Horrible service! My steak was brunt and not good. It also took forever. Then they were rude after all of it.

Applebees is obviously a chain but it really feels like a hometown family restaurant. I love how they have sports photos on the walls from when I was in high school. You can always count on a nice meal here. The chicken and burgers are both really good but they won't blow you away. They could use some more vegetarian/vegan options. Applebees needs to revisit their ribs. Ribs should not be cooked with some Asian fusion sweet-hot sauce; just use plain ol BBQ sauce. Ribs should fall off the bone without a lot of gnashing and gnawing. Other than that, our meal was okay but do yourself a favor and skip the ribs. read more

Late night stop on our road trip. It looked like a good idea behind all others fast foods on plaza. I am not a fan but it was my only choice. We were seated right away and our server was really nice. She was more than helpful with menu options. We ordered tortilla soup and loaded potato. It came out fast but I returned tortill chicken soup bc it was everything but the soup. More like a mashed stew but they exchanged it. My order was without tortilla sticks and it was ok. We continue with grilled chicken ceaser salad and I liked it. I mean, I enjoyed the moment. My husband had some chicken fiesta lime something like that and for me it was very salty and with a lot of seasoning. Overall experience was good. And three stars is because of cute and polite server girl with Hungarian heritage. read more

Great staff, food, cleanliness. I really enjoyed my meal. It was my 21st birthday treat. They gave me a complimentary sundae, which was amazing! I ordered a strawberry margarita, got a little tipsy; but it was so good! They still require masks inside which sucks, but I mean what are you gonna do. I've been there 3 times and everytime I got my food it was cold. There was one time I came in and ordered the craft Mac n Cheese and it was frozen completely on the bottom on the bowl, the second time they messed my order completely up and just today 06/16/22 I came and ordered the four cheese Mac and cheese and the plate was hot the the noodles were super cold. The waiter told us that the chef would make a whole new batch of the Mac and cheese and she came back in less then 5 minutes with 2 new plates of the Mac and cheese... i don't know if I'm wrong but it should take longer then 5 minutes to re cook everything. When we got the new plates it still wasn't hot like food should be it was only warm and did not taste good at all. They need to stop letting chef mike cook aka the microwave. read more

My daughter and I were coming in to Iowa to visit her father/ my husband as my husband was just transferred for work and my children and I are still out of state as we are waiting to get a house we love! The host was awesome, greeted us right away and sat us. We waited for almost 15 minutes before the server finally came up to us and told us they just got super slammed and it would be a while before she could serve us. Um the whole establishment was maybe 1/3 full and there were a bunch of staff just standing around and talking to each other. I noticed one couple in the bar area waiting to pay and standing up with their card and tab in hand. The server told them to hold on and they will take their payment...we were sat in an area where it was a row of booths. We were the third one in as the first two were occupied. Both of those other booths were complaining about their service and how it was taking way too long to get their orders in. I NEVER usually complain or make a review like this, but I was in the service industry for a number of years. Started as a hostess and I made my way up to a trainer/main bartender. We were NOT to treat our guests this way! If we got overloaded, we would ask a coworker for help! We left and went to BWW and we got sat right away, like here, but our server was right there asking for our drink order! I just had the worst meal I've had in years at Applebees in Burlington, IA. I ordered an appetizer; French Onion Soup. It wasn't baked it was micro waved. It also didn't have onions. The garlic potato's were tasteless because they didn't have garlic. The steak meal was $18.00 for a mediocre piece of rib eye that had little seasoning and was pan fried. What I did get was excuses from the manager that she had no choice in what she received from the company. DO NOT EAT THERE. If they can't do the basics, they don't deserve the customers. How hard is it to get fresh vegetables and meat in the bread basket state of Iowa? Give me a break! Applebees used to be quality food. The food was good. The drinks were good. The service was slow. The atmosphere was terrible. The floor under and beside our table had food and stuff all over. It was gross. Our table was sticky which the waitress said was because of the cleaner they use. The bathrooms were gross. When you order the Wonton Tacos be sure to ask for the cilantro even tho it states on the menu that it comes with it. Be careful with the "free food" that they bring when you ask for a different entree because the cook doesn't know what he or she is doing! Ever seen the movie Waiting? Cassandra the waitress was so rude and and disrespectful she approached me as I was leaving the bathroom to tell me that she makes $4.35 per hour and she's required to pay the host money out of her tips!! First of all she didn't do anything to present my need to tip her! While it may be a kind gesture to tip she was rude as hell she was kind of an ass especially at the end she didn't deserve a tip and it's not a requirement to tip and whether or not I have enough money to tip is not the matter in question the matter in question is how I was approached as I left the restroom after taking a shit to be nagged about a tip I did not give I'm not required to tip and I didn't tip because I didn't get the quality of service I feel deserves a tip I'm writing this and was gonna leave no I'm so angry I'm going back in to verbalize my complaint period!! This has been the single worst Applebee's I've ever eaten at in my entire life. I travel all over the country and this is absolutely horrible. I enter the restaurant and ask a question about their wifi and immediately I'm getting two completely different answers from two separate people. I decide to go ahead and eat there. The waitress arrives with a pretty nasty attitude, which I have discovered pretty much everyone in this state has. I ordered a root beer and open my computer to start working on my paperwork. She came back with a very flat and heavily watered down root beer. I ordered an appetizer (chicken won ton tacos). She continued to stand there and then asked with a nasty tone if I was ready to order, I hadn't even had time to open my menu at this point. I told her that I need a few minutes. She turned and walked away. She eventually comes back with my appetizer that has entirely too much of what ever white sauce they put on them and almost no chicken what so ever. At this point I was debating heavily on just leaving. She takes my order (The sirloin with shrimp, sweet potato fries and macaroni and cheese). She arrives back with this plate that is almost swimming in what ever sauce is on the steak. The steak is complete garbage, I've had better steaks from Walmart. This steak was packed full of gristle and fat. The macaroni was disgusting. Had almost no cheese on it and the sweet potato fries didn't come with any kind of dipping sauce. Once I asked for dipping sauce the waitress bring back this gross white butter stuff. I couldn't even eat anything. I left and had to go home and cook an entire meal. I will NOT be back and I highly recommend that you go somewhere else to eat. read more

I went on my first dinner date here, with 2 beautiful neighbors. The three of us had a good time. The food was good (although I didn't eat much because I was nervous around the girls), and the service was genuine. Received a reasonable bill of $48.60 for three people's dinner. Tonight, the service was ehh. It is a place that I used to visit a lot when I lived here and now when I come home on break I love coming back to this location. But tonight the service was not so good, probs just an off night or new server but she messed up my order. I ordered a Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad and a bowl of French Onion Soup. One the soup didn't come out till after I got my salad as a meal along with everyone else at my table but my salad didn't have any grilled chicken so I'm retrospect I just got a Cesar Salad. I come here for a good basket of chicken tenders and fries. They are always so good and the ranch here is definitely homemade or something because its so good. I dip the chicken and the fries in it. We had a very unpleasant experience today. Our host smacked our 2 year olds hand when she grabbed the crayons on the table and told her she could only have 2 crayons. He later walked past our table and told us we had eaten too much and should probably be done. Our waiter was fine, but slow and must have been on a break or something when we were finally done eating. We had to wait for 15 minutes to get our bill and this was 15 minutes well after all our food was gone. We will not be going back to this location to eat. read more
