Ordered Motherboard bundle and a B grade 1TB NVME SSD…read more The value of the B grade nvme was £80 Incorrect 500gb SSD shipped - the mistake was due to incorrect (possibly deceitful) labelling of stock inventory and clearly no system of thoroughly checking items before being posted to customer. Emails then ignored for 3 days, wasn't until they were called that any action was to be taken. Not only is that an unacceptable time frame, its frankly borderline disability discrimination, as someone who is AuADHD and have other health issues, the last thing I want to be doing is ringing companies to chase issues that should already have been looked into as it makes my symptoms worse and I will be unwell for days after. On the phone I was spoken to with Dan, who did not offer a satisfactory resolution to the problem. It felt like there is a culture of apathy at CCL where the whole system seemed quite inflexible and born out of a business that is happy to regularly make mistakes at the customers detriment. It is not my fault that the wrong item was sent and that there isn't stock of the item I ordered. The reasonable solution most other decent companies would have taken would have been to replace the £80 B grade NVME with new stock one (£100 at the time of my purchase) and have the 500GB incorrect one returned and the company eats the mistake of losing £20 - but naturally they had already increased the price of the new item to £115 and did not give this option. Instead I was forced to choose between a partial refund or returning the item - not satisfactory considering the items are all part of a birthday gift for a 13 year old that needs to be ready in a weeks time. Edit - was called again by Dan who said he cannot do the partial refund so the only option was to send the item back and get a full refund. NOT IMPRESSED I will not be using CCL again unless the realise the value in seeking returning customers via good customer support and will stick to using their competitors.

I ordered a CPU from them on Nov 8th at scalping prices (£70 above RRP) on the basis of a promised 15th Nov shipping date. When it hadn't turned up by the 20th, I contacted them and was told to expect it towards the end of November. By the end of December still nothing heard, so I emailed them telling them how unhappy I was - they didn't bother to answer my email but logging in to the web site, I find out that they have simply cancelled my order without telling me. I have never had such dreadful service from a company selling computer parts.

The store is surprisingly large for a city centre location, it's over two floors, but with escalators going up only if you're heading down you'll need to use the stairs or find the elevator. The store stocks a wide range of electronics from computers to printers, TV's to smart speakers, as well as accessories including ink, and laptop carrying cases. There is a small Apple section, although I much prefer John Lewis at the Victoria Quarter or the Apple Store inside Trinity for Apple products, as the selection is limited. Although they had the advertising in-store for the iPhone 15, the only model out to demo was the iPhone 14, they also seemed to only have the older MacBook Pro's compared to the latest generation - what's the deal with that? The location is great for those who are in the city centre but the problem with this is that the store doesn't have parking, and for a store that specialises in large electronic items from printers to laptops and TVs, that isn't practical, there is Q-Park St Johns Centre which is located a five-minute walk away, but again depending on what you're buying, this could be hard to carry around a busy city centre on foot. 4* - It's a huge store, which is rare for a city centre, being located closer to parking and ensuring they stock a range of the latest tech would be big improvements, otherwise they risk becoming more of an outlet.

PC Consumables has got the right idea - key student location - ideal for all those panicky moments…read morewhen your laptop goes down, or you need an extra USB stick and so on. Although the staff are friendly enough you certainly get the sense that perhaps the keeness lies in selling you a few bits rather than necessarily going out of their way to be helpful. That said it's so conveniently situated it is great to quickly nip into and fill up on basics, like my ever dwindling printer ink supply, and for that I'm grateful. If anything their prices seem to challenge that of the larger supply stores although I still haven't found anyone to challenge Wilko's for my Canon ink cartridges! A handy place to go if you're running out of time and live within the vicinity, but nothing ultra special either.

They sell every computer staple you really need, including blank CDs, USBs, printer ink etc etc, and the man behind the counter fixes computers. A few years back, my laptop broke, and I desperately needed it fixing, without sending it away. PC Consumables was close to my halls, so I decided to go there, instead of taking it into town, so I could just pick it up on the way home from uni. When I went to pick it up, I was fed a load of jargon, and if I'm honest, I was not sure about whether I trusted him. But he said it was fixed- at the steep and crippling price of £100. Needless to say, I was devastated when it still kept on turning off unprompted, and he appeared to have done nothing. Angrily, I went back and, having had my own theories about what was actually wrong with it, I told him. He said he'd have a look. Sure enough, I was right (to a certain extent), and he fixed the computer "for free". He said there would be no charge. At the time, I couldn't have thanked him enough, as it was working perfectly again, but on reflection, I'd been well and truely 'done'.. and I am still bitter.. Having got over this minor mishap, years on, I still use PC Consumables when I'm passing. It's good residential location and (other than for the fixing) cheap prices makes it a very handy little place if you desperately are in need of ink or a USB stick.

The manager was excellent, he dealt with the problem swiftly and had it repaired within the hour to a very high standard. He was very apologetic and professional and a pleasure to deal with. Having read the reviews I was unsure about going back in however I am very glad I did as it was clearly a genuine mistake that was cleared up immediately and without any trouble.

Where do I start with this absolute Disgrace of a shop, of an owner, of a Boss!!…read more This joke of a man got me and my friend to move his shop, said he would pay us but never did, instead he paid his older staff our wages, staff that moved nothing at all. When me and my friend were talking, needing a drink, needing the toilet (which as a person with prostate issues is common) he argued with us and blamed us for everything, all while Barry and his existing staff were talking and able to do what they wanted. A customer once came in with a laptop and all the replacement parts and all he needed Barry to do was swap them over but Barry made up some absolute BS excuse as to why he needs to use HIS parts (which were wrong) and argued with the customer saying he was stupid and wrong, ended up asking the customer £250 for a quick repair, a repair that already included all the replacement parts etc My brother went in with a cheap phone to get it fixed, Barry asked for £90, way more than the phone is worth and argued with him etc. Barry treats his new staff like absolute dirt, he talks down onto his customers, uses terrible quality parts, makes lies after lies, over charges etc. etc. etc. - He is absolutely the worst repair guy I have EVER known of, absolutely avoid at ALL COSTS.
