the staff was very welcoming and we had no problem being seated. He liked his burger, and ate most of it. My chicken piccata was excellent! The generously sized two pieces of chicken were a bit thicker than usual for piccata, but they were cooked perfectly. Crispy exterior, and very tender and flavorful on the inside. The sauce was a bit thicker than normal piccata sauce but man was it good, and they did not skimp on the capers, which is my favorite part of the dish! It was served over a delicious rice blend which went so well with the sauce and served as a nice foil to the rich saltiness of the chicken. I ate way more of it than I even intended to and was stuffed. As much as we ate for dinner, unbelievably, we forced room for dessert and got an amazingly good chocolate cream cake of some sort which had thick layers of whipped filling between layers of chocolate cake, all topped with ganache. It was like a homemade hostess ding-dong, except way more moist. We ate most of it, despite our full bellies. My husband also raved about this cake, which is unusual because he usually hates things with whipped fillings, but he loved the cake & we had it eaten in no time. Finally, when it was time to pay the bill, it was actually a lot more reasonable than many other places that aren't half as good. Server did a great job. We were super happy with our dinner experience, and both of us agreed that Seasons is a major blessing for downtown Corbin. We will definitely stop in again without hesitation. We walked off our meal by meandering around town in the beautiful evening weather, ending up a block or two away at the pinball museum, so we had a fun date night, all in downtown Corbin!
