They are very good at alterations and very reasonable. Also have always been happy with their dry cleaning.

Apple Cleaners is located in Goodnoe Corner on Sycamore Street, Newtown. In a previous incarnation an office supply store occupied this space very close to The Green Parrot. I don't claim any special expertise when it comes to professional cleaners. I just want my shirts and pants done well and ready when I come to claim them. Apple has been keeping me satisfied for the time they have been here. The customer service is friendly, and they can remove spots that are pointed out to them. Oh, and they seldom return my dress shirts with broken buttons; one of my serious peeves. I offer three stars because although I am quite happy with Apple, I am not sure that being a "Fan" or having an orgasm (Woohoo!) really expresses the more moderate emotional response I have to a clean shirt. read more

Services were excellent. I had my bridesmaid dress altered here for a wedding. It was 2 fittings before actual sewing. First, they measure, chalk and pin. Second fitting, they make adjustments. I went here based off of a referral by my fiancé sister. She had a bridesmaids dress altered that was three times too big and they did an excellent job as well. read more

Had the most wonderful experience at Apple Cleaners in Newtown. I brought a faux fur to be cleaned and when I noticed that the hemline was slightly curled, Apple Cleaners completely restructured the entire hemline of the coat without charge and now it looks better than when it was new! I recently had a terrible and truly upsetting experience with Apple Cleaners, and feel as though it's important to write a review explaining the service and treatment I received. I bought a dress online for my friends wedding for around $60.00. Upon receiving it in the mail, I found it to be a bit too large, so I took it to Apple Cleaners to get i resized. The gentleman behind the counter was polite and friendly, however, the woman who pinned my dress and helped measure it seemed to be in a rushed and bad mood. She talked over me and rushed through the process of sizing me. When I picked up my dress, I paid and took it home. I tried it on and found that it was entirely too short. When sizing the dress, it reached an inch past my fingers with my arms hanging by my side. However, this was above my palms, and would've showed everything. I took it back to the cleaners, and the same woman who sized me was behind the counter. I have worked in a customer service position myself for the past 7 years, so I always ensure to be very polite and friendly to those who serve me. I very politely explained that it wasn't the size we agreed upon. As soon as she heard the dress was too short, she tried to rush me into agreeing that she could make it a quarter of an inch longer. I explained that wouldn't be enough to fix the length. She then angrily, talked over me, asking If I wanted a refund on the dress. Very rushed and hostile and rude. I wasn't looking for a refund of the dress and assumed I would be able to get a refund on just the tailoring. However, when I told her that I just was looking for the tailoring refund, she seemed to take it as an insult. She refused to refund my money. I explained the dress was ruined and I couldn't wear it to the wedding. She opened the register, pulled out the $37 I paid for the tailoring, and slammed it on the counter. Then, she took the dress out of my hands, AND THREW IT IN THE TRASH. I left the store in tears, with no dress for my wedding in two days. Inexcusable and horrible. I feel very used and will NEVER RETURN to apple cleaners, and I encourage everyone to do the same. I do hope management reads this, and future customers take this as a warning. Dropped dress off to be hemmed. Picked it up a week later. Thank God I decided to try it on at home. They accepted payment but did not do the hem. Had to come back and was very stressed out about getting the dress back in time for the wedding. Additionally had asked for some beading to be repaired. I received the dress back with loose strings where that work was done and I lost a ton of beading during the event. Side note: I asked them to steam the dress the first time I dropped it off. They didn't. When I dropped it off the second time, I had also asked again, and they didn't. I would never return to this cleaners. Terrible first experience. read more

Terrible service! I dropped off my husband's suit to be cleaned on a Thursday. They told me to come back on Monday. When I went on Monday the women there looked concerned and spoke to each other for awhile before telling me the suit was still "out being cleaned" and would be ready by Thursday. I reluctantly said okay and went back on Thursday. The women told at this point that they had my husbands suit pants but they had given the jacket to another couple who just had a baby and couldn't bring it back (????). I told them we had an upcoming wedding the next week and I needed the jacket immediately. They said they would keep reaching out to the couple and try to get it back. After checking in a few times, the following Thursday they did not have the jacket and I finally got the owner on the phone and told him to get me the jacket today even if he had to pick it up himself or give me the money to replace it. The owner went that day to pick it up and I picked it up from him at the shop later that night. They tried to charge me for the cleaning which I refused after they had given the clothes away and I now had to get them recleaned somewhere else. I will NEVER go back. read more
