I went in complaining about pain on my upper right teeth and said my gums feel inflamed and it hurts constantly, and the dentist DR LAUNDRY WHO I DO NOT RECOMMEND, told me there was nothing wrong. Then I come back for another problem and she tells me I need a root canal done. I looked at her in pure shock like how are you trying to tell me I need a root canal MONTHS later after I already complained prior about my pain ? Then I went because I had bad TMJ pain. The dentist who saw me stuck her finger in my mouth and said I have no idea what to do for the pain. It was just bad after bad after bad. I went to a tmj specialist and they told me that family dental is wild for not giving you lidocaine for the pain. Long story short I explained my frustrations to this manager named Morgan... he had me on speaker, and as I told him everything.... He responded with I don't care and if you don't trust us, why do you keep coming back. I will admit, I blew up on him over the phone but he deserved every bit of my bad mouthing. I will be contacting a lawyer. Morgan doesn't know how to run a dental office and should be fired for the way he spoke to me BEFORE I blew up on him. Ps. The team and the service here is exceptional. Appointments run on time, what a crazy concept, and the staff is very friendly. Surprisingly, they have some pretty fancy chairs while your teeth are worked on and they're very comfortable. The rooms are clean and modern with large displays that show not only the work being done but your actual costs! In a world where providers are pushing costs as low as possible, Bay Star's dentists do the actual work themselves. Dr. Tai cleaned my teeth and spent time just getting to know me as a new patient. I needed to come back for a filing to be repaired and to say that Dr. Tai is a perfectionist might be an understatement. I have never had a dentist take the time to discuss his plan, what my desired outcomes were, and then to spend as much time as was required to get it perfect by his standards (mine are clearly lower and it's my teeth!). I wouldn't go back because it traumatized me how much a dental gum check (ie with that periodontal probe) could hurt. I've had them done all my life and this one made me wince more than once. I mistakenly brought my mom here before this incident and while she got a cleaning by the established hygienist, she also got a "free" dental CT image as we were considering implants. The doc said he couldn't do my mom's particular case because it was complex. To avoid more radiation at an actual specialist's appointment elsewhere, we asked for the CT but got the "only free if you stick with us" spiel. Do not think this policy is aligned to HIPAA, so watch out: not everything that Smiles is ethical.

I scheduled a second appointment to adjust the filling (because it was too tight and I couldn't use floss). After loosening it, my headache improved somewhat, but it hasn't completely gone away. Additionally, their prices are very high. Other places charge $180 for a filling, but here it's $280. Overall, this was a very bad experience.
