Im in the waiting room for 20 minutes, get ushered into the exam room. Dr. Campbell comes in, trims my nails and cuts a couple places on calluses with the same snippers , and gets me out in 2-3 minutes. Seems so hurried I'm afraid to ask more than rudimentary questions; like: how does the infection look? Is it going away? Then he says, "nice to see you," and it's time to get out. Last time he cut my calluses with nail clippers my skin split open in two places in the same locations. Every step caused horrible pain for a couple of weeks. I realize he's got a busy practice with lots of patients, and 6-week Medicare foot checks are probably not a great money-maker as compared to surgeries, but come on - he is getting paid, and my feet are important to me! Not going back

People come to the doctor in pain and should not be treated this way. Although I do really like Lorie, It's important that the person at the front desk shows warmth, kindness, professionalism and respect. I got none of this today. Lorie and the "cold"young lady at the desk tried to tell me that this is the first time they've heard a complaint. If this is true then people don't speak up, don't come back. There is another review with the same type of opinion regarding the rudeness. I have always had exceptional service with Lorie but your staff is A representative of you and this young lady was not a positive representative. The other young lady that took me to the the room was very warm and friendly. Perhaps she's the one that should be at the front desk. First impressions are very important. Especially at a place of healing. Lorie has responded to my review. She gave me her personal cell and there is a number on her answering machine in case of an emergency. I did have my insurance card but it was in my car. The young lady at the desk was very rude. I already said this. You doctor were not present to see how she behaved. And you need to look at the other review only three months prior to mine. If you don't take appointments on the day that I came in, why were there other patients in your office? You did not care about how I was treated, you only want to defend the young lady who has little to no warm customer service skill or professional skill in my opinion. Many people won't speak up so this leaves me to wonder how many people don't come back. We can go any where to be mistreated. We especially don't want to be treated the way I was treated when we are in pain. The other young lady could teach the young lady that was rude some lessons. The young lady that took me to the room like I said was very warm, caring and polite.

My only complaint is with my insurance I guess as we needed to wait a couple weeks for approval to actually take care of the problem. She also clearly described some options for the future and a treatment path to minimize the potential to lose my [big toe] nail. She was quick to point out it is just a nail but I counter that this is SB, land of flip flops and we should try to keep it as funky as it may look now. When I did return for the clean-out they went about it quickly and it was practically painless. Dr. Chandler was was also able to diagnose another treatment option for hammer 'mallet' toe, which is something I did not even realize could be helped. I will update the review after we get through the procedures... And, add photos?! Actually, I think I will spare the Yelp page my freaky toe pictures as there are plenty (albeit nastier) situations online if you dare to search. Eww

When I went into the office he told me they couldn't access my X-ray as they were on a different system and did I want them to take another X-ray. No, I did not. Not good for me and unreasonable for the insurance. He suggested that perhaps he should look a my leg in case the skin was abrading. I demurred as it wasn't and I had only had it on one day. So nothing was done, I didn't sign up for an additional appointment. I just got a bill for $132.25. They did nothing and my understanding was that the $30 copay was all I was required to pay. I won't ever go back there.

I am NOT diabetic and my condition is genetic, but I did not expect the amount of degeneration and partial bone collapse. When O came in he said that he had already told his assistant that he assumed I was diabetic. When he verbally told me my degenerative diagnosis, there was ZERO compassion or understanding. I had slight tears well up In my eyes at the thought of possibly losing the ability to walk someday, but I intentionally did not let myself cry because he was such a dispassionate person. He said basically that it "is what it is" and basically told me to come back if my foot turned red or suddenly collapsed. He wrote on my chart notes that I had full sensation (which I don't) and that I came in for "foot casting" For orthotics, which I did not (since I already have my own orthotics and no casting or measuring was done). He didn't even write the diagnosis down that he verbalized to me, which would help me to plan for future doctors visits and treatment, time off for treatment, etc. When I called him out on this via "my chart", he did admit to the same condition he had verbalized, but ghosted my request to assure he write that diagnosis in my actual chart. He didn't really address if my pain was adequately under control because he assumed I had no pain, and said that most people with neuropathy have no pain and that I was unique. I can fully attest that many people with various types of neuropathy have substantial pain still. I left and will never come back. I'm actually glad that I had this experience, because I would never want someone with this little compassion to operate on me!

Can you give negative stars? Every experience I had with Dr. Garofalo and her office staff was…read morebeyond horrid. The fact that a patient calling gets put on hold five (count 'em, five!) times should be off-putting enough to make you look for another doctor, unless you like waiting, have extra reserves of patience and don't have any health problems, ever. The first time, I was just looking for a dermatologist referral, which you would think is relatively straightforward. Think again. I was able to get an appointment after about half an hour on the phone - this wait was just a taste of what was to come. Once I went to the office, I waited approximately 30 minutes in the waiting room, followed by 20 more in the examination room. I was seen by the doctor for about 3 minutes and shooed away. When I went for my annual, I booked I think 6 weeks ahead for an appointment so I could be the first of the day. However, Dr. Garofalo didn't feel the need to get to work on time (despite the fact that my getting to work on time was contingent on her showing up) so I got to wait in the paper dress for 45 minutes for her to show up. Once she showed up, she had to get settled in, so even though I could hear her voice I still had to sit there for another 5 or so minutes. The one time I was actually sick, the office girl told me that I could come in right away. After sitting in the waiting room for over an hour and a half, I asked if I would ever get to see her. The response I got was something along the lines of why should I expect to be seen when there are other people with appointments? I said that I needed to go to class and they told me that I was SOL. Wonderful. And not even a doctor's note for missing my earlier class. The last time I went to this office, I was looking to a renewal for my dermatologist referral. This literally requires the doctor to look at my face and sign a piece of paper. I waited 45 minutes in the waiting room and decided to ask how many people were ahead of me since again, I had class. It had been a rough week and I had a lot of other things I could have been doing, so my emotional reaction was probably disproportionate to the situation, but when I was told it would be at least another hour, I had my charts be sent to another doctor and never turned back. Do not. DO NOT. go to Dr. Garofalo's office if you want to see a doctor. If you want to read magazines for a few hours though, her waiting room is the place.

Two days before my appointment I got really sick and went to Urgent Care on campus. The doctor there was so nice and really took care of me. When I told him I had this appointment he said to go to it and he would consult with the doctor so I could have the best treatment. Dr. Garofalo was so rude and she didn't listen to me at all. I had to repeat myself often, and tell her which tests I needed. If the other doctor hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known them to tell her. I don't feel she cared at all, I feel all I did was waste my money and time here. __________ (I didn't want to write this as an update, because I don't want to hide the experience from my first visit.) I decided I should write an update of what happened a few months after my one and only visit. I cut my foot at the beach and needed stitches at the emergency room. They sent my x-ray to Garofalo, since she was the only GP I'd visited in Santa Barbara. The emergency-room doctor said the x-ray showed something embedded in my skin that looked like it could be glass, but was actually sand. Fast-forward over a week later, and I get a call from the Garofalo office. "Hi, we got your x-ray, you have glass in your foot." I mention what the emergency-room doctor had said. "Yeah, whatever, so you have glass in your foot." Ok, thanks. If I had actually had glass in my foot, it would've been nice to get that info when I'd actually needed it and not so far in the future it was useless. Further, beyond telling me this info, she had nothing else to offer: no suggested visit, treatment, or anything. Beyond useless!
