Chopped and tossed is the way the go! I also want to recommend the Troy location over the Clawson bc I've heard service there is AWFUL. This place is my favorite stop for Greek salad when I'm in the area. You can get their yummy in-house marinated chicken on the salad. The generous portion of chicken is perfectly seasoned and grilled and has fantastic flavors! The small portion of the salad is loaded with feta cheese, beets, olives, lettuce, and more like a large size! It's worth a visit every time I come to town! I have been going to Apovini's since before my son was born, decades ago. Now he loves it as much as we always have. This place is absolutely AMAZING! The grilled chicken greek salad with the pink dressing is the best salad you will eat in SE Michigan or anywhere! It is completely addicting! But also everything else I get there is also incredible! The staff are super warm,friendly and extremely accommodating to me and my family. This place is always super clean, the ambiance is modern, warm and inviting. Support family owned businesses like this one and you will NOT be disappointed. We moved and I don't live as close as I used to, but I can still get it on DoorDash! :) I will still go there every chance I get. I had been to the other Apovini location several years ago and it was good, so I figured this would be a great place to stop for lunch... We were seated as quickly as we walked in. This place was dead empty for a Saturday at noon. That should have been our first clue... A sandwich sounded good and the list of available sandwiches looked pretty solid. The menu had a nice selection that wasn't terribly overwhelming. I opted for the club pita with a side of fries. As soon as I saw it, I knew we were going to have issues. I had mistakenly assumed that the club pita was essentially a club sandwich in a pita. What I got was a BLT topped with awkwardly thick chunks of dry turkey (think awful Thanksgiving dinner) wrapped in a pita. I appreciate the amount of bacon that they put on the sandwich, but that wasn't enough to distract from the nasty dry turkey. I had to take the turkey off. Enough about the sandwich. I'm a fan of crunchy fries and/or seasoned fries. I did not get either of those things here. The fries were nice and soggy, and tasteless- not even salt could remedy this. You'd think that for the prices you'd be getting a little more. Service was barely acceptable. Lots of gossiping and talking about customers. We spent a lot of time waiting and waiting for someone to notice that we were done and trying to leave. I regret coming here. read more

Will never come back again. I used to love their salads and I didn't mind it being a little pricey and I was always used to the other store which I never had issues with. I placed an order while at my office to take out thinking I'd ordered from the Crooks one, I go there after finishing stuff at my office so that it's been 15+ minutes that way I know when I get there my order will be ready and I won't have to wait. Somehow I called the wrong one, so I drive to the John R one thinking great foods gonna be sitting for so long and be gross but oh well, maybe I'll be lucky and it'll come out right as I get there. I get there and it's not busy nobody else waiting ahead of me, my order isn't ready. At first I'm like yay my food won't be gross at least!! Then I have to wait and wait and wait and wait. I think my food took at least 45 minutes+ to be ready. I didn't notice the one bag they gave me they had obviously cut through the bags cuz the entire side of the bag had a slit from top to bottom so when I walk out all my food falls out in the parking lot. At this point I'm not going to go inside and wait another hour for food as I've wasted all this time already waiting on this. HORRIBLE experience and will never go back. read more

Went there for late lunch. First time there. I ordered a steak medium rare. Got it almost well done. When i ask for the replacement, the waitress actually ask me "you want another one right??" FFS if you can turn a steak from well done to medium rare, I will eat the original one. If I asked you to take back the steak, wtf would you think I want with it?!?!? Then it took over 25 minutes for the second steak to arrive. Medium rare steak takes 25 minutes to cook? The restaurant was almost empty after the lunch crowd. My friend already finished eating by the time my food came. I swallowed it quick so I dont make him wait while I eat. Overall this was a terrible visit, food was sub-par, service was slow. I order a salad that was advertised as $12 , when I got my bill it totaled $18. They charged me $3 to chop the salad and $3 for pita (that was assumed to be included with a Greek salad). When asked about it, the waitress said I asked for the pita (which I didn't) AND my salad wasn't even chopped , if that's chopped then what's NOT chopped? A complete tomato and a full lettuce head? This place looks like an average family restaurant from the outside and easy to miss, but the food is excellent. We've always had good service as well, even if they are busy. Anything with grilled chicken is delicious. They must have some secret marinade, but that grilled chicken is perfect. As a result, if you get a salad with chicken, it's wonderful. If you get a pita with grilled chicken, it's wonderful. I'm also a fan of the pink salad dressing. For me, the only draw back is the potatoes they serve with the breakfast. Reliable and consistently good food with reasonable prices. A great place for a quick lunch, even if you're eating alone. This was my first trip into this place and I was told there in one other location - so no where near a chain in my opinion! At first glance everything looked pretty darn good - in fact after being served my salad that came with my meal - I thought I was probably going to give it a five star. The pricing and selection sure seemed good and the speed in which they got me that fantastically fresh salad was amazing. However, when I got the Jumbo shrimp plate with fries - things started to fall apart. The jumbo shrimp were not jumbo - they were more like medium to maybe large, but they were smashed flat making them look larger than they were. Breading on the shrimp was overkill and made these shrimp tasteless so to speak! As for the fries - crinkle cut is what I call them - NOT fresh cut and certainly came from a freezer! With enough ketchup though they were very eatable. This entree was suppose to be smaller than the basket of shrimp, but I may never know for sure. However, there was enough food served to fill me - almost. When I asked if any of the deserts were homemade there - I was told the mixed berry and apple pies were. I didn't give her a chance to continue as apple pie is a favorite of mine and homemade normally means good! So I ordered a piece - HOT! However, like the shrimp and fries I wasn't impressed. In fact so unimpressed that I couldn't eat it all - not because I was full, but because it was the most horrible apple pie I have ever had. McDonalds serves better! With the cleanliness of the place being the biggest attractant - I realize that a 5 star review was far from being in line. When i went to this place, I thought about what the word service meant In this world or if it existed in this world. I ordered two salads without bacon and I got two salad with bacon. I called them about the bacon situation and they told me they got busy or my order got transferred. To be honest it's not problem if you messed up or my order got transferred. But regardless instead of apologising, they told me to come pick it up. When I went to pick it up, they seemed upset that they messed up the order. I wanted to return the other salads but they didn't want them back so I threw them out. After everything, they gave me one salad instead of two. Never going there again. The Fries were burnt and all brown, very gross. The Gyro Sandwich: The meat was overcooked and they put way to much Sauce on it, had to scope some out. My Wife got the spinach salad with chicken: Spinach still had stems on them which makes me question whether they even washed it and there was only two little pieces of chicken on it. Great Greek salad with grilled chicken! I have a slight fascination with the pink dressing - some might call it an addiction. The chicken is perfection - I need to make it like that at home so I don't waste all my money buying salad. I have always enjoyed eating at Apovini Grill, but I won't be going back. I called in a carryout order and waited, was shuffled around, and ignored by staff while they helped other people who came in after me. I even waited another twenty minutes to pick it up, knowing that they are busy. Because I ran out of time waiting, I had to leave without my food, and couldn't even let someone know. Having had ample time to observe the carryout process at the busiest time of day, I would suggest designating one person to handle carryout orders, and perhaps not having to handwrite every ticket and bill. But the big pet-peeve is that I work early and they say they open at 7am. However, I rarely have someone answer before 7:15, and even sometimes they will get sick of it ringing and pick up/hang up.
