I've used Checker Cab service several times in the last year. They are not always prompt, but…read moreusually they get there and are friendly and helpful. Today was a disaster. I am 80 years old, crippled with multiple sclerosis, and have no transportation or children to help me. The man who answered the phone sounded distracted. Me and my groceries were waiting to be picked up for way over an hour. When I called to ask when someone would come, a woman answered, saying she had just started her shift. Later I was told that the first driver I contacted overlooked me on his list. Finally someone did come, having been called after their shift was over. As part of my once a month outing (I cannot afford more than that), I had another STOP to make. I needed very much to buy a sturdy box in which to mail something heavy. I asked the driver to take me to UPS. It was closed. Because the first driver left me waiting so long, I could not get what I needed. The driver that did pick me up made an attempt to find a place to get a box, finally going into a supermarket to get a couple of boxes that will not work. He charged me twice as much as usual, feeling justified for trying to help. If the first driver had picked me up, even an hour late, the box store would not have been closed. I am old, sick, and dependent on others. Now i have lost confidence in Checker. Since my only day out was a disaster, my month will be ver difficult. Not a good way to run a business. Kicking an old woman to the curb is not a good way to live your life either, driver #1. You will be old someday. Beware.

However, that 2 hour drive out of his way seemed not ideal so we looked for a driving service. Enter Richard of EZ Shuttle. We reached out the night before and he was available to take us to the airport which is a 2 hour drive. He was super prompt to get us at our cabin, had a clean car, offered us water and was such a delightful driver. He also gave us some history of the area which was nice. Our party of 5 made it safely to the airport for a reasonable price. Not only does he do airport transfers but he also can drive you in the area if you're looking to go to wineries or just get around the mountains without having to drive. Will totally be using his services again!
