During the time of my first visit there were plenty of people in there, not always alot of space, which almost forces you to interact with your fellow co-shoppers, either way those pleasantries ended at check out, something was "off" about the staff. Fast forward to my most recent visit with my daughter (who entered with me) slow week day, nothing eye-catching or worth grabbing but "since we're here, we'll buy SOMETHING." There were a ton of people behind the counter waiting on no one, but I received the invisible customer treatment and grudging service. It felt very tolerated and not welcomed, my daughter noticed it as well, in fact as we were walking out she said we will never return here. Loved the strawberries from my first visit. It was refreshing to see fruit resembling those from my parents' garden in the 80s.

I was looking for heirloom pumpkins for decor and for a still life painting. The crew was watering the mums when we arrived before noon opening on Sunday. The mums were luscious and just starting to bloom. A cart selling Noble Coffee had a lazy aging dog sleeping underneath. Pumpkins and gourds lined the building in neat rows. I found a blue pumpkin that I needed. When the shop opened, kids headed towards the fields for pick your own pumpkins. I was surprised that raspberries were still on the vines for you pick. I headed into the shop to look around. Spencer bottles and sells their own salad dressings and preserves. Fall and Christmas giftware was out. But, a case full of pies caught my eye. Peach, blueberry, cherry, apple and more. I selected a slice of blackberry. I enjoyed my pie outside on their little patio. The pie was delicious. (They The They also sell fudge and ice cream.) The winery is a new addition since my last visit. The winery wasn't opened, but I will check it out on my next visit. Spencer Farm is a great place to visit and pick up fresh produce.

I had the chance to accompany a friend to Spencer Farm for a relatively brief visit. While it was pretty brief, I was impressed. Spencer Farm was started by, you guessed it, the Spencers - Lori and Kyle. It started out as Spencer's U-Pick in 1982. They started out with strawberries. By 1986, they moved to a new farm on Cherry Tree Road. They expanded to include red raspberries, black raspberries, blueberries, and chrysanthemums. They've added pumpkins, asparagus, grapes, Christmas trees, and their son founded a winery that now also sits on the farm grounds. Spencer's now does pre-picked, you-pick, and wholesale fruit. In 2008, they further expanded the farm with a variety of Indiana products including ice cream, fudge, pies, jams, jellies, etc. As you can tell, I immediately wanted to see their sunflower field. I love, love, love sunflowers. One of the reasons I'm not particularly a farm dude is because farms are seldom very accessible. While Spencer's isn't perfect, there's a STRONG effort here to be accessible. I was honestly surprised and impressed. You could send me to the gift shop, and I could be a very happy camper. I will note that they have a strong photography policy. It's on their website, but if you're taking professional equipment I'd read the policies first as there are requirements. There's an awful lot to love here. The people are friendly. The farm is well laid out and surprisingly accessible (the fields obviously have some issues - they're fields). There's accessible parking close to the entrance. This would be a great place for families. Children should definitely enjoy it. There's a strong element of faith here, and that's radiated in the beauty of the surroundings and the service.

These two things were just what I needed and helped me get on with my day. A Fresh Thyme is a Fresh Thyme is a Fresh Thyme. If you've been to one Fresh Thyme, then you've been to this one in Fishers. They're all blissfully the same. You can find bulk nuts and supplements and fancy chips and interesting food items around every corner. I love Fresh Thyme because they have a lot of the things I'm looking for but can't find elsewhere. They are very good at stocking the fancy items and the things that are hard to find. I was able to get in and out of this grocery store very quickly, thanks to the self-check-out lanes that are available. But there are also real, live people at the checkout lanes to help, as well.

An entrance and separate exit had been set up. The hanging baskets were affordable and gorgeous but I had already purchased my baskets. The annuals and perennials selection was limited but healthy and a nice variety. Once I went inside the stand I found prebagged greenbeans, tomatoes and new potatoes I had to take home with me. They were fresh and made for a nice summer meal. If you're in the area stop by and checkout the selection. It's a short drive from Plainfield on US 40.

The sunflower field is smaller but they have a specific section just for taking photos. Watch out for the bees - they love sunflowers too :) We also noticed that they had food trucks available during the summer sunflower field weekends as well. They have a small farmers market with a gift shop, produce, and lots of goodies. In the Fall, they have mums, pumpkins, and gourds available.

We browsed a bit and then the very friendly staff helped us with options. We bought a pound of the covered ones and got a huge assortment which come in both dark and milk chocolate. The amazing thing too is that they hand dip everything! It is a family owned spot that has been around forever, so they know their chocolate! Biting into the cream filled center my first thought was that this chocolate was amazing, and super thick. They did not skimp on the coating which I so appreciate. The filling was plenty and you almost didn't have to eat more than one to feel full, they were that full of taste. Delicious!
