When pressing the call button for assistance it often took up to an hour for someone to respond, and sometimes the only action was to turn off the light. I've also seen the button tucked away in the bedside drawer out of reach. Meals were often forgotten, and once when I pointed out that my mother had not received dinner, she was hastily given an old sandwich that was dated five days prior. Additionally, after my mother suffered a fall and was seen only by the nurse it was dismissed as minor and being told to watch for new complaints of pain while she was actively complaining of a new pain. I had to insist that the paramedics be called which ultimately revealed new broken bones. While there may be a few there that seemed to care at the facility. Their efforts are overwhelmed by the lack of support for others, including the don and the social worker. Even after I had to report one of the cna's for inappropriate behavior, the response was lackluster. She was removed from her hallway, but would still sit nearby, seemingly to try to intimidate me. I was assured she wouldn't be allowed in my mother's room, but that did little to ease my concerns. It is very disheartening to witness staff members who should be focusing on helping the patients heal instead acting with indifference or hostility.

Before my appointment, I was sent a plethora of pages to fill out as requested and brought them the morning of my appointment. I, like many people, read the fine print. Upon entering, I had to have a photo taken to load internally to help prevent fraud, which I kindly declined. If you have a credit on your account of $5 or less they expect you to write it off. I wrote, "I want any amount refunded". I also had to submit a credit card to keep on file. "Who in their right mind gives anyone a blank check to charge at any time?". I put a line through that and initialed it. Christy handed me another copy of that page and told me I could not write anything in, that I just had to initial it. She was insistent I initial the Workman's Compensation Form. I declined. She said, "Everyone has to initial it". I'm 70 years old, tell me why. The last straw was when I had to give my SS#. Again I was told, everyone gives their SS#. Christy said it was very secure and I'm thinking, computers are hacked every day. I said "I will leave before giving that information", and Christy's response was "Well, it will probably come to that". I wonder how many people don't read the fine print and don't realize what freewill they give businesses. As someone who has been a victim of credit card fraud more than once and identity theft, there are some things that need protection. Dr. Bell may be a very nice man, I wouldn't know as I couldn't get past the office staff. I have never in my 70 years had to have a mug shot taken upon entering a physician's office. I got the feeling the office staff was more concerned about getting their money than caring for people. First impressions are lasting.
