Initially, I chose them only because they found me the lowest cost for all my insurance policies combined (through Mercury). I had shopped around a lot - Geico, Progressive, AAA, AllState, StateFarm, Travelers, etc. They moved very fast, when I called close to their closing time, because I needed to have my home insurance active the next day for mortgage underwriting. Insurance premiums vary for everyone and they are not going to be the cheapest for everyone. But, I would happily remain with them even if the companies they represent happen to be slightly more expensive, because they really understand insurance products and can explain every fine print to me (like "nonbuilding structures" coverage). I have not found such knowledgeable answers in any other insurance office. This appears to be a family business that has been around for decades. So you are not talking to someone who has been on the job for a few months and is reading off the insurance marketing materials. Communication, over phone and email, are excellent. However, the companies they represent have barebones online account access. I don't think you can get online quotes. That's why they have insurance agencies like this one to represent them. It is a bit of a work to get the insurance policy going - have to fax or mail things over. But, once the policies are setup, renewal is easy.

Allstate has always been great when I've needed them in the past, and they seem to be one of the few companies that still offers new renters policies and isn't picky about your zip code. I called and was helped by Daniel, who was easily able to retrieve my former car insurance policy and help update it to something that would best fit my current needs and budget. After a couple calls we finally set the new insurance plan into action and then added a renters policy shortly after. While it wasn't the cheapest coverage I found, it was a little cheaper than a lot of the other big names out there. Only one company in my search was actually significantly less expensive, but reviews weren't great and I know and trust Allstate from all the previous years of coverage I've had.
