Always love it here!! Air is so clean people are so friendly. And we always have to get an apple pie. I advise to take it home and put it in the oven for a little long though for the best crust!!

I have been coming here for over 13 years, a beautiful place to visit with the family. Their pies are one of the reason why I'm always here, but lately their pies are no where as near what they used to be. Very disappointing since I'm always looking to winter time for a pie.

Not much to do, except shop the little open air store, probably best to visit during the harvest season.

Great day outing from Reno NV. Lots of things to see and do. The vendors are plentiful and varied with a wide variety of items to sell.

How do you become a regular at a welcome center? Well she took me for the first time. Good size and clean. HUGE unisex restroom. Plenty of souvenirs to buy. Lots of history to study. Atmosphere - See pictures and read above. Service - So welcoming. Gave me a pamphlet for the local wineries and breweries. This might be my new "Livermore?!?!" Price - Free. Well, it depends if you buy souvenirs. Owner Comment - Thank you for such a welcoming center, pun intended.

There are Visitor Guides of different towns of California. Go by districts, so as example, Bay Area, Monterey area, San Joaquin County, Southern California. One time two of them telling me stories of the Women Prison at the museum at Historic Court House. It is actually outside the Court House, if one looks, there was small area for the bed, the sink, and the toilet. Very first time I ever visited Auburn, asked of Forgotten Soldier Program Park. Wow, it is walkable of this Auburn Visitor Center. Now this to me strange. There also Placer County Visitor Center. I am fourth person for that. What is strange it is exact address, same directions, same telephone number.

I dunno--what were you looking for out of a drive up a mountain in winter to learn about people getting stranded for making bad choices about winter in the mountains? It seems like a pretty good metaphor for something. They (the signs and the local authorities enforcing them) threaten that tire chains are necessary during winter weather events (which was most certainly a thing that was happening during our trip), but they seem to give you a pass for AWD and snow tires. Bring chains if that's not what you're driving.

While, as a previous reviewer mentioned, we can simply thumb the need for quick advisable bits of info online, there's something a little more refreshing when one comes face to face with staff willing to make a road trip such a pleasure as the one my brother and I took a few weeks ago. Generally, I'm the kind of guy who tends to sight see locations of interest whenever I hop in my car and go. While the usual suspect tourist traps pull us in, there's something to be said of taking the road less traveled, and on this particular day, it was definitely worth the side venture. The woman working behind the counter was as friendly as can be. She started up a conversation with both my brother and I, engaging him even further personally in small talk as I wandered about the center taking the kitschy only in Tahoe merch laid about in well organized fashion. Thanks to her bubbly personality, my brother was able to learn about an overlook area allowing these breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe from high the windy above. I never thought to go further along in our travels that day, but such an opportunity to see nature in such grandeur was too hard to pass up. All in all, it was a great experience - a few minutes alone was well spent invested in this short road trip that my brother and I will take as a memorable part of the journey. I highly encourage others who may trek the same road we did, to also stop in and make themselves feel at home. You'll be so glad you did.
