One of my last appointments, my husband was running late so I had to bring our 1 year old son with because there was no way I was missing my appointment that I had, had for 2 months. A polite lady said that they had been on vacation and that she would leave a note for them to contact me asap. 6 weeks went by, nothing. Screw them. I went to NUVIA in Roseville and got it done. Reading the reviews, I see this is a pattern for this dental practice. I came in as a new patient for a routine cleaning since I've just moved to the area. I was really excited to establish care here since it's close to me. I also was happy to have a lady doctor. My insurance is kicking in on February 1 so I wasn't open to any extra services quite yet. I just wanted to establish care, get a good exam and above all, a cleaning! I had made my insurance situation clear when I made the appointment and again with the assisting staff. Also, I didn't actually need more X-rays as I have them from my previous dentist, but they insisted. After all that, the dentist gave me a hard sell on 4 quadrant deep cleaning and a new crown (which I did need), but not on that day ... I didn't want to pay out of pocket given my insurance would be kicking in soon. My dentist was visibly upset that I didn't sign the expensive out-of-pocket treatment plan on the spot. She then spent maybe 5 minutes cleaning my teeth. Terrible vibe and a waste of time as I have to now schedule an actual cleaning somewhere else. What a disappointment. I think the dentists must have a sales quota. I will be reporting them to the BBB, the city and various licensing associations.

I mentioned that I had a full set of panoramic x-rays just 7monthas ago, and have had 2 panoramic CTscans in the last 2 months. He said that he discussed it with the dentist (Thorson, the owner of the practice) and she insisted I needed more. I asked to slack with her directly and that was refused. So, I was not allowed to speak with the provider about this and if I refused x-rays, they would not treat me. So I left. I explained that I had full x-rays just 7 mos ago and the ADA has rescinded their guidance to have x-rays every year. Sooo, I feel this place doesn't care about the individual (obviously) and only the money (for insisting on non necessary x-rays) and refusing to talk to me. Really? I should be able to speak directly with the provider. Stay away from this place!

I know what I am talking about. This doctor is serving a neighborhood and clientele seemingly of mostly underpriveleged folks, with exceptions, and has very good pricing and service. He is doing his best, and jumping through heroic regulatory hoops, to create an environment where people are not worried about dentistry from either a comfort or ecnomic standpoint. He is good enough that if he wanted to be rich, he could be doing aesthetic or exlusively pay for service. (Or be doing a less thankless profession of which dentistry is one of the most reviled.) But he would not be doing it where he is or for whom he is. You will have a good experience with his practice. His partners/staff members have clearly been selected as you would expect if you belive me. But you do not have to trust me. Check him out.

He was incredibly rude, impatient, unprofessional, and even gaslighting!!! Nitrous mask was not fitting, he yells at me "in 13 years nobody has ever complained about what you're complaining about." I tired to explain that I wasn't complaining and that I have the exact same problem with N95 masks, they don't fit my nose shape, this is a well documented problem for people with certain nose shapes. He talked over me the entire time I was trying to explain telling me to "calm down, calm down, calm down" when I was already calmly explaining, he just didn't want to listen. Later I told him he bumped my tooth with the drill, he tells me he's recording me, as if I was lying about that! I was extremely offended because I am an honest person and had given him no reason to distrust me, I shrug and say what does that have to do with anything? He tells me "don't try to hit me." because I shrugged! As soon as the tools were out of my mouth I ran out crying. Horrible person and the dental work matches the exact kind of carelessness you would expect from a person like this. In the photos you will see that the Lower right corner of my front left tooth was chipped, both of his feelings were jagged, the wrong color, rough not smooth. Just absolutely garbage work. Now I have to get it fixed for a third time! I can't even smile right now because my smile is hideous thanks to him.

Dr. Molldrem is also extremely friendly, and he is able to quickly perform exams so you don't spend too much time waiting around. The reason I've bumped my review down to 4 stars is that my family has occasionally had issues with miscommunications between the office and insurance companies regarding payment and coverage, leading to some confusion. But otherwise, we've usually had great experiences with Molldrem Family Dentistry!

At first it seemed procedural but it was not long until they started offering expensive services like mouth guards for night botox to stop teeth grinding. It felt like scare sales tactics every time i went in. I eventually got two new crowns after some visits and genuinely thinking they were necessary. Both of them popped out in less than a year. I called the office to see what they could do. They said I would have to pay for it all over again and laughed at me telling me there is no warranty on crowns. This was after the office people talked to Dr. Molldrem and called me back. I already got one redone and have to do the other soon. I have to pay for the crowns twice! UPDATE because I almost forgot about the random $1,000 bill i got after i thought I was all paid up because, for (1) they messed up the insurance calculation on the crowns and for (2) they couldn't figure my insurance out for the teeth cleaning (which I had) that could have been resolved had THEY not waited so long.

They're located right next to Trader Joe's, so that's also a huge bonus!

First of all I had to wait quite awhile to be seen and that used to be pretty rare. They couldn't find my dental and health records including meds I take and they had them. I had seen another dentist 6 months earlier who had sent over their records and Schara Dentistry wanted me to contact the other dentist to get gum measurements so I was all ready to do that (to my surprise) and right before I walked out the door they found them. They also told me I was going to have to pay out of pocket for the cleaning because my insurance only covered the 2 cleanings I had during the year (which is fine) but they were going to let me leave without paying until I mentioned it and then they insisted that I pay immediately. The person who checked me out was very slow and wasted a lot of time and didn't communicate with me so I was just standing there waiting and waiting, wondering what was going on. The new hygienist made me hold the suction hose through the whole cleaning which I've never had to do at any dentist before. They normally just hook it over the edge of your mouth and let it hang -- it was odd. Aside from the standard lecture that I don't brush properly she was fine.

By the time I was referred to Dr. Schara, I was in bad shape (and learned that I don't handle tooth pain very well). From the first time I saw him, and every time since, both him and his entire staff has been wonderful- even though I am sure I am not the easiest patient to deal with. They have always managed to calm my nerves and keep me distracted from "the task at hand." I have never once encountered an unpleasant person in either office. Ashley and Deb both go above and beyond when I'm in the chair and Carmen is super helpful when it comes to questions and appointment scheduling. Truly- I thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
