OMG! So I got an IPad from Amazon back home in the US and I couldn't set it up on my own or through the toll free Apple customer support. I decided take the IPad to an Apple Store in Edmonton at the Southgate mall. The staff was welcoming as soon as we walked in and handed us over to Page for help with the activation of the iPad. First of all, Page was very understanding and so helpful and so knowledgeable and so patient with us Senior Citizens. She definitely knows what she's doing and she is the best! I've been to Apple Stores back in the US but no one has been as helpful and friendly and technically knowledgeable as she is! Thanks, Page for the great service. I went into the south Apple Store awhile back and bought a new phone, everything went great . the next dat I got an alert on my telephone banking app that there was fraudulent charges on my account, I had so many purchases on my card from the Apple Store that they drained my account, 72 small purchases made by someone in the Apple Store , they just kept going until my account was empty . the thing is I was very careful about putting in my pins when anyone was close to me so I'm sure that they were able to get my numbers from the store security cameras.. the bank did refund my money and started an investigation into this, be very careful and don't trust anyone in the store and.change any passwords that may have been compromised during your visit read more

I have been to numerous Apple Stores in numerous cities. Most Apple Store staff members are efficient and courteous, others leave room for improvement, but Edmonton Southgate has to be the worst, poorly-managed Apple Store of all of Apple's corporate-owned locations. Staff and management openly show contempt for their customers, including making them wait up to an hour for a staff member to bless the customer with his or her presence to simply take the customer's money for a straight-forward purchase. It seems to be the corporate attitude at this particular store, which I blame management for. It's quite different at the West Edmonton location or other locations in Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto or at branches I have visited in the US. I suspect there is a top-down arrogance and contempt for their customers at this particular location that infects staff all the way down the line. My most recent visit to the Southgate location was to take my iPad Pro in for a minor repair/cleaning because the contacts in the USB-C port were dirty after frequent use, and my iPad was not charging reliably any more because the electrical charging contacts in the port were oxidised. After waiting for almost an hour despite having an appointment, the "genius" associate (and I use that term advisedly) leisurely sauntered over to help after being in what appeared to be an extended social conversation with one of his colleagues. After plugging in his diagnostic computer into my iPad using my iPad's USB port, he discovered he was unable to take a diagnostic reading. Not surprising, I explained to him, as the USB contact points were dirty and not making the connection! I suggested that the contacts just needed cleaning first. He pronounced that instead, I would need a completely NEW iPad, and adding insult to injury, even told me that my old iPad Pro had NO trade-in value because it was unable to take a charge. He was clearly determined to sell me a brand-new iPad Pro to replace the old one that was barely off my AppleCare extended warranty. I left the store frustrated, and without having being sucked into buying a new iPad, taking my old iPad with me instead. When I got home, I explained to my spouse what it happened. Instead, we simply soaked a Q-Tip in isopropyl alcohol and cleaned the contacts ourselves, despite not having the so-called expertise or equipment of Apple's "Genius Bar experts". The Q-Tip clearly showed the dirt that was on the contact, and after cleaning, the iPad worked perfectly again, as if it came off the factory floor. It has been working perfectly for several months now since that fateful visit. As suspected, it was nothing more than dirty contact points within the USB port. A day after my visit, I received email from the Apple store asking me to review my satisfaction level with my last visit. I retold the entire story, and their survey even gave me the option of asking them to contact personally me about my experience. I naturally welcomed the opportunity to let management know of my unsatisfactory experience at their store, but, as with other unsatisfactory experiences before, NO ONE from either Apple or the location's management ever contacted me, even when requested to do so. This is absolutely consistent with my experience every time in the past when I have asked them to contact me about a problem I encountered at the store. Nobody gives a damn, nobody cares, and the customer is regarded (at the very least) as a nuisance, or (more likely) with total contempt. Sadly, this location is closest to me in a city that only has two Apple stores. Believe me, it's worth the extra distance and time to go somewhere else, if you have that option. Buying an iPhone involved waiting for 20 min, then being told to make an "instant order" online, then finding out that the order was not in fact instant and employees suggesting to cancel it for in-person service after all. Crazy upsale without my confirmation. I have been in Applestore to purchase my new Iphone 14 pro few days ago. The sales only appear at the end for billing with ID 2701083996 was explaining the advantages of the Apple Care plan. I did not response as I am clear I have 60 days for consideration and it is no need for me to buy it today. He just added the monthly Applecare plan without my confirmation and leave. We did not realize it because of the separate billing setting on the payment. I recieved the confirmation email after I leave the mall and the monthly payment fee was charged the other day. I have spend over a week to deal with it and wait for the refund. read more

I have had my trusty little iPhone 6 for many years. There were no issues until recently. The battery had been giving warning that it was only a matter of time before it cratered completely. I must admit I would miss my phone a lot if it were to become inoperable. New phones are priced at a premium. I went to the Apple Store at Southgate Mall to book a genius bar appointment. The wait was about a week. At the appointment, I must say, that my 'Genius' was young, but a little rough around of the edges: lots of negative non-verbal communication. To make a long story short, she advised me to replace the battery (~$35 CDN). From what I understand a battery replacement for an iPhone used to cost ~$90 CDN. I stopped by a few days later to drop off my phone for the repair. The staff that were helping me this day were super up beat and looked like they were enjoying themselves. One and a half hours later my phone was ready, almost as good as new. In the future, if I have a 'Genius' giving me attitude again I will be sure to ask for someone else. read more

I'm not an Apple fanatic, but I'd be lost without my iPhone and inconsolable without my iPad. There is something suspiciously cultish about the whole Apple fanboy/fangirl thing. Remember when Macs were faster because of those old Motorola chips and then suddenly 2.5 times faster still when they switched to those "slow" Intel chips? Regardless, you can't help but stare in wonder at an Apple Store. They're these sleek stainless steel and pine showcases for all those sleek and shiny Apple products. There is always a horde of knowledgeable staff all eager about the product they sell. There is even a "safe zone" where you can approach an out and out geek (oh, they call them "geniuses") safely kept behind a counter at the back. One great feature is you can book a staff member on the store website for a personal shopping experience. You have lots of touch and play time and opportunity with all the gadgets. I also appreciate that they have a lot of accessories and subsidiary gadgets. Apple seems to be more picky about the third party stuff they carry and I feel better about buying something not made by Apple there than at the Best Buy. Buying stuff is a breeze. If you use plastic (I'm not sure who'd use the briefcase full of cash you'd need to buy a Mac), the staff check you out right on the floor with their super iPod Touch devices. You can even have the receipt emailed to you instead of walking out with receipt lettuce. I was at this store on opening day which was also coincidentally iPad launch day. I have a friend who works there, a Apple fanatic from birth (Shout-out to Dave), who advised me that I could come at 08:00 to both see the store open and to pick up an iPad. When I got there, there was a line down both sides of the corridor for iPad. They dropped the curtain and opened the store right at 08:00, and I spent only about 20 minutes in line (chatting with friendly Apple people) when I was assigned my personal shopping aide and handed my iPad of choice. I was out in 30 minutes despite the crowd. I actually felt sorry for the people who camped out. Love Apple products or hate them. These are great stores, really pleasant to be in, learn in and even buy stuff from. read more

Not at all impressed. I love Apple products and have been wanting buy a new Apple laptop to replace my old Toshiba clunker. I wandered around the Southgate Apple Store looking at some laptops on display. I could not get one display model to work, it appeared frozen. I think a group of elementary kids were visiting the store as a group. When they left, I approached an Apple employee, a young man with beard and glasses. He was arranging a table display. I tried to make eye contact but could not. I apologised that I was interrupting his work, and said that I would wait till he was free. He insisted I keep talking to him while he did his work. I said no and walked away. I immediately spoke with another Apple employee, a young woman with a French accent. I told her I could not find the prices of the laptops. She said it was on the screen of each laptop. I sensed she did not want to talk to me. I told her I found it hard to compare models and pricing and asked if I could have a pamphlet that did that for me. She said there was none and again pulled away from our conversation. She told me she could put me "in the queue" if I had more questions. She wasn't busy with any customers, nor was the other agent I spoke to first. I just walked out of the store. I thought ''geez" -- I could end up one day buying a new $1500 Apple cell phone to replace my current Apple phone (got it at Telus) and/or buy a $2500 Apple lap top for a total of $4000 and I feel like no one wants to be bothered talking to me. Maybe it's me! I felt like I was at a speed dating event where you switch partners every few minutes but no one wanted to date me -- male or female! I am not used to dealing with millennial employees and they do seem to act differently toward baby boomer customers like myself. I will write the CEO of Apple and ask him for a pamphlet on Apple products and send him a copy of this review. I know you have to book a tech appointment for problems with Apple products but I did not know you had to request an audience in advance with a sales person. I'm a big Apple fan and always have been even back when they were almost bankrupt and Microsoft saved the day (oh how things have changed). So it is no surprise I love the Apple Store. I was skeptical as to how popular they would be when they first rolled them out but even years later they are packed with people consistently. It is amazing but Apple still has twice the sales per square foot of any other U.S. retailer! I always enjoy popping in just to browse the new computers/phones/watches and play with them a bit. I also like looking through the accessories section to see what doo-dad might be interest to get. Service is usually very consistent with Apple. I have had to bring in a few items for repair in and out of warranty. They deal with things very well and I have always been happy with the service I have received. read more

Great service all round from all staff I encountered during the (minor) saga that was dealing with my non charging iPhone. Everything about getting my phone fixed was a breeze, from setting up the initial appointment, having my phone issues diagnosed and getting the charge port repaired. As I showed up late on a Monday I returned on Friday of the same week to have the repair made, after checking in my phone was fixed in under 30 mins. I had an exceptional experience at the Southgate Mall Apple Store today. I had ordered a new iPad online and was there to pick it up. I was greeted immediately upon entering the store (heck, I don't even think I had entered the store, I was just walking up to the entrance). The rep did whatever she had to do to tell the back that I was there to pick up my order and then we chatted. I had already ordered and paid for the iPad and I didn't have any additional questions about it, so when we chatted, it was about anything and everything OTHER than Apple. It was actually quite lovely. We waited for maybe 5 minutes until the iPad was brought out from the back and we kept chatting. She did all the stuff she needed to do (i.e., send me a receipt, etc.) and we kept chatting. She put the iPad in a bag for me and we kept chatting. In the end I'd guess we talked for over 15 minutes and not once was it about any product in the store (other than her asking me if I needed any help setting up the iPad before I left, which I didn't). It was a really pleasant experience. So many other places would have ruined it by (a) not having the rep wait with me while the item was being brought out from the back, and (b) trying to sell me additional products or accessories. It's experiences like this that make me really appreciate a store and their customer service. For a company that doesn't need to have good customer service because they're almost a monopoly, Apple has always done a good job at keeping their customers happy. While I'm sure it's one of the reasons they justify the higher prices of their products, it does make it worth it. read more

What a disappointment! While I appreciate that my partner's phone was replaced, the service and run-around was unacceptable. I live on the south side but our experience was so negative that I'm willing to go to the West Edmonton Mall location in hope that we do not have to suffer this type of service again. We made an appointment a few days prior as my partner's phone was randomly shutting down. We waited for 20 minutes. The representative that helped us was good but we had to go to our carrier to obtain required information. No problem! The Apple rep told us that we would NOT have to wait upon our return. When we came back to the Apple Store, we let Will, the intake person, know we were back and we asked for our rep. We were advised that he had left for the night. We were only gone for 15 minutes. It sure would have been appreciated if he had said he was leaving. Nope, he was just gone. Will advised that we had to wait for an available rep. We waited for another 15 minutes. There were reps all over, just standing and chatting among each other. This one rep was hanging around on his own. He was standing there the whole time after we had returned. I went back to Will to request an update and he firmly stated "I said, you will have to wait!" Needless to say, it was one thing to have to wait again, it was another for Will to talk to me like I inconvenienced him. We waited another 5 minutes. The rep that was hanging around, ended up helping us. This is honestly not the service I ever expected from the Apple Store. read more

Last month I installed a software update for my Macbook, and suddenly everything stopped working. My word processor software wouldn't work, and even though it said I was connected to the internet (and I know for a fact my wireless router was working just fine) it still said I was offline. Trying to be a freelance writer without internet or a working writing software is pretty difficult, so I popped into the Apple store on a whim, with hopes they might be able to fit me in for an appointment. Victory! I got my Macbook in and let the staff know about the problems I was having. It took a couple of days, but then I got a phone call saying everything was fixed. I went down and the girl working said it was good to go. When I asked if it could connect to the internet I got a, "oh was that the problem?" Yes. yes it was. I can handle the missing Word software, that can always be reinstalled or rebought, but not being able to email articles to my editors is an issue. And no connection. So that was frustrating, but they took the laptop in right away to get fixed, and hopefully this time for real. The next day I got a call that the Macbook was fixed, and the internet was working and connecting. Unfortunately they had to wipe everything clean from the Macbook, but luckily I had all my files (documents, photos, etc) backed up on external flash drive. Even though they didn't actually fix the problem right away, because the issue was a problem with an Apple update (and not a third-party software), and even though it took a few days the fix was free. Hopefully my Macbook will last for several more years without any problems. read more

Oct 11, 2019. I went to Apple to replace my battery on my fully functioning iPhone X. Scott, the Apple rep, tried to set a tone where Apple will refuse to replace the battery unless they repair another part which "impairs the replacement of the battery". When I explained him that the device is fully functioning and I need only the battery replaced and I'm not willing to get charged for other parts, he said that I was disrespectful and tried to intimidate me. He even claimed that Apple has the right to refuse to sell the battery. I found this monopolistic attitude unfair and decided to share my experience with you guys. read more

The single biggest drawback in this location is simply that they are too busy to reasonably handle the traffic flow and ensure everyone gets helped in a timely manner. My girlfriend and I have had to make it quite pointed that we've been waiting for extended periods while others who have arrived later than we have get helped, on multiple occasions. It's made more difficult by they fact they assign people to certain tables, so there's staff not helping someone 6' away because they are at a different station. When I did retail, you helped someone if you were able, regardless of whether it was your expertise or your area, even if just to acknowledge their presence and help find someone to aid them. That being said, in the past six months we've purchased an iPhone 8, iPhone Xr, iPad Mini 5 and two Apple Watches Series 5, and all of them have been purchased from this store. They've handled our trade ins on the two phones and iPad without a hitch, and gave us exactly what the estimator on Apple's Canadian website said that we could expect. The new gear has been stellar, without a problem, and the staff were knowledgeable and professional ... once we got help. There's been a couple of occasions where stock hasn't been in, but that's normal for such a busy store. We've just made a date to come back and they've had everything ready for us. We're Apple friendly, so we get in and out with a minimum of fuss because we know what an Apple ID is, know precisely what we're coming in for, and have our gear ready for trade in before we even walk in. I read through the negative reviews and most of it seems to be the gear itself, which shouldn't impact the store's ratings, or it's mostly a case of people not really being prepared or knowledgeable about their own products. Just checked to see if this location had opened, seeing as there's been a relax on COVID restrictions in our city. It hasn't, and that's too bad. I've got a new iPad Pro in mind and I'm ready to pull the trigger. read more

I recently visited this Apple Store to purchase a Macbook and an iPad. It took quite awhile to get an employee's attention probably because the store is always busy no matter what time of the day you go. Once I did get someone's attention they were very helpful. They were surprised I did my research and enjoyed the conversation from another "techie". The prices are standard Apple prices. However I am happy with my Mac and my wife is enjoying her iPad. The employees are super helpful even with customers all over the store. If I buy another Mac I won't hesitate to stop back. Also I knew this but some don't, you can't actually pay with cash. You have to pay with Credit or Debit which isn't a big deal to me. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU NEED SOMETHING REPAIRED Last Saturday I visited Apple Southgate because some keys stopped working on my MacBook Air. I had to make an appointment for someone to look at the computer and come back in an hour. The young lady who I finally talked with was knowledgeable but misled two critical pieces of information: Whether or not my MacBook would be covered under warranty and whether or not they had parts in stock. It was as if she was telling me what I wanted to hear versus the truth. Diagnosis was fairly quick. Open Notepad, start typing, and watch how the keys respond. The MacBook was checked in with a 3 to 5 day estimate. When I asked about the Labor Day holiday I was assured Apple has techs on duty every day and the holiday wouldn't be cause for delay. When I got home and checked my e-mail there was a note from Apple confirming my MacBook had been submitted for repair. The work order indicated that the device was OUT OF WARRANTY even though I had presented a receipt and was told otherwise. According to Apple I was past the warranty period by 2 days. This means Apple is now balking at me over two freaking days on a one year warranty. After fifteen or so minutes on the phone, the AppleCare rep finally agreed to cover the repair. Then went on to try sell me 2 more years extended warranty. Forget that. Extended warranty offers poor value for money spent. Three days in I ring the store. Not only is the automated phone system a nuisance to deal with, I get routed to a call center not in Canada. It was indicated to me that repair was in progress. "In progress" should mean finished by the next day right? Wrong. "In progress" means that the device is with apple and repair is not complete. Apple does not reveal to clients how far along the repair is. Meaning I had no way to find out if my MacBook was still waiting for a tech, on the bench being repaired, or waiting for parts. I learned later that parts had to be ordered, contrary to what I had been told earlier. In the end the repair took longer than quoted. The MacBook was dropped off at 1330h on a Saturday and not ready until 1730h the following Thursday. This is longer than the 5 days quoted. The keyboard is working again and the MacBook is back on my desk. My next repair will NOT be done by Apple at Southgate. Apple as a company was easier to work with before the Apple stores came about and they relied on independent dealers. My final advice if you're looking to have an Apple product repaired: Call around to the various shops and find out their wait times. If you need your device as part of your business, plan ahead as to what you might do if you have to be without it for a week. Be prepared to stay at Arse Store for well over 2 hours and be prepared to be bounced around from employee to employee, especially when you're already on time for your appointment. This was my first time booking an appointment with them to see if my iPhone had software or hardware issues. I was really ready to give a rating of 1 out of 5 on Yelp with my iPhone 4S when being told that I have to BOOK an APPOINTMENT (again) come back this Sunday to get my iPhone looked at. Um, hello? I'm right here. Does Apple Store always have such terrible customer service?!? When I played music or videos, there's no sound. When I call others, they can hear me but I cannot hear them. A. The layout of the store is confusing. Where do we sign in?? How do we know which one is the Sign-in guy? Where can I sit while I wait? I got shuffled so many times. So, it peeves the Genius guys where I sit. Duly noted. B. The employee who first helped me was not a good listener. Her name starts with an S. I tried to explain the issue with my phone, but she kept cutting me off, insisting it was the speaker module that needs fixing. So, she was being very pushy about the speaker modular fix. $65 + tax. I made sure I read the agreement before signing: it pretty much says you have got 90 days if the repair doesn't work. Fine. 20 minutes later. I had to wait another 8 minutes just to get my phone back. After paying for it, I made sure to check the speaker fix was "IT". Nope. I went back to sign-in guy. I may have thrown a bit of a civil hissyfit, pretty much emphasizing that I should not be punished for the employee's wrong diagnosis of MY iPhone. I even demonstrated how it hasn't been working since yesterday evening. Finally, Darren (sign-in guy) and Cole (who was very accommodating) understood that I just really wanted to pay to get a working phone again. Since my one-year warranty ran out, I had to shell out $199 -- with the adjusted credit of Apple's mistake, so $140+ for a new phone. C. Here's the funny thing: you don't even get to choose the colour of the same GB size of iPhone. D. The quality of service, as I observed, really depends on the person helping you. Darren later told me that speaker modular repairs are very rare at the store. If you really have to go to Apple Store for repairs, I wish my fellow Yelpers great luck! Next time, my phone will be an Android, so I will never have to put an iBag over my head to hide my frustrations at this rectangular device. read more

I cradled it, held it and put it to bed each night, all without a protective case and everything seemed fine. But my luck had to run out at some point. Down the iPhone went and crashed onto the hard floors of Mongoli Express, shattering its back. Sigh. Luckily, the staff at the Apple Store in Southgate are knights in shining armour. I was booked in the next day for an appointment with a Genius (they could have squeezed me in for the same day, but I was in a rush). When I went back, it was less than 15 minutes before I was out with a brand new back on my iPhone! I unfortunately had a really bad repair experience at the West Ed Apple store, but this store's manager really saved the day! I brought in my Macbook to have a warped case repaired, and in the process they damaged the computer's camera. I brought it back into the west ed store, and the Genius was completely rude to me and arbitrarily refused to fix it for no really well explained reason (even though it was clearly their doing, and the computer was still under warranty). I ended up bringing the Macbook over to the Southgate store, and the manager was very angry when I told her what had happened at the West Ed store. She didn't even want me to wait for it to be repaired again, so she just replaced my Macbook with a brand new one off the shelf. I'm really impressed at the service and simple understanding I got from this store. read more

The Apple Store can be an incredibly busy place - only two of them in Edmonton, population: 1,159,869 (May 10, 2011), not to mention traffic from as far as Red Deer or Fort Mc Murray. Not to mention Saskatchewan where they have NO Apple Stores. Apple is an amazing technology company and as such they showcase their technology in every aspect of their business. Read this review if you want to understand how the Apple Store works. Finding Help: Maybe you have questions about the iPad or you're finally looking to buy that new MacBook Pro with Retina display. You want your experience to be as quick and effective as possible. Apple knows this and that's why they implemented something called the SmartSign. The SmartSign is an iPad mounted on every table beside every product on their sales floor. If you tap on "Specialist" and select "Yes, I have questions" you will be put into a queue line for the first available sales person (called a Specialist). Now you can play with those toys on the table and not have to worry about flagging someone down. Rest assured knowing someone may be on the way, though you should expect to wait a few minutes if the store appears crowded. Technical Services, Repairs, Troubleshooting: IMPORTANT: The Genius bar is a popular place, book your appointment early! (read more below) The Apple Stores have a truly amazing in-store support service called the Genius Bar. An Apple "Genius" is an Apple-Trained and Certified technician. They aren't just well trained at fixing your computer but they truly try to empathize with your situation. They understand that a broken computer or device is not a happy experience. They will do everything they can to relate to you and assure you they will do everything they can. That said, if you physically damaged or liquid damaged your electronics you can expect to pay for that repair. Despite rumors, Apple does NOT cover accidental damage (unless you purchased the new AppleCare + released in Canada early 2012 for iPhone or iPad). Booking a Genius Bar Appointment: It couldn't be easier - there's really no excuse not to other than you simply didn't know they booked appointments. You can visit the store website (apple.ca/southgatecentre) to reserve an appointment or use the Apple Store app to book from your iPhone or iPad. Remember to be on time! The appointment won't get held for you if you're late and the next appointment can be well over an hour away if you show up late. Also expect to wait if you show up with no appointment at all. In-Store Training: Are you new to Mac? Maybe you're not new but you'd like to learn how to make an awesome video using Final Cut Pro. Apple Store's have an amazing yearly training membership called the One to One membership where where you can get one-on-one, personalized training sessions. It's cheap and you can come in as many times as you like for an entire year training. For what it costs, One to One clearly doesn't make Apple a ton of money. It's all about training you how to master the Apple world. Think about it - when you go from 0 to 100 in 8.40s do you think you would ever drive anything else? This is a completely FREE service, and it's undoubtably the Apple Store's best kept secret. Every Apple Store has a team dedicated to business solutions and business customers. Their functional knowledge relates more to business use than any other employee in the store. The Business Team members are the only members in the store distinguishable by a different colored shirt - they sport a Black Polo with Apple logo on the sleeve, under it simply the word "Business". These are your people if you have business related questions, purchases, orders, etc. They also have a dedicated Business Team phone line and email. Also related is a premium business service called Joint Venture. If you have many Macs and Apple Devices within your business and you simply can't afford to be down a machine or have members of your team unfamiliar with the technology, you need to ask about this. This is not a free service, but a paid yearly membership. And for what you get it is an absolutely amazing price! I have been a huge Apple fan all my life. My father bought his first Mac computer before I could even speak. The way the Apple Store showcases Apple technology in every corner of the business is truly incredible. I just bought a laptop and the X phone, the laptop stopped working completely within the first 2 weeks and now I'm getting the run around as to getting it fixed. This was my 4th Macbook, 6th phone, and I have 2 Ipads that don't work and they won't fix because they we're gifts for me from my banking institution. I can't wait until someone finally comes out with something better than Apple. Don't use this Apple store people. They love to take your money but will NOT go the extra mile afterwards. I had a bad experience at this store... I made a walk in reservation with a wait time of 4 hours, it ended up being 6 hours. I came in because my screen was not working and the gentleman helping me insisted it was the charger and that I needed to upgrade my phone although I insisted back it was not the charger it was the screen. He claimed that he checked everything in the back. I went home and fully charged my phone and made a reservation for another day at another location, it took the next person 20 minutes to fix my screen. My son's 6 month old iPhone quit working, so I made an appointment to have it checked out. We arrived about 20 minutes early and were told they would not help us until the scheduled time even though the store was empty. We returned at the appointed time, were told to take a seat at the Genius Bar (really?) and we would be helped right away. Well, I think right away means 5 minutes, not 20. When we were finally helped, the phone was unfixable and so we the warranty was honoured and we were given a new phone. read more

Generally I only visit the Apple Store when I need some sort of tech support. And seeing as I don't own THAT many Apple products, it doesn't happen that I need this terribly frequently. But it is necessary and it's a good thing that Apple Stores exist for these purposes! I'm not terribly fond of exploring the products that they own in store, but for technical support the physical Apple store is well worth a visit. I visit the Southgate location the most, partially because of the LRT connection to Southgate and partially because it's a nice location overall. I get good service from staff and I like the method of booking appointments in advance online so as to not waste my time when I get to the store. read more

Friendly, efficient, helpful, and slick...every single time. I've had about 10 apple devices in my life and maybe have visited the Apple Store 20 times. I rarely visit to browse, I'm usually there to purchase or for repairs. I've never had a bad customer experience and I've had some major problems with my devices; mostly self inflicted, but a couple of times were bugs and defects. Every time, I left the store happy and with a working device; either fixed or replaced. I was back in the store today just to pick up a SIM card because I can get one free from the Apple store whereas my provider charges $10.50. The customer service has gone downhill for the past few years. They genius bar wasn't helpful at all. We had our iPhone for a year a bit and the phone doesn't turn on all of a sudden. We never dropped or spilled any water on it. They just did a quick analysis and tell us they have no clue why it is not working and ask us to pay $269 for a replacement. I was so mad because we paid $700 for the phone and we take care of the phone very well. It was likely that we got a defected product at first! We left and looked elsewhere for help. Later, we came across a guy on Kijji who can fix iPhone. He did a analysis and told us it is likely a battery issue. He charged us $50 and replaced the battery. My phone turns on and it is working totally fine now! I am not sure if I want an Apple product anymore... Instead of looking into the problem, they just ask us to pay $269 and give us a "new"(refurnished) phone. read more

I got a new laptop, and a hardware malfunction basically turned it into a brick. I can't fault Apple for that, since they don't manufacture hard drives, so it could really happen to any computer. When I came in the exchanged it and I was out the door with a new one very quickly. read more

I don't think I've ever walked out of this store disappointed. Clean, well lit and very very busy! The staff are always extremely helpful, but it's sometimes hard to get their attention because they are so busy. I like being able to play with new gadgets and perhaps because the sales reps are so busy there is never any pressure to buy. I love that the Apple Store will give you free sim cards for your iPad, especially when they are $10 at Rogers! read more

OK so every time I walk into this store (with a friend cuz God help me if I go in there alone) I immediately forget about all the irritating things my Blackberry does on a regular basis and I realize how much I love that little thing. OMG words can't express how much I loath this place!! I don't understand how it takes soooo looooong to do EVERYTHING around there...seems ironic! But every time I am there I wait, and wait, and wait, then sneak off to get a Orange Julius, then I wait some more. Now I must first admit that I am severely bias and have this irrational hate on for everything Apple. ICrap keeps falling into my life and then I have to spend my well deserved free time trying to figure out how to get rid of it. I was given an IPad as a gift and couldn't sell it fast enough (sounds rude but I will have you know the only reason my EX-bf bought it for me was to try and lessen my wrath when he told me he spent a s**tload of $$ on other useless crap for himself - ummm, turns out - not his best idea ever!) Not to say the people aren't helpful cuz they really are - they are always knowledgeable and friendly! But how many 'geniuses' are guna ask me if I have been helped before I lash out irrationally about how "I don't f*****g know if I have been helped yet, someone said they were helping me but I haven't seen them at all in the last 3 HOURS!?!?! Can YOU help me FASTER??" If this place gets to me this bad and I am only there for moral support it will be a cold day in hell before I ever get an IPhone! You can't beat the customer service at Apple. Seriously. Let me give you just a few examples of amazing customer service I've experienced... 1) Way back in, oh I dunno... 2007? I had an issue with my iMac. The power supply went caput. It was out of warranty. Guess what? Apple fixed it for me anyway at no charge. 2) Bought a new macbook in 2013. Noticed that the coating on the plug was chipping off. Apple stuff has great resale especially if in mint condition, so this matters to me. Took my laptop in, and they grabbed a brand new one off the shelf, in the box and everything and gave it to me. Didn't even care that I didn't have the charger for my mac, let me take the new box with another charger. Now I have two chargers :) 3) Was treated like idiots by a particular genius bar person who was rude, arrogant, and not at all what I expect from Apple (this was in late 2014). I sent an email to Apple regarding this, received a phone call the very next day from store manager who brought us in and replaced our phone that was having an issue. They care. 4) I bought a phone case as a gift for someone (two weeks ago). He didn't like it. I returned it and wasn't asked 21 questions and the product was inspected with a fine tooth comb like they do at other places. Yes, it's just a phone case, but some places are real jerks when it comes to returning something. So my point is... over the years, always consistent customer service. Sure, I pay a premium for Apple products. But they hold value more than any other brand. I've sold all my old iPhones for several several hundred dollars each. And I sold my old iMac and an old macbook pro as well for big bucks. So ya, I love Apple. They can have all my money and my first born. read more

This is my jillionith dead iphone, but really most of the times it's my fault. I've dropped them, accidentally dunked them, had them covered in good and I use my phone 99% of the time when I'm awake. Every time my little darlings die , I bring them here and usually they get fixed up right quick no problems, and no charge! Eat that samsung users! Today I brought in my phone because the battery was dying. It's an Iphone 5. That's like ancient, so they looked at it and just said..... My latest Apple issue is with my Nano. I bought it in April to use for running and it has worked great until about a month ago. All of a sudden the fitness sensor stopped working. My husband tried resetting it and everything else Apple told him to do - nothing fixed it. Now Apple is saying that the problem is my fault because I don't have Nike running shoes! I've never had Nike! Explain to me why, while running in Mizuno and Asics for months the fitness app worked? The 'blame the consumer' attitude of Apple is really what makes me irate. We've spent 3 days going back and forth to the Apple Store (waited over an hour today just to get an appointment!!) and phoning their help line only to be treated like we were idiots. The staff here are amazing, they must deal with crabby old ladies like myself on the daily. I was extremely disappointed with my iphone 6, and cracking the screen was just the tip of the iceberg. Service at this Apple Store was pretty good with attentive staff that were willing and eager to help. If you had any trouble shooting needs, you can also make reservations for a visit with the Genius Bar online right on the Apple Store page. It does book up in advance so keep that in mind. The store is set up much like many other Apple stores with tables scattered throughout the entire store and "tills" attached to these tables. Staff carry around little machines attached to iPhones that are used as registers and they can pretty much help you out anytime making line ups (unless you go on a busy mall day during holiday season or on a release day etc) more a thing of the past. The products are a bit pricey given that we are paying a little more than we should just for the name "Apple"...but I can't lie, I love their selection of cases and accessories. They don't have as much as the little mall kiosks do for phone cases but all the ones they carry have a very sleek and clean look to them. They also carry life proof cases! Plus you can get your fitness bands (jawbone up, Fitbit, etc) there as well! There are only 2 apple stores in edmonton that I know of but just comparing it to Apple stores in other cities or countries, I'd definitely give the costumer service and helpfulness of this Apple Store a higher than average rating! If I could give a rating of zero stars, I would. I booked an appointment with tech support because my Mac would not turn on due to water damage. The tech support man I was assigned to gave me a list of items that would need to be replaced and the price it would cost - which came to $1200. My Mac is only 2 years old!!!! He then told me I should just purchase a new device from Apple. Later, I went to another repair company and they told me just the motherboard needed to be replaced and that they could do it for less than $200. I was furious with the service I received from Apple and what they told me. I then went on Google and searched if others had the same problem, and of course I discovered that there are so many lawsuits against apple for the same thing!!!!!!! Apple will tell you your device is impossible to fix, and it's better to buy a new product just to make a sale. This is very unfortunate because I was a huge fan of Apple products until now.
